Twilight Princess Game Review

Twilight Princess is the darkest, most serious and serious Nintendo 3D Zelda game. It pushes the visual presentation of the Wii to its limits. It's darker and more unsettling than The Wind Waker. There are slot demo princess -eyed pigs or effeminate Pirates.

Link is drawn to a different dimension known as Twilight Realm where he takes on the form of both the form of a Hylian wolf and the form of a Hylian while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. The game was highly acclaimed by critics, receiving perfect scores from various publications, including 1UP, CVG, EGM, and GamesRadar. It is widely regarded as one of the best games in the series, and was the top-selling Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess has naturalistic, stylized style of graphics that is similar to Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphic engine. It is the first in the series with an entirely directional control system instead of a fixed perspective as in previous games. This change was made in order to work with the Wii console, which has an interface that is based on pointing. The GameCube version of the game features a section in the back that contains mirror-image maps for players who prefer the fixed view.

After entering the Twilight Realm, Link is transformed into a wolf and meets Midna, a mysterious creature. She informs Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group of shadow beasts, led by the evil sorcerer Zant. She further explains that she is the true ruler of Twili however, she was supplanted and cursed into her current form by Zant.

A short cutscene shows soldiers being killed by the shadow beasts after Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle. Link and Midna then escape the castle through an entrance tunnel to enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can utilize his wolf-like form to move around more freely around the world. Link can also make use of his senses to navigate the world. He can sense the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pick grass from specific patches to summon an animal such as a Hawk, Epona or other. Or, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

Twilight Princess is no different from other Zelda titles in that music plays a significant role. Link can use a musical instrument like the harp or flute to draw attention to and summon animals. He can also command the wolf's form using his voice. He can also use his compass to guide him to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of unique and colorful characters that leave a lasting impression. These quirky and unique characters such as hands emerging from toilets to pirates soaring across vast oceans, are the core of this game. Twilight Princess continues the tradition of previous games by introducing a wide range of memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story who are not only interesting, but also plausible. It's a huge leap forward that a lot of these NPCs aren't just there as victims they actually play a role in the story. NPCs like Rusl who states that the forest is becoming more dangerous now and kidnaps kids, or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf while the kidnappers are taking children all have unique personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza who runs the Boat Rental Cabin and Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, the cat of Telma who helps Wolf Link locate a secret passageway through her bar and sewer system to the castle, and Faron who's spirit is the one who guides Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The two team members defeat Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She possesses a fragment of the Triforce of Wisdom and can change between her human and her impish wolf form. She accosts Link and tells him about her experience in the twilight and how she defeated Zant, the king of Twilight.

Zant, who possesses the other part of the Triforce of Wisdom, is an evil sorcerer and ruler of the Twilight Realm. He was removed to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for stealing their land and enslaving people. Zant's magic keeps him permantently in wolf form, but Midna dispells the power and allows him to change into his human form as required.

The game also has an upgraded horse, called Epona, which is ridden in Hylian and wolf versions. Link can whistle at certain areas of grass to summon the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where the player can name their horse.

Theme

Music is an integral part of any Zelda title. It can make a game feel vast exciting, expansive, and captivating. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its inconsistent and sporadic soundtrack that doesn't capture the emotional impact of certain scenes. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and other games have captivating compositions that explode at the right moment to create a feeling of majestic and eerie.

Twilight Princess was composed by Asuka Ohta and Toru Minegishi. Koji Kondo, the series' composer for the first since Wind Waker was in charge of overseeing the composers. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the traditional approach to the franchise with a minimalist approach to melody and arrangement. The majority of dungeon and field themes start with a single instrument, creating a hypnotic and eerie atmosphere for the player. Midna's Lament, for example, uses a simple keyboard to induce a sense of sadness in the player.

The most prominent examples are dungeon themes, which have a dreary atmosphere. This is most evident in Twilight Realm, which has an dark soundscape that is reminiscent of scenes in the soundtrack of a David Lynch movie. The lack of melody and the traditional arrangement of this track emphasizes its ominous, unsettling nature. Drones and odd patterns collide to create a dark and eerie sound.

Link's hometown song, "Faron Woods," is a more upbeat and joyful track. This song uses a variety soft sounds and strings to create a peaceful and secure feeling for the player. The song is an ode to the most well-known scene in the franchise as it features an melody that is reminiscent of the famous melody that plays at Ocarina of Time's start.

Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change according to the player's location, the activity they're doing and what's happening. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of the theme for each part of the town. Central Square, for instance, has a more boisterous version. These variations add a wonderful addition to the world of Hyrule and add a sense of deepness and immersion.

Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to stop Hyrule from being sucked into the corrupted parallel dimension referred to as the Twilight Realm. To accomplish this, Link adopts the forms of an Hylian or the form of a Wolf and is aided by a woman named Midna.

Midna is the first ruler of the Twili, but she was usurped by Zant and cursed to her imp form. The Sages of the past inform Link and Midna that only the defeat of Ganondorf can be the key to their release from their curse. The Sages explain that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to exist in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter monsters that are hostile and kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen sense of smell helps them track the children's scent to a nearby bridge, and then cross over into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple, battle Diababa and receive the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

At the Lakebed Temple in Lanayru, Midna is able to teleport Link to the fiery rock and uses her power to melt the ice at the bottom of Lake Hylia. The spirit of the recently deceased Zora Queen, Rutela, then appears and informs Link that he has to visit the Lakebed Temple in order to gain access to a treasure from the Zora.

Twilight Princess allows you to ride Epona, the horse from Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Link can select the name of the horse, a change from the predetermined names in the previous games.

Midna and Link are able to recover the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. The Sages reveal to Midna that she is the real ruler of the Twili. She was passed over for the monarchy, and was turned into a power-hungry god. The Sages tell them that they can only defeat Ganondorf if they bring Ganondorf to the light and break the pact between the Twilight kingdom and Hyrule kingdom.
