adian university students represents a budding health concern for postsecondary students. The purpose of this study was to examine exercise preferences of college students (CS), and explore potential gender differences to inform interventions. Participants (N = 187, 18-25 years) completed an online survey. Descriptive statistics were conducted to characterize preferences for exercise type and mode of delivery, followed by χ2 tests to assess potential gender differences. CS preferred a combination of moderate intensity cardio and strength training. Most CS preferred exercising on their own with guidance from a program. Men preferred intense strength training at higher rates than women (p less then .001). Findings can inform tailored recruitment messaging and lifestyle interventions for this high-risk population.Among the most serious problems in papaya production are the viruses associated with papaya ringspot and papaya sticky disease (PSD). PSD concerns producers worldwide because its symptoms are extremely aggressive and appear only after flowering. As no resistant cultivar is available, several disease management strategies have been used in affected countries, such as the use of healthy seeds, exclusion of the pathogen, and roguing. In the 1990s, a dsRNA virus, papaya meleira virus (PMeV), was identified in Brazil as the causal agent of PSD. However, in 2016 a second virus, papaya meleira virus 2 (PMeV2), with an ssRNA genome, was also identified in PSD plants. Only PMeV is detected in asymptomatic plants, whereas all symptomatic plants contain both viral RNAs separately packaged in particles formed by the PMeV capsid protein. PSD also affects papaya plants in Mexico, Ecuador, and Australia. PMeV2-like viruses have been identified in the affected plants, but the partner virus(es) in these countries are still unknown. In Brazil, PMeV and PMeV2 reside in laticifers that promote spontaneous latex exudation, resulting in the affected papaya fruit's sticky appearance. Genes modulated in plants affected by PSD include those involved in reactive oxygen species and salicylic acid signaling, proteasomal degradation, and photosynthesis, which are key plant defenses against PMeV complex infection. However, the complete activation of the defense response is impaired by the expression of negative effectors modulated by the virus. This review presents a summary of the current knowledge of the Carica papaya-PMeV complex interaction and management strategies.

Suicide prevention programs help college staff and students identify students at-risk for suicide.

is an online, simulation-based suicide prevention program. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate

effectiveness in changing suicide prevention attitudes and behavior.

170 college students and 140 college staff completed the training module and three surveys.

College staff and students from 24 public, private, and community colleges and universities in Maryland completed

modules and pre-, post-, and 3-month follow-up assessments.

Both college staff and students exhibited significant improvements in reported Preparedness, Likelihood, and Self-Efficacy in gatekeeper attitudes. Students reported significant gains in gatekeeper intervention behaviors.

The current results suggest that

is associated with attitudinal change for college staff and students, but only college students demonstrated statistically significant behavioral impact for both being more likely to ask about suicide y significant behavioral impact for both being more likely to ask about suicide and refer peers to counseling.

To explore the association of educational institution religious affiliation with provision of sexual health services and rates of sexual violence.

Analysis of 500 US college/university websites; secondary data obtained from National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Pluripotin

Content analysis documented institutional religious affiliation and availability of sexual health services. Chi-square tests examined association of services with religious affiliation, while negative binomial models compared rape/fondling rates obtained from NCES between Christian/non-Christian schools.

Results demonstrated an overall deficit in services, with Christian campuses significantly less likely to offer 13 service. Christian schools had increased reports of rape (years 2015/2016) and fondling (year 2015).

Results highlight insufficiency of sexual health services and the need for future research on specific forms of services available and other factors impacting sexual violence. Findings illuminate the importance of aor future research on specific forms of services available and other factors impacting sexual violence. Findings illuminate the importance of a campus' social environment on sexual assault occurrences/reporting and structuring services to meet student needs.

This study aimed to examine the link between friendship instability during emerging adulthood and depressive symptoms. The moderating role of gender and the pursuit (or not) of postsecondary education was also tested.

A total of 268 participants (60.7% women) was interviewed annually between the ages of 22 and 26.

Friendship instability was measured by asking the participants to name their three best friends each year and depressive symptoms were assessed at ages 22 and 26.

A multiple hierarchical regression analysis predicting depressive symptoms at age 26 (while controlling for symptoms at age 22) revealed a triple interaction between friendship instability, gender and the pursuit of postsecondary education. Specifically, friendship instability predicted depressive symptoms at age 26, but only among women pursuing postsecondary education.

These results highlight the importance of maintaining friendships for these individuals.
