In summary, these findings indicate that DEH is a potential novel strategy for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS Glucose-lowering complex (DEH) with superior hypoglycemic effect, can effectively improve the insulin resistance, reduce the fasting blood glucose, hepatic gluconeogenesis and increase the hepatic glycogen synthesis and storage in mice, which represents a potential novel strategy for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. This study aims to investigate the effects of two flavonoids, rutin and quercetin, on inhibitory activity of recombinant buckwheat trypsin inhibitor (rBTI). We found that rutin and quercetin could quench the florescence of rBTI through the static quenching process. We also observed that upon binding to rutin or quercetin, rBTI underwent conformational changes. The results also suggested that rutin and quercetin bind to two different sites on rBTI through different interactions rutin binds to rBTI through van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonds, whereas quercetin binds through hydrophobic interactions. Rutin and quercetin also markedly deactivated the trypsin inhibitory activity (TIA) of rBTI, while quercetin exhibited higher inactivation effect on rBTI than rutin due to its structure. Finally, the molecular docking revealed the molecular binding between the flavonoids and rBTI. These findings can be useful for the understanding of how flavonoid affects the inhibitory of rBTI.Callistemon citrinus aerial part essential oil (CCEO) was analyzed for chemical compositions using GC/MS. Pharmacological activities such as neurodegenerative inhibitory, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and acetylcholinesterase activities were evaluated using the standard methodologies. Genotoxicity was investigated using Allium cepa assay. GC/MS analysis identified 27 compounds; eucalyptol (55.40%) was the major component. Radical scavenging activity showed IC50 value of 16.71 μg/mL. Protein denaturation assay showed IC50 value of 21.19 μg/mL and 19.53μg/mL in protease inhibitor activity. MIC assay revealed antimicrobial potential of CCEO against microbial strains B. cereus at 2.00 mg/mL, S. typhimurium at 4.50 mg/mL, S. mutans at 2.50 mg/mL, C. albicans at 4.00 mg/mL, and S. cerevisiae at 4.50 mg/mL concentrations. Mitotic index value (MI) of CCEO showed negligible genotoxicity with MI 17.25% close to distilled water 18.22%. Acetylcholinesterase strong inhibitory activity of CCEO was observed from IC50 = 6.335 μg/mL. CCEO could be a cheap and easy source for the extraction of the pure compound eucalyptol and possess various biological activities which increase its pharmacological value as well as its applicability in the field of flavor and fragrance industries. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS Eucalyptol is the major component of many pharmaceutical and food/flavor industries. The present investigation provides a new source for the isolation of pure compound eucalyptol in cost-effective way. Additionally, the essential oil could also be used for the pharmaceutical formulation of antioxidant, inflammation inhibitory, and neurodegenerative inhibitory drug preparation under the safety range concentration. The changes taking place in the education system along with the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic make it compulsory to use distance education methods. For evaluating whether the assertiveness training which was offered through a hybrid education model had any effect on assertiveness and self-esteem, this study was conducted as an experimental study with the control group. In the study, the Rathus assertiveness inventory, Coopersmith self-esteem inventory, and personal information form were utilized. The participant nursing students were assigned to experimental and control groups. The measurement tools were applied to both groups while the assertiveness training was later given solely to the experimental group. At the end of the training given to the experimental group, the measurement tools were applied once again to both groups. According to the results of the study, while the assertiveness and self-esteem of the students in the experimental group increased significantly from the pre-test to the posttest measurements, no statistically significant difference was found in the measurements made in the same periods in the control group. This situation demonstrates that the technology-based hybrid assertiveness training was effective in enhancing assertiveness and self-esteem.Resting bud cataphylls are often assumed to play an essential protective role in winter due to their widespread presence among temperate, woody plants. This view is challenged by our documentation of significant numbers of temperate woody angiosperm taxa with naked buds that overwinter without cataphyll protection. We inventoried temperate, woody angiosperm taxa reported to have resting buds without cataphyll protection in winter and for the first time characterised the morphological and functional diversity of naked buds. Using this new classification of bud types, the taxonomic and geographic distributions of taxa with naked buds were summarised and relationships between plant functional traits and bud type were investigated. Naked buds are not, as long presumed, markedly rare in temperate, woody floras. They occur in at least 87 genera in 42 families throughout the angiosperm phylogeny in various morphologically distinct manifestations. The geographic distribution of species with naked buds in temperate areas was found to be associated with summer precipitation, but not with winter climatic variables. Ruboxistaurin Resting bud structure is not necessarily a trait optimised solely for winter survival. A taxon's bud composition may be influenced by factors such as biogeographic history and ontogenetic pattern of leaf formation over the growing season.

To evaluate the effect of affective learning on alexithymia, empathy, and attitude towarddisabled persons in nursing students.

This prospective, randomized, controlled trial study was implemented among 70 nursing students. Based on transformative learning theory, the affective learning method was applied to the intervention group. Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS), Empathic Tendency Scale (ETS), and Attitudes TowardDisabled Person Scale (ATDPS) were administered to both groups.

The intervention group showed a statistically and significantly lower score at TAS and higher score at ATDPS compared to the control group, whereas no statistically significant difference was found in ETS score.

Affective learning methods could be implemented in the nursing course for improving students' attitude towarddisabled persons, and reducing alexithymia.
