We found a subtle structural deterioration of the optic nerve (RNFL) during the follow-up, but not of the visual field. The significant relationship between structural (RNFL thickness) and functional measures (mean deviation) also supports the idea that RNFL thickness measurements could be useful for the mid-term monitoring of BSCR patients.

To evaluate the clinical outcomes after half-dose photodynamic therapy (PDT) in chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC) patients with pre-existent fovea-involving atrophy.
In this retrospective study, cCSC patients who had a window defect of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) on fluorescein angiography (FA), compatible with RPE atrophy, prior to half-dose PDT were included.
Thirty-four cCSC eyes with typical findings of cCSC on multimodal imaging, and fovea-involving RPE atrophy on FA, were included. At the first visit after PDT (at a median of 1.8months after half-dose PDT), 20 eyes (59%) had a complete resolution of SRF (p < 0.001), while this was the case in 19 eyes (56%) at final visit (median of 11.3months after half-dose PDT; p < 0.001). The mean BCVA in Early Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy Study letters was 71. 2 ± 15.9 at last visit before PDT, which increased to 74.1 ± 14.1 at first visit after PDT (p = 0.093, compared with baseline), and changed to 73.0 ± 19.1 at final visit (p = 0.392, compared with baseline). Both at first visit after PDT and at final visit, a significant decrease in subfoveal choroidal thickness was observed (p = 0.032 and p = 0.004, respectively).
Half-dose PDT in cCSC patients with pre-existing fovea-involving atrophy may lead to anatomical changes, but not to functional improvements. Ideally, cCSC should be treated with half-dose PDT before the occurrence of such atrophy.

Rubella is an important infectious, vaccine-preventable etiology of congenital defects. The aim of the study was to develop a prediction nomogram to assess the probability of an infant being at risk for congenital rubella based on demographics and ophthalmological findings.
This was a cross-sectional sentinel surveillance study conducted at 5 centers spanning pan-India and involved 1134 infants. The diagnosis of rubella was made using standard guidelines. For the construction of the prediction model, laboratory-confirmed cases were grouped as "at-risk" (AR) infants and the discarded cases into "not at risk" (NAR) infants. Univariate analysis (p value cut-off < 0.05) followed by multivariate binary logistic regression model development was performed.
The average (median) age of the suspected CRS infants was 3 (IQR 1-6) months, and the average (mean) age of their mothers was 25.8 ± 4.1 years. Out of the total infants, 81 (7.3%) died, 975 (88%) were alive, and 55 (5.0%) were lost to follow-up. The final model showed that the odds of cataract, retinopathy, glaucoma, microcornea, and age of the infant at presentation were 3.1 (2.2-4.3), 4.9(2.3-10.4), 2.7(1.1-5.9), 2.3(1.1-4.7), and 1.1 (1-1.1), respectively, for the AR infant as compared to NAR infant. AUC of final model was 0.68 (95% CI Delong, 0.64-0.72). Bootstrapping for calibration of the model showed satisfactory results. Nomogram, along with a web version, was developed.
The developed nomogram would have a wide community-based utilization and will help in prioritizing attention to high-risk children, thereby avoiding loss to follow-up.

To estimate the polyp regression rate and treatment prognosis of different interventions for polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) and clarify its baseline characteristics.
The PubMed, EMBASE, and Ovid were searched up to January 2020 to identify related studies. R software version 3.6.3 was used to perform the statistical analyses. Results in proportion with 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated by means of the Freeman-Tukey variant of arcsine square transformation. Chi-squared test and I
statistics were used to evaluate the statistical heterogeneity. Sensitivity analysis and subgroup analyses were performed to identify the source of heterogeneity.
This meta-analysis included 104 studies with 5816 patients. The pooling results indicated the general rate of complete polyp regression at post-treatment 12months was 64% (95% CI [57~71%]), 89% (95% CI [81~95%]) for photodynamic therapy (PDT) monotherapy, 78% (95% CI [68~86%]) for PDT plus anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF), and 42% (95% CI [35~49%]) for anti-VEGF monotherapy; PDT plus anti-VEGF showed the best efficacy in visual improvement and achieved the highest rate of dry macula (91%, 95% CI [78~99%]), while anti-VEGF monotherapy achieved the lowest polyp recurrence rate (14%, 95% CI [8~20%]); PDT monotherapy showed the best efficacy in pigment epithelial detachment regression (66%, 95% CI [58~83%]). Additionally, the baseline characteristics of PCV were also well described.
PDT plus anti-VEGF is still valuable for the management of PCV; it could achieve not only satisfactory anatomical outcomes like dry macula rate and polyp regression rate but also ideal visual prognosis like BCVA improvement.

Distal radius fracture (DRF) is the most common upper extremity fracture. After the introduction of volar locking plate (VLP) fixation, treatment has shifted from conservative management to more operative management. Bromelain inhibitor The implant removal rate after VLP fixation in patients with DRF varies and the reasons for removal and associated patient characteristics have not been clearly defined. This study aimed to compare the characteristics of patients who underwent VLP with and without subsequent implant removal. Second, the rate of implant removal according to the implant position and type was investigated. Finally, we summarized clinical outcome with implant removal, the reasons for, and complications associated with implant removal.
In this retrospective study, patient data were collected between January 1, 2008, and December 31, 2017. The study population was divided into two groups based on subsequent implant removal. Data on patient characteristics, such as age, sex, comorbidities, side of the fractured arm, the AO Foundation and Orthopaedic Trauma Association classification of the DRF, plate position grade based on the Soong classification type, type of inserted plate, insurance coverage, and treatment costs were collected.
