Purpose Demarcated primary second molar hypomineralization (DMH-Es) is a common developmental defect of enamel, with prevalence estimates between five percent and 20 percent. From the Americas, studies exploring the problem of DMH-Es and explicitly using the European Academy of Pediatric Dentistry diagnostic criteria were limited to some South American countries, but no similar studies were available from any of the North American countries including the United States. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and sociodemographic determinants of DMH-Es among schoolchildren in Indiana, USA. Methods Four hundred twenty-three schoolchildren (average age equals 7.6 [±2.2 standard deviation] years) were examined by a calibrated pediatric dentist. Sociodemographic data were collected from patients' questionnaires and electronic dental records. Results DMH-Es had a prevalence estimate of six percent versus 40 percent overall of any enamel defect (AED) of the primary second molars (PSMs) and/or the permanent first molars (PFMs). Race/ethnicity was significantly associated with a higher overall prevalence of AED of PSMs but not with the prevalence estimate of DMH-Es. Older age group (10 years or older), living in central Indiana, and water fluoridation were significantly associated with a higher overall prevalence of AEDs (P less then 0.01) but not with the prevalence of DMH-Es. Caries experience was significantly higher in children with demarcated molar hypomineralization (DMH) of PFMs and/or PSMs than in the group without. Conclusions DMH-Es prevalence estimate was similar to the global figures. Certain demographic characteristics were significantly associated with the overall prevalence of the enamel defects of the examined teeth.Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of lesion sterilization and tissue repair (LSTR) antibiotic paste comprised of chloramphenicol, tetracycline, and zinc oxide and eugenol (CTZ) versus zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) pulpectomy in the treatment of primary molars with pulp necrosis. Methods A total of 70 three- to eight-year-old subjects with 88 primary mandibular molars with pulp necrosis were included. The teeth were randomized to the CTZ group or ZOE group. The time taken to perform both techniques was recorded. The parents of the children and the dentist who performed clinical evaluations were blind to the group assignment, although the radiographic evaluator could see the difference in treatments. Clinical and radiographic assessments were performed at three, six, nine, and 12 months. Results At the 12-month evaluation, the clinical success was 86.4 percent for CTZ and 90.9 percent for ZOE (P=0.50), the radiographic success was 75.0 percent for CTZ and 72.7 percent for ZOE (P=0.81), and the overall success was 70.5 percent for CTZ and 72.7 percent for ZOE (P=0.81). The mean time taken to perform was 61.4 (±20.5 standard deviation) minutes for CTZ and 145.1 (±53.2) minutes for ZOE (P less then 0.001). Conclusions At 12 months, both techniques presented no significant difference in success rates for nonvital pulp therapy in primary molars with necrosis. Methods A literature search was conducted on electronic bibliographic databases to locate systematic reviews reporting on vital pulp therapy techniques or medicaments with two-arm comparisons and a follow-up period of at least 24 months. Eligible reviews were selected, data were extracted, and the risk of bias was assessed using a risk of bias in systematic reviews (ROBIS) tool. The degree of overlap was evaluated by calculating the corrected covered area (CCA). Results Nine systematic reviews that cited 96 primary studies, with a high degree of overlap (14 percent CCA) were included. Indirect pulp capping had the highest success rate (94 percent) at 24 months, followed by direct pulp capping (88.8 percent), with different medicaments not significantly affecting the outcome. Pulpotomy showed the lowest success rate (82.6 percent), with the highest quality of evidence supporting the effective application of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and formocresol (FC). Conclusions The high success rate of pulp therapy techniques for the management of deep caries in vital primary teeth is evident; nevertheless, there remains insufficient evidence to draw scientifically solid conclusions about which technique and material are superior.NeuroD1 is a neuronal differentiation factor that contains a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) motif. Recently, NeuroD1 was found to be associated with tumorigenesis in neuroblastoma (NB), and is known to promote cell proliferation and migration in these cells. Here, we found that MYCN regulates the expression of NeuroD1 in NB cells, and that the downregulation of MYCN using short hairpin RNAs (shRNA) results in the inhibition of cellular proliferation in NB cells. Moreover, the phenotype induced by MYCN shRNA was rescued by the exogenous expression of NeuroD1. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay showed that MYCN directly binds to the E-box element in the NeuroD1 promoter region. In addition, our evaluation of two clinical databases showed that there was a positive correlation between the expression of MYCN and NeuroD1 in NB patients, which supports our in vitro data. Results of autoregressive latent trajectory models with structured residuals supported an acting out model at the within-person level. Specifically, anxiety symptoms positively predicted indirect aggression and indirect aggression negatively predicted empathic concern at each adjacent time point. The aim of our research was to perform the GLCM analysis of cell nuclei in Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells after the induction of sublethal cell damage with ethyl alcohol, and to evaluate the performance of various machine learning (ML) models regarding their ability to separate damaged from intact cells. For each cell nucleus, five GLCM parameters were calculated angular second moment, inverse difference moment, GLCM contrast, GLCM correlation, and textural variance. Based on the obtained GLCM data, we applied three ML approaches neural network, random trees, and binomial logistic regression. Statistically significant differences in GLCM features were observed between treated and untreated cells. The multilayer perceptron neural network had the highest classification accuracy. The model also showed a relatively high level of sensitivity and specificity, as well as an excellent discriminatory power in the separation of treated from untreated cells. Following India's request for support, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism coordinated the response agreed by EU Member States providing shipments of oxygen and equipment. In this scenario, our Emergency Medical Team (EMT)-2, based in Italy, organized a cargo and a twelve member team of technicians and medical professionals with the main objective of installing a novel source of oxygen. The installation of a PSA oxygen plant provided the ITBP hospital in Greater Noida, India, with a sustainable solution to combat oxygen shortage in less than 48 hours. An exploratory cross-sectional study.

Advertising strategies on the posts of a major fast-food chain on their official Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts. The strategies were investigated according to the INFORMAS protocol for food promotion monitoring. Principal component analysis (PCA) was employed to identify advertising patterns in each platform.

Four advertising patterns were identified in the PCA of Facebook and Instagram. In both platforms, the components for kids and product exaltation were similar. On Facebook, a pattern corresponding to economic appeal was identified as price and discount, while on Instagram, this pattern also included a practical approach. On Facebook, the fourth component was named celebrity, while on Instagram it was celebrity/innovation since on this second social media the component also included the 'new brand development' variable.
