Gynura segetum (GS) is widely used in medical care and in community settings in China as the herbal remedy. It is widely thought to have antiphlogistic properties and pain relief in traditional Chinese medicine. It has been reported that GS can cause chronic drug-induced liver injury (DILI), manifested as hepatic sinusoid obstruction syndrome (HOSO). But case reports of acute DILI developing acute liver failure (ALF) due to GS are extremely rare.

We report a case of a 63-year-old female patient with hepatolithiasis for more than 6years. There were no deteriorationof liver function and no history of viral liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, blood transfusion or surgical allergy before operation. ALF and grade II liver encephalopathy occurred after partial hepatectomy. To follow up the medical history, the patient has been taking GS (Tusanqi) for a year and a half. The causality assessment was done by the updated Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Method, and the possibility of DILI caused by GS as highly probable for the score was 6 points. Excluding other causes, a diagnosis of DILI-associated ALF was established. After symptomatic support and artificial liver support system (ALSS) treatment, the clinical symptoms and signs of the patients were significantly improved. After discharge, the liver function of the patients returned to normal.

Based on this rare case of severe liver injury, we recommend that timely prevention, identification, and appropriate management of DILI is essential for patients with a history of taking GS and other hepatotoxic drugs, and careful monitoring of liver function for patients with DILI could avoid ALF as far as possible.

Although shared decision making is championed as the preferred model for patient care by patient organizations, researchers and medical professionals, its application in daily practice remains limited. We previously showed that residents more often prefer paternalistic decision making than their supervisors. Because both the views of residents on the decision-making process in medical consultations and the reasons for their 'paternalism preference' are unknown, this study explored residents' views on the decision-making process in medical encounters and the factors affecting it.

We interviewed 12 residents from various specialties at a large Dutch teaching hospital in 2019-2020, exploring how they involved patients in decisions. All participating residents provided written informed consent. Data analysis occurred concurrently with data collection in an iterative process informing adaptations to the interview topic guide when deemed necessary. Constant comparative analysis was used to develop themes. We cey include skills training, but also target residents' perceptions and convictions regarding their role in the decision-making process in consultations.

Despite the abundance of studies reporting the prevalence of women's sexual abuse all over the world, there is a real lack of such reports in developing countries in general and Arab-Muslim societies in particular. However, due to the little number of published studies in Tunisia, and the absence of a national database, data on female sexual assaults are still underestimated, which is a gap that needs to be filled in order to make specific preventive actions. We aim to identify the pattern of female victims of sexual abuse in the governorate of Kairouan (Tunisia) in order to provide recommendations for prevention.

Retrospective data were collected on all-female sexual assault victims, particularly rape, presented to the Department of Forensic Medicine of the University Hospital Ibn El Jazzar of Kairouan (Tunisia), during an 8-year period, from 2009 to 2016.

Two hundred and sixteen victims were included. Age ranged from 3 to 82years with a mean age of 20.4years. Victims were single in 84.3%, unmarried inng care of the victims (health care professionals, the police, social specialists, and psychologists). In addition, civil societies are key partners to break the silence, support this issue, and raise awareness.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its quick progression to a global pandemic has urged medical schools to shift from didactic to distance learning and assessment approaches. The quality of clinical training and assessment have been jeopardized due to the regulatory restrictions and potential hazards to human lives. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the utility and efficacy of an electronic Objective Structured Clinical Examination (e-OSCE), which attempted to transform the format of a face-to-face OSCE to an e-OSCE.

We conducted three end of clerkship e-OSCEs for final year medical students in Surgery, Medicine and Family Medicine using the teleconferencing application of Microsoft Teams (MST). The e-OSCE blueprint included the assessment of all clinical skills except physical examination and procedural skills. Examiners supervised e-OSCE from the college campus, while all students were remotely assessed through the MST channels. During the exam, the students stayed in their specical competence except for physical examination and procedural skills. The planning and implementation of e-OSCE reflects an ingenuity in the assessment of clinical competencies of medical students.

During and beyond COVID- 19 era, e-OSCE is a strong substitute to standard OSCE for assessing clinical competence except for physical examination and procedural skills. The planning and implementation of e-OSCE reflects an ingenuity in the assessment of clinical competencies of medical students.

Genital wart (GW) is known as an infectious disease. Besides the infection, it is associated with a higher risk of cervical neoplasia and cancer in the infected population. The present research aimed to explore the predictors of GW preventive behaviors based on the health belief model (HBM).

The present analytical and cross-sectional research was conducted in 2019 among 720 women between 15 and 49years of age in Bandar Abbas in the south of Iran. The sample was selected in a multi-stratified clustering method. The participants responded to a reliable and valid researcher-made questionnaire which explored demographic information, knowledge-related items and the model constructs. A multivariate linear regression analysis was run to determine the predictors of adopting GW preventive behaviors. A path analysis was also run to test the direct and indirect effects of the model constructs on the dependent variable.

The mean and standard deviation of participants' age was 30.43 ± 8.697years. As Pearson's correlctors of GW preventive behaviors. HBM can be a useful theoretical framework to evaluate the preventive behavior of the disease and help to reduce the rate of sexually-transmitted infections including GW.

This study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of the Healthy Outcomes through Peer Educators (HOPE) training program designed to train African American (AA) grandmothers to serve as peer educators for other AA grandmothers who are at risk for diabetes. The newly trained peer educators will provide the needed encouragement and positive reinforcement essential for successful sustainable health behaviors to grandmothers enrolled in a subsequent Diabetes Prevention Program.

Thirty AA women between the ages of 49-72 were enrolled in the pre-post single group study. The participants were required to attend a 2-h Diabetes Prevention Program session every week for 16weeks. The sessions covered the role of the peer educator and encouraged participants to increase their physical activity and consume more servings of fruits and vegetables daily. We noted the number of participants who successfully completed the training and solicited their perspective regarding the strengths of the program and suggestions ton = 28) compared to week 1, (median = 30min per week, n = 28) Z = 4.62, p < 0.05.

The peer educator training component of HOPE was found to be feasible and acceptable as evidenced by our successful recruitment and retention of participants. Participation in the peer educator training program also resulted in improvement in health behaviors.

The incidence and mortality of colon cancer is increasing recently. It is necessary to identify effective biomarkers for the progression and prognosis of colon cancer. To assess the potential of lncRNA USP30-AS1 (USP30-AS1) in serving as the biomarker of colon cancer and unearth the underlying mechanism.

There were 123 colon cancer patients enrolled. The expression of USP30-AS1 was evaluated with PCR in tissue and cell samples. The clinical significance of USP30-AS1 was assessed with a series of statistical methods, while the CCK8 and Transwell assay were conducted to estimate its biological effect on the colon cancer cellular processes. In mechanism, the interaction of USP30-AS1 with miR-765 was evaluated with the dual-luciferase reporter assay.

In colon cancer tissues, the USP30-AS1 downregulation and the miR-765 upregulation were observed, and there was a negative correlation between the USP30-AS1 expression level and the miR-765 expression level. The downregulation of USP30-AS1 related to the malignant progression and served as an adverse prognostic indicator of colon cancer. The overexpression of USP30-AS1 dramatically suppressed colon cancer cellular processes, which was alleviated by miR-765.

USP30-AS1 predicts the malignancy and prognosis of colon cancer patients. USP30-AS1 suppressed the progression of colon cancer through modulating miR-765.

This study aims to explore the relationship between surgically-induced ankle instability and posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) in a mouse model, and to provide reference for clinical practice.

Ligamentectomy was performed on 24 eight-week-old male C57BL/6 J mice, which were divided into three groups. Both the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and the calcaneofibular ligament (CFL) were severed in the CFL + ATFL group, while only the CFL was removed in the CFL group. The SHAM group was set as the blank control group. A wheel-running device was used to accelerate the development of ankle osteoarthritis (OA). Balance measurement, footprint analysis, and histological analysis were used to assess the degree of ankle instability and OA. According to the balance test results, the CFL + ATFL group demonstrated the highest number of slips and the longest crossing beam time at 8 weeks postoperatively. The results of gait analysis exhibited that the CFL + ATFL group had the most significant asymmetry in stride length, stance length, and foot base width compared to the CFL and SHAM groups.
