We identified 27 studies on strategies for implementing geriatric assessment and 24 studies on feasibility of implementing geriatric assessment, into clinical oncology practice. We also identified 3 main geriatric assessment models 2 from the United States and 1 from Australia. Furthermore, we identified 2 reviews that reported varied components of geriatric assessment models. There is increasingly robust evidence to implement formal geriatric assessment in oncology practice. There remains a great deal of variation in the tools recommended to address each of the domains in a geriatric assessment, with only 1 guideline (American Society of Clinical Oncology guideline) settling on a specific best practice. In parallel to clinical services, laboratories have been overwhelmed with task of keeping up with ever increasing demand for testing. Real time PCR detection of COVID19 is the gold standard method, however, has certain shortcomings in terms of availability of infrastructure, reagents, consumables, and technical expertise. All these have paved the way for the alternative testing algorithms and strategies. Countries like United States and Italy have struggled with these issues. India has been criticized for not testing enough and not adopting the right policy, but has been managing the disease within its resource limited health care system to a fair extent. The present review provides the Indian perspective of COVID 19 testing, the journey from not testing enough in the past to a vast expanse and depth of testing in present time.Sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) with large mandibular advancements is a common surgical procedure and could be indicated for patients with sleep apnoea. As a large variety of fixation methods is used for the stabilisation of SSRO, a biomechanical test model was used to analyse which fixation technique was most stable. For this in vitro study, 80 polyurethane hemimandibles with a prefabricated SSRO were used as substrates. Loads in Newtons were recorded at displacements of the mandibular incisive edge at 1mm, 3mm and 5mm. The samples were divided into two groups mandibular advancements of 10mm and 15mm. In both groups, four fixation techniques were used (A) one four-hole miniplate; (B) two four-hole miniplates; (C) one four-hole miniplate plus one bicortical screw; and (D) three bicortical screws in an inverted-L arrangement. In group 1, three bicortical screws resulted in the best stability, and in group 2, two miniplates resulted in the best stability. The use of two miniplates did not show significant differences between both groups. This investigation analyzed clinical characteristics of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and latent left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) and outcomes following septal myectomy.

We reviewed patients with HCM and LVOT obstruction undergoing septal myectomy from 2001 to 2016 at our center. Follow-up data on functional status were obtained through mailed survey questionnaires.

There were 629 (31.8%) patients with latent obstruction (resting LVOT gradient <30mm Hg, provoked gradient >30mm Hg) among 1981 patients undergoing septal myectomy. Patients with latent obstruction were more likely to be male (65.7% vs 51.8%, P<.001), but there were no important differences in other clinical characteristics. The New York Heart Association functional classes and measured/predicted maximal oxygen consumption (62 [51, 72] vs 60 [48, 72], P=.158) in cardiopulmonary exercise tests were comparable between the 2 groups. Patients with latent obstruction had both lower septal thickness and lower posterior wall thickness. Median intraoperative provoked pressure gradient decreased from 96 (68, 126) mm Hg to 0 (0, 6) mm Hg after myectomy (P<.001). There was no difference in early (<30days) deaths (3/629 vs 5/1352, P=.726) and long-term survival between patients with latent obstruction and resting obstruction. In follow-up, both general health status and New York Heart Association functional class were significantly improved following septal myectomy.

Postural sway generates optic flow centered on an individual's eye height. We predicted that perturbing the eye height by attaching wooden blocks below the feet would perturb the putting more so in QE-trained participants than participants trained technically. We also predicted that QE's efficacy and responses to perturbation would depend on multifractality in postural sway. Specifically, we predicted that less multifractality would predict more adaptive responses to the perturbation and higher putting accuracy.
