Characteristics unique to PWS, such as food-seeking behaviors and high threshold for pain, likely contribute to the risk for SA. These findings suggest that syndrome-specific programs for SA prevention should be considered for individuals with any genetic syndrome with behavioral problems that may increase SA risk.

This cross-sectional study aimed to compare the association between self-reported sleep duration and cardiometabolic risk among men and women corporate executives and investigate potential lifestyle, work- and stress-related mediators thereof.

Self-reported sleep duration and lifestyle, occupational, psychological and measured anthropometrical, blood pressure (BP) and blood marker variables were obtained from health risk assessment data of 3583 corporate executives. Sex-stratified regression analyses investigated the relationships between occupational and psychological variables with self-reported sleep duration, and sleep duration with individual cardiometabolic risk factors. Mediation analyses investigated the effects of work, psychological and lifestyle factors on the relationships between self-reported sleep duration and cardiometabolic risk factors, as well as a continuous cardiometabolic risk score calculated from the sum of sex-stratified z-standardized scores of negative fasting serum HDL, and posnterventions in workplace health programmes is warranted.

In these corporate executives, shorter self-reported sleep duration is associated with poorer psychological, occupational and cardiometabolic risk outcomes in both men and women. Given that physical activity, working hours and stress mediate this association among the men, the case for sleep health interventions in workplace health programmes is warranted.

Tooth loss has been found to be associated with fractures and osteoporosis. However, the associations between number of teeth with bone mineral density as well as with hip fractures have not been explored in the same study setting.

Data from the cross-sectional National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2005-2010, 2013-2014, and 2017-2018) with completed femoral neck bone mineral density (BMD) measurements, osteoporosis questionnaires, and dentition examinations were analyzed. A total of 15,198 participants, with a mean age of 53.9 and diverse ethnicity, males (52%), and females (48%), were analyzed. Multivariate logistic regression analyses for self-reported hip fractures, self-reported osteoporosis, and measured low femoral BMD accounting for traditional risk factors were tested for the total number of natural teeth (NoT) present, or by NoT in the anterior or posterior segments.

Subjects with fewer natural teeth present were more likely to report a hip fracture, osteoporosis, or having lower leip fracture and osteoporosis. The author argues that it only would be if the use of this technology were aimed at increasing the individual's capacity to reflectively decide for themselves, rather than at directly influencing behaviour. To support this, it is shown how a disregard for personal autonomy, in particular, invalidates the main proposals for applying new technologies, both biomedical and AI-based, to moral enhancement. As an alternative to these proposals, this article proposes a virtual assistant that, through dialogue, neutrality and virtual reality technologies, can teach users to make better moral decisions on their own. The author concludes that, as long as certain precautions are taken in its design, such an assistant could do this better than a human instructor adopting the same educational methodology.

Refracture of the tibia after union is a challenging problem for the patients and the surgeons. The purpose of the current study is to present our experience in conservative management of such patients with refracture of infected ununited tibia after successful treatment by Ilizarov external fixator and bone transport.

We reviewed the files of 812 patients with infected ununited tibia who were treated by debridement, corticotomy, and bone transport using Ilizarov methods in our institute between 1997 and 2017. Inclusion criteria were patients with refracture after union and removal of the Ilizarov apparatus. Twenty-two patients with 23 refracture tibia were included in the study. All the 23 tibias were treated conservatively by above knee cast that was converted to Sarmiento below knee cast after early callus formation, except in the case of upper tibial fracture that continued in above knee cast till union. Afterwards, a protective splint was used for additional twomonths.

There were 19 males (86.4%) a in achieving union. However, complications as skin irritation, DVT (deep venous thrombosis), and axial deviation can be anticipated.

Esophageal cancer (EC) is associated with malnutrition in the vast majority of patients, and this often leads to sarcopenia, which is characterised by loss of skeletal muscle mass (SMM). Although sarcopenia could be one of the risk factors for postoperative pneumonia (PP), the optimal definition of sarcopenia using skeletal muscle mass index (SMI) by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) remains unknown for predicting PP after esophagectomy in patients with EC. Therefore, this study aimed to identify high-risk patients for PP after esophagectomy through evaluating SMI by BIA and set an appropriate cut-off value for this purpose.

A total of 73 patients with EC who underwent subtotal esophagectomy with lymph node dissection at Osaka City University Hospital between 2017 and 2019 were reviewed retrospectively. The association between PP and perioperative factors including SMI by BIA were analysed. When SMI was lower than the cut-off values proposed by two study groups (Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWWGSOP criteria. The rate of PP was significantly higher in sarcopenic patients when the original and modified EWGSOP criteria were used (p = 0.0079 and 0.0015, respectively). A multivariate analysis revealed that sarcopenic state by modified EWGSOP criteria was the significant independent predictive factor of PP [p = 0.0031, hazard ratio (HR) = 10.1; 95% confidential interval (CI) 2.12-76.9].

Preoperative sarcopenia by modified EWGSOP criteria could be the best indicator using BIA for predicting PP after esophagectomy in patients with EC.
