To determine the extent to which it is possible to provide continuity of primary care for those who visit Emergency Departments (EDs) we studied how recorded diagnoses in primary care differ, depending on whether the patient is met in an ED or a primary care office-hours practice. In the present, 12-year follow-up study a report generator of the Electronic Health Record-system provided monthly figures for the number of different recorded diagnoses using the International Classification of Diagnoses (10thedition, ICD-10) and the total number of ED doctors and office-hour visits to General Practitioners (GPs). The 20 most common diagnoses covered 48.1% of the visits with recorded diagnoses to the office hour GPs and 45.9% of the visits to the doctors of the ED. Of these 20 diagnoses, 10 were common in both systems. These 10 diagnoses constituted about 30% of the diagnoses given by ED doctors. Furthermore, five out of the six most common diagnoses were the same in the ED and office-hours practices. The doctors in EDs and office-hour GPs treat quite similar patient material. This may provide organisational ways to reorganise the work of primary care and to guarantee continuity of care for those who may benefit from it.Carmines (E120) are used worldwide as natural food colouring agents of animal origin, with a widespread application, including yoghurts. Despite being considered safe for human health, carmines are known to cause allergic reactions. Our goal was to evaluate the presence of carmines in different yoghurts with a label declaration of E120, purchased in Portugal, and, for the first time, to assess the human risk. The analytical methodology, recommended by JECFA, was based on acid hydrolysis of the samples followed by spectrophotometric UV-Vis analysis at 494 nm. Durvalumab This methodology allowed for a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 39.0 mg/kg and recovery rates higher than 97.7%. All the samples had carmines at levels above the LOQ, ranging between 43.8 and 193.8 mg/kg, with an average of 125.2 ± 34.5 mg/kg. In total, 8 (26.7%) samples exceeded the European Union (EU) maximum permitted level (MPL) established for carmines in this foodstuff, 150 mg/kg. Solid yoghurts presented higher average levels, 137.2 mg/kg, when comchoice.Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), and zinc (Zn) removal from landfill leachate using mesocosm-scale vertical flow wetlands, the effect of recirculation, and the ability of macrophytes to retain metals were evaluated. Wetlands were filled with coarse sand and light expanded clay aggregates and planted with Typha domingensis or Canna indica. Wetlands were operated using intermittent loading, with and without recirculation. Raw leachate was diluted and spiked with metals to reach the following concentrations 0.2 mg L-1 Cr , 0.2 mg L-1 Ni, and0.2 mg L-1 Zn and 1.0 mg L-1 Cr, 1.0 mg L-1 Ni, and 1.0 mg L-1 Zn. Wetlands planted with T. domingensis presented higher metal removal than those planted with C. indica. Recirculation enhanced metal removal efficiencies significantly, being for T. domingensis/C. indica 60/54, 49/47, 61/47% for Cr, Ni, and Zn at 0.2 mg L-1, and 80/71, 76/62, 73/59% for Cr, Ni, and Zn at 1.0 mg L-1, respectively. Metals were efficiently retained by macrophytes. Plant biomass and metal concentrations in roots were significantly higher than in shoots. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis showed that metals were absorbed by internal root tissues. A hybrid wetland planted with T. domingensis may be implemented to improve not only metal but also chemical oxygen demand and total nitrogen removals.

Mobility and medical alert service dogs are an assistive technology for individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions. Informal caregivers of individuals with disabilities are subject to physical and emotional stress due to their responsibilities. Understanding how service dogs, an increasingly common assistive technology, may add to or subtract from caregiver stress is crucial for promoting caregiver well-being. The purpose of this study was to analyze caregiver accounts to understand their perspective on benefits and challenges they face with mobility and medical alert service dogs.

Open ended survey responses from 117 caregivers of service dog recipients (

 = 72 with a service dog,

= 45 on the waitlist) were analysed through a conventional content analysis.

Four major themes were found regarding caregiver and service dog Family Benefits, Caregiver Benefits, Assistance Through Service Dog's Training, and Drawbacks.

Findings suggest that benefits and challenges of mobility and medical serviort. The most commonly mentioned drawbacks include general maintenance of the service dog, grooming needs and travel restrictions. This research is important in order to offer appropriate support to caregivers of individuals with disabilities.

Although simulation-based learning experiences have been widely used in nursing curricula to develop confidence, knowledge, and skills, the use of mental health-related simulation in undergraduate nursing education is sparse.

This project aimed to develop a simulation activity that incorporated the National Safety and Quality Health Service standards in acute mental health for undergraduate nursing students to prepare them for their clinical practicum in mental health. Clinical confidence was evaluated using the Mental Health Clinical Confidence scale.

Mental health clinical confidence increased in students following the activity.

The findings show simulation activities that build on existing knowledge improve student confidence in providing care for people with mental health conditions. This article reports on the development and implementation of a mental health-related simulation-based learning experience in an undergraduate nursing program and builds on the existing knowledge of simulation-based learning in health care education.
