Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to improve your gear without relying upon large-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upp your items effectively.

Upgrades to equipment grant a bonus on the item's stats. The bonus is according to the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that make your weapons and armor better. You can get them from fighting off enemies, locating them in item spheres or buying them from karma dealers. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them, or through an advanced salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Contrary to other products, upgrade components are not destroyed when they are removed from an item.

Upgrade components are typically used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to boost the value of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to boost the experience gained when upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be made for extra bonuses. A glyph that is crafted can boost the chances of upgrading its target, and a boost upgrade increases the defense or attack capabilities of the weapon.

By selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will display an upgrade component list that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either instance the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components are gathered.

Each component has its own experience multiplier. This determines how much experience an item can gain when upgraded using the component. For instance, organic components offer more experience multipliers than mechanical ones. It is therefore recommended to upgrade using organic components until you have reached the multiplier of experience for the next rank of the equipment or weapon, and then move to mechanical upgrades.

In addition to the multiplier for experience every item also has an maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades are determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. The highest level of upgrade is a weapon of tier 10. However, the most popular upgrade for weapons is a tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.

Sets

A set is a group of items which share a bonus. Each item can be upgraded at least once. The upgrade increases the guaranteed bonuses. The first time you upgrade an item, its primary stat will be +1. Following upgrades, the primary stats are enhanced even more (for instance the +1 bonus for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded, one of its stats will increase randomly.

Upgrades can also increase a weapon's damage base. This could be crucial for certain types of weapons. However, weapons can't be upgraded to have a greater defense base than their regular base. It is a good option to increase the value of a set and unique items, but it is important to keep in mind that they might not be better than a high-level runeword in any build.

If you're upgrading an item with a bonus, the item can be rerolled one time and the guarantee will reset to zero. The same power die is used to reroll an item, just as it is used to upgrade it. However the new item comes with different bonuses. The NPC [ArmorBoboko Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will need the appropriate amount Minerals and Erons, as well as a power dice of each kind. These are available at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collector, and can be purchased with Gold. NPCs will also provide special rewards for each completed level of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a single time, using the same materials and components as the first item.

Rerolling

If the player has enough to reroll tokens, they are able to reroll any item that they've accumulated during the game. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced by the same level in another set. Reroll tokens can be purchased at the store for a small amount of in-game currency, but they aren't refundable. The new item will have the same bonus features like the first, however the statistics will also differ.

Players can change the identity of their equipment, in addition to changing it's roll by interfacing with a NPC upgrader. This will change the identification from an armor to a weapon or vice versa, all the while keeping its basic stats and the attributes it requires. The change will be permanent and will affect all characters who have the equipment.

Players can also increase the level of their item on any equipped equipment by acquiring upgrade components and interacting with the item's upgrader NPC. The cost of upgrading will depend on the upgrade track, the item type and the number of crests. For weapons, each step up will add an additional 5% to its damage.

An upgrade can boost its power, but it will also lower its quality. It is therefore important to find a balance between these two. Some items may not be worth upgrading however, others will need to be upgraded in order to realize their potential. A player may want to upgrade their breakpoint armor using an interesting modification (% block chance or FHR) in order to discover what it could be.

Rerolling is a common practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People use it to gain access to the character or weapon they would not otherwise be able to acquire. Getting these items can be expensive and time-consuming and the RNG gods do not always want to play. The only options left are to spend real cash or grind lots. Rerolling is a popular option in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

You can decide to upgrade the weapon or armor when you upgrade an item. This feature is not available in the current version of the game. I believe it was intended to be a way to add value to rare items, but because equipment generally drops quickly and is only upgraded one level up, you'll usually replace the item before it gets old enough. It is also not worth upgrading items with gem sockets, as the power of the stone will outweigh any increase in ilvl.

When you click on the upgrade option on an item, you will get a small screen with the upgrade template of the item as well as the cost of Valorstone and crest to boost the level of the item. Armor and weapons have different prices, with the latter usually being more expensive. The upgrade template lists the stats to be added to an upgraded item, as well as its current base ilvl.

The crest and Valorstone costs are calculated according to the current ilvl of the item and the upgrade template. Additionally the ilvl of a new upgraded item will be reduced by the upgrade template's lvl decrease percentage. For instance, an upgrade of 8% will decrease the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 8%.

The item will receive upgrades to other stats like critical strike damage, PvE damages and block, parry, and dodge rating in addition to the base level. The increases are also based on the upgrade template.

The amount of defense and damage the item is able to receive when it is leveled can be shown below the cost and upgrade decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. In addition to practice equipment, all other weapons and armor gain these same stats when leveled up. The value of these stats will be dictated by the market, with a perfectly rolled perfect version of a weapon or piece of armor can command significantly more in trade value than unupp'd versions. This is also true for other pieces of armor, such as circlets and Tiaras.
