8% with the log-transformed error ratio being 0.094 or 9.8%, having taken antilogs. The study revealed, using an allometric approach, that body fatness and PFA were significant contributors to 50m freestyle swim performance in young swimmers. Objective The objective of this study was to compare the brake response time of drivers with paraplegia (who use hand control) with drivers without paraplegia (who use their feet) in a virtual driving simulator brake test. Additionally, we aimed to predict and evaluate the association of virtual brake response time with sociodemographic, motor and cognitive variables. Methods 40 male adult drivers, with paraplegia (n = 20, mean age 38.1 ± 3.6 years) and without paraplegia (n = 20, mean age 38.0 ± 5.8 years), with valid driver licenses, had their brake response time evaluated in an automatic transmission car simulator. Non-disabled drivers were tested with conventional foot controls, while paraplegic drivers used hand controls. Drivers with paraplegia performed simple, choice and go/no-go reaction time tests as neuropsychological evaluations. Student's t-test was used to examine the differences of driving simulator brake response time between groups. Pearson coefficient verified the correlation of driving simulth paraplegia measured in a driving simulator.Zambia, like other low- and middle-income countries, faces numerous adolescent sexual and reproductive health challenges such as teenage pregnancies. This study aimed at understanding teachers' and community health workers' (CHWs) implementation of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) as part of a comprehensive support package for adolescent girls to prevent early childbearing. Data collected using in-depth interviews [n = 28] with teachers [n = 15] and community health workers [n = 13] were analysed using thematic analysis. The teachers and CHWs reported that the use of participatory approaches and collaboration between them in implementing CSE enabled them to increase girls' and boys' participation youth clubs. However, some teachers and CHWs experienced practical challenges with the manuals because some concepts were difficult to understand and translate into local language. The participants perceived that the youth club increased knowledge on CSE, assertiveness and self-esteem among the learners. Training and providing a detailed teaching manual with participatory approaches for delivering CSE, and collaborative teaching enabled teachers and CHWs to easily communicate sensitive SRH topics to the learners. However, for the adoption of CSE to be even more successful, piloting of the curriculum with local facilitators and translating the manuals into the local languages before they are implemented, is recommended.

Electric scooters (e-scooters) are becoming increasingly common in major urban areas worldwide. Cities in some countries have even piloted programmes to promote their use to reduce general vehicular traffic. There have, however, been widespread media reports outlining concerns about their safety. We decided to investigate these concerns by reviewing the records of patients who presented to our center, a Level 1 Major Trauma Center in the United Kingdom, with orthopedic injuries associated with e-scooter use.

We reviewed the electronic medical records of all patients who presented to our center from January 2018 to January 2020 with e-scooter associated fractures. Demographic, injury, and surgical data were collected to characterize the types of e-scooter-related fractures and to investigate the frequency of such injuries over the duration of our search. A literature review of MEDLINE and EMBASE was performed to investigate specifically orthopedic injuries caused by electric scooter use.

Motorcycle drivers are among the most vulnerable road users, accounting for a large proportion of global traffic accidents. This study aimed to investigate the association between the score of adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD) traits and risky driving behaviors (RDB) with alcohol intake (AI) and narcotics consumption (NC) among motorcyclists in Iran.

This multi-center cross-sectional study encompassed 1747 motorcyclists from three cities in Iran. A random sampling method was applied in this study, and the required data was collected using three standard questionnaires on ADHD, substance abuse, and RDB. Independent sample t-test, covariance analysis, and quantile regression (QR) were used to analyze the data.

The results of t-test and analysis of covariance indicated that AI and NC were significantly associated with ADHD score and RDB among the motorcycle drivers. AZD4573 supplier Additionally, the QR models showed that these effects were significant at all quantiles of ADHD and RDB, even for individuals who wbetween ADHD, RDB, and substance abuse.

We present the case of a 50 year old male patient being treated for chronic myeloid leukemia by the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, Ponatinib. After 3months of treatment, he developed a sight-threatening granulomatous panuveitis in both eyes, with choroidal effusions and neurosensory retinal detachments. Except for a positive interferon-gamma release assay suggesting previous Tuberculosis exposure, all uveitis investigations were normal. Discontinuation of the suspected causative drug led to resolution of signs and a consequent improvement in visual acuity.

Ponatinib use may be associated with with a uveitic phenotype that is reminiscent of Harada's disease. We compare and contrast this rare ocular phenomenon with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome and discuss a possible immunological basis.

To report a case of strabismus in a five-week-old infant, likely secondary to a rare occurrence of congenitally acquired ocular toxocariasis.

Retrospective case report.

A five-week-old male infant with left exotropia was referred to pediatric ophthalmology and to a vitreoretinal specialist. Fundoscopic examination revealed a granuloma with associated retinal folds and tractional retinal detachment typical for ocular toxocariasis. Serology revealed positivity for

antibodies, consistent with the clinical diagnosis of ocular toxocariasis.

Ocular toxocariasis is typically thought to be secondary to acquired

infection secondary to fecal-oral transmission. In this case of early-onset strabismus secondary to ocular toxocariasis, it is hypothesized that this is a presentation of congenitally acquired toxocariasis.

The use of phylogenetic methods to analyse pathogen genetic sequence data to understand disease dynamics is called 'molecular' or 'genomic' epidemiology. Many research groups in this subfield utilise open science practices, which can involve the circulation of early unreviewed findings on publicly-accessible venues online. From March to May 2020, media outlets covered early SARS-CoV-2 genomic studies that claimed to have discovered types of SARS-CoV-2 that had mutated to be more transmissible. We use methods from Science and Technology Studies (STS) to examine three cumulative cases in which unripe facts about SARS-CoV-2 genomics moved out of scientific publics and into mainstream news. The three cases are (1) 'A More "Aggressive" Strain of SARS-CoV-2?', (2) 'Eight SARS-CoV-2 Strains?', and (3) 'A "More Contagious," "Mutant" Strain?' In each case, findings were called into question and reporters' framing was overly sensational. We interpret the COVID-19 pandemic as a 'stress-test' for open science practices, and argue that it is important for stakeholders to understand changes in scientific publication and dissemination processes in the wake of the pandemic.

This study analyzes field accidents to identify rear-occupant exposure and injury by crash types. Occupant demographics and injury were assessed by body region and crash severity to understand rear-occupant injury mechanisms in rear crashes.

The exposure and serious-to-fatal injury was determined by crash type for non-ejected second- and third- row occupants in 1994+ MY vehicles using 1994-2015 NASS-CDS. Selected occupant demographics and serious injury distributions were assessed over a range of delta V for rear crashes.

Rear crashes accounted for 8.7% of exposed and 5.4% of serious-to-fatally injured rear-seat occupants. On average, rear-seat occupants were 14.3 ± 1.5 years old (median 10.3, 90

CI 0.08-29.6), weighed 44.7 ± 2.6 kg (median 44.4, 90

CI 7.9-81.7) and were 130.3 ± 4.1 cm tall (median 141.4, 90

CI 67.3-178.4). With serious injury, the average rear occupant was 18.1 ± 5.8 years old (median 13.1, 90

CI 0.0-47.2), weighed 42.6 ± 10.7 kg (median 31.4, 90

CI 7.0-82.4) and was 120.6 ± NASS-CDS. Crash tests with a delta V of between 30 and 37 km/h represent the typical collision causing serious-to-fatal injury.Informal interprofessional interactions have gained interest in recent interprofessional care, education, health services and social sciences research literature. Some of the established benefits associated with these interactions include enhanced communication, teamwork, research translation and the provision of safer care. Limited evidence about how informal interprofessional interactions are perceived by the allied health workforce, exists. The survey conducted at a large Australian health service explored allied health clinicians' perceptions of the benefits, challenges and enablers of informal interprofessional interactions and their recommendations to improve opportunities for these workplace interactions. Sixty-four responses were analysed descriptively (for close-ended questions) and using a framework analysis approach, informed by Bourdieu's social space theory (for open-ended questions). Perceived benefits were aligned with three themes teams and organisations, individual clinicians and service-users. Challenges to, and enablers of, informal interprofessional interactions were identified according to five themes socio-cultural practices, physical environment, timing-related factors, individual and organisational factors. Participant recommendations to increase opportunities for informal interprofessional workplace interactions for allied health reflected three of the aforementioned themes socio-cultural practices, physical environment and organisational factors. This theoretically-informed analysis may aid in the development of strategies to support these types of workplace interactions and realise the benefits identified. This study aims to enhance understanding of mother-daughter communication about dating and romantic relationships. We explored how Mexican-origin, mostly immigrant mothers talked about these topics with their daughters (ages 13 to 16 years) using videotaped observational methods. Themes drawn from the maternal messages contained in the conversations of 132 mother-daughter dyads show that mothers promote positive decision-making among their daughters, advising them to take their time, choose partners wisely, insist on respect from boys, maintain autonomy in relationships, pursue education goals, and develop a sense of self-worth. Mothers expressed concern about their daughters being pressured or manipulated into having unwanted sex, which led to messages about negative partner dynamics predominating in conversations. Communication about risks, however, included only implicit advice about self-protective behaviours and few messages about the potential for dating violence and abuse. We discuss the implications for improving the design of sexual health communication programmes in which mothers and daughters jointly participate.
