To determine the impact of mechanical stability on the progress of bone ongrowth on the frame surfaces of a titanium-coated polyether ether ketone (TCP) cage and a three-dimensional porous titanium alloy (PTA) cage following posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) until 1year postoperatively.

A total of 59 patients who underwent one- or two-level PLIF for degenerative lumbar disorders since March 2015 were enrolled. Bone ongrowth of all cage frame surfaces (four surfaces per cage TCP, 288 surfaces and PTA, 284 surfaces) was graded by 6-month and 1-year postoperative computed tomography color mapping (grade 0, 0‒25% of bone ongrowth; grade 1, 26‒50%; grade 2, 51‒75%; and grade 3, 76‒100%).

Bone ongrowth (≥ grade 1) was observed on 58.0% and 69.0% of the surfaces of TCP and PTA cages 6months postoperatively and on 63.5% and 75.0% of those 1year postoperatively, respectively. In the TCP cages, bone ongrowth grade increased from 6months to 1year postoperatively only in the union segments (median, 1 [interquartile range, IQR, 0-2] to 1 [IQR, 0-3], p = 0.006). By contrast, in the PTA cages, it increased at 6months postoperatively in the union (1 [IQR, 1-2] to 2 [IQR, 1-3], p = 0.003) and non-union (0.5 [IQR, 0-2] to 1 [IQR, 0-2.75], p = 0.002) segments.

We present a patient with dynamic left vertebral artery occlusion associated with idiopathic rotatory C1-C2 subluxation. A dynamic Angio-CT showed rotatory C1-C2 subluxation with significant flow reduction at the left vertebral artery at the exit of the C2 transverse foramen until the V3 segment when the head rotated towards the right. Due to clinical and radiological worsening in the following months, posterior C1-C2 arthrodesis was performed, with the disappearance of the symptoms. There are 193 cases reported with dynamic vertebral artery occlusion, but in only two, the etiology was primary rotational atlantoaxiale or surgical. Endovascular surgery is another option in specific cases.

The Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) is one of the most common patient-reported outcome measures used for low back pain (LBP). Since it was not available in Indonesian, this study aimed to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of ODI to Indonesian and evaluate its psychometric properties.

We performed a cross-cultural adaptation of ODI v2.1a into Indonesian language (ODI-ID) and determined its internal consistency, test-retest reliability, measurement error, confirmatory factor analysis, floor-ceiling effect, and construct validity by hypotheses testing of its correlation with Short Form-36 (SF-36) and visual analog scale (VAS). Adults (> 17years of age) diagnosed with low back pain were included.

A total of 96 subjects were included in this study. The original ODI questionnaire was translated into an Indonesian version and showed a good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.90) and good reliability (intraclass correlation = 0.97). The standard error of measurement values of 3.35 resulted in a minimal detectable change score of 9. Nine out of nine (100%) a priori hypotheses were met, confirming the construct validity. A strong correlation was found with the physical component of SF-36 (0.77 and 0.76 for pain and physical function, respectively) and VAS (0.79). Confirmatory factor analysis resulted in a poor but significant fit to the original one-factor structure and the static-dynamic two-factor structure. Floor-ceiling effects were not found.

The Indonesian version of ODI displayed similar reliability, validity, and psychometric characteristics to the original ODI. This questionnaire will be a suitable instrument for assessing LBP-related disability for Indonesian-speaking patients.

A subsample of 197 ewes was scored for body weight (BW), rump length (RL), rump width (RW), height at withers (HW), chest girth (CG), chest width (CW), chest depth (CD), cannon bone perimeter (CP), and body length (BL). Pearson's correlation analysis was performed on a sub-data set from 197 ewes to estimate the relationship between body weight and body measurements. Multiple linear regressions were fitted to obtain prediction equations of body weight from the eight body measurements, and prediction equations were obtained from the body measurement that showed the highest correlation with body weight using five nonlinear models allometric, saturation growth, exponential, and incomplete gamma. Data from an independent subsample of 196 ewes was used to validate the equation with the best goodness of fit using linear regression analysis. CG was the body measurement that showed the highest correlation with BW, and based on multiple stepwise regression, in the equation BW = - 60.622 + 1.233CG explained 79% of the body weight variation. Moreover, BW prediction was more accurate when other measurements such CW, BL, and RW were added to the model generating to the equation BW = - 68.875 + 0.845CG + 0.866CW + 0.195BL + 0.601RW (R2 = 0.85, MSE = 15.51). In the case of nonlinear models, incomplete gamma and exponential models generated the equations with the best goodness of fit and precision BW = 0.077CG1.108exp(0.016CG) (R2 = 0.82, MSE = 18.64) and BW = 3.5759exp(0.0292CG) (R2 = 0.82, MSE = 18.65) respectively.In this study, the novel high-speed tablet film coating process in the continuous manufacturing was investigated. The influence of key process variables (inlet air flow rate, inlet air temperature, and suspension spray rate) were investigated using a Box-Behnken experimental design method. Statistical regression models were developed to predict the outlet air temperature and relative humidity, the coating efficiency, the tablet moisture content, and coating uniformity. The effects of the three key process variables were comprehensively investigated based on mathematical analysis, contour plots, and interaction plots. The results indicate that all the process responses are affected by changing the inlet air flow rate, temperature, and suspension spray rate. A design space (DS) in terms of failure probability was determined based on specifications for tablet moisture content ( less then  3.5%) and coating uniformity (tablet weight standard deviation less then  4 mg for tablet weight of 200 mg) using Monte Carlo simulations. Independent experiments were carried out and successfully validated the robustness and accuracy of the determined DS for the investigated tablet film coating process. All the data were generated using an industrial pilot-scale novel high-speed tablet coating unit from a continuous manufacturing line. The work facilitates the quality by design implementation of continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Thus, this study investigated whether quality (i.e., movement control) of one-leg standing also associated femoral BMD.
