Hypertension (HTN) has become a major public health problem which can cause serious complications when it is not well-controlled. Prevention and effective care of HTN require a population-based registry. Thus, establishing this registry can be used to collect comprehensive, timely, and reliable data on epidemiology cases. The aim is to create a registry for the collection of highly required prospective data that will present an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of all individuals with HTN and track them over a particular chronological interval.

The study was divided into three phases At first, a comprehensive literature review was conducted to determine the proposed data classes and data fields. Then, the final minimum data set was designed by a two-round Delphi consensus approach of 20 experts of cardiologists, nephrologists, nutritionist, and health information management. Finally, a web-based registry system was developed by a Structured Query Language environment.

A total of two clinical and nonclinical data categories with nine data classes and 68 data fields were selected for their inclusion in the registry following the consensus phase. A web-based registry was designed with a modular and layered architecture.

This study provides an appropriate information infrastructure for active tracing and monitoring of individuals with HTN. It has provided a practical information system allowing quality improvement, aggregate reporting for planning, and research purposes.

It is known as HALIP (HMGCR Associated Liver Immunofluorescence Pattern). In this study, we furthered the original studies to demonstrate the association of anti-HMGCR antibodies with the HALIP. Human anti-HMGCR antibodies from patients' sera were purified and incubated with rat triple tissue (kidney/stomach/liver). A characteristic HALIP was observed. Additionally, a colocalization assay of human anti-HMGCR antibodies with rabbit polyclonal anti-HMGCR antibodies showed colocalization of both immunofluorescence patterns. Apple vinegar was first analyzed to find out the total acidity, the polyphenolic and flavonoid contents, the total antioxidant capacity, and the free radical scavenging activity. In vivo study on adult male and female Wistar rats was conducted by administering a drink containing either 10% D-glucose or water (control) for five weeks. Apple vinegar is administered daily by gavage (2 mL/kg) to rats fed D-glucose for 5 weeks. The results showed that the polyphenolic content in apple vinegar was 148.02 ± 10.16 mg GAE/100 mL, flavonoid content was 22.93 ± 0.73 QE/100 mL, and total antioxidant capacity was 13.4 ± 0.47 mg AAE/100 mL. Free radical IC50 apple vinegar scavenging activity (DPPH) was 0.74 ± 0.154 μL/mL. The total acidity was (3.24 ± 0.02 mg AAE/100 mL). The treatment during five weeks with D-glucose leads to increased plasma glucose, lipid profile, hepatic enzyme levels, urea, and creatinine. Simultaneous treatment with apple vinegar improves the parameters studied. These results clearly show that the daily consumption of vinegar can reduce the rise in blood sugar and lipid profile induced by hypercaloric diet in rats. Therefore, the use of apple vinegar would have a very beneficial effect in the prevention of metabolic disorders caused by high-caloric food.

Diabetes mellitus is a major chronic illness in Africa that requires lifelong lifestyle interventions and pharmacological therapy. Lifestyle change is the most important aspect of diabetes care and includes diabetes self-management education and support, medical nutrition therapy, physical activity, smoking cessation counseling, and psychosocial care.

The purpose of this project was to review published articles that investigate lifestyle and dietary pattern interventions for diabetes prevention and management in Africa. Barriers to lifestyle interventions and strategies to overcome the barriers are also reviewed in this study.

The article search was conducted in an electronic database search of PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library. Studies were included if they were published between 2011 and 2019, if they were conducted in an African country, and were written in the English language.

Articles reviewed included several that examined the basic lifestyle and dietary pattern changes for all patie of diabetes in Africa. The main barriers to adherence were both systemic (population changes, poor access, western cultural influences, and low-quality healthcare) and personal (poverty and cost, educational status, and perceptions about the disease) in nature. The strategies for the barriers include health education programs, advocacy, and capacity building.Acute aortic dissection (AAD) is an emergent vascular disease. Currently, its diagnosis depends on clinical and radiological investigations but lacking of serum biomarkers. In this study, we aimed to identify potential serum biomarkers for AAD using label-free proteomics approach. A total of 90 serum samples were collected from three groups patients with acute aortic dissection (AAD, n = 30), patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI, n = 30), and healthy controls (n = 30), and the first four samples from each group were selected for label-free proteomics analysis. Using label-free approach, a total of 22 differentially expressed proteins were identified in the serum samples of the AAD group, of which 15 were upregulated and 7 were downregulated as compared to the AMI and healthy control groups. The most prominent increased protein was vinculin, which was selected to validate in total samples. The level of vinculin was significantly elevated in AAD patients (15.8 ng/ml, IQR 9.3-19.9 ng/ml) than that in AMI patients (8.6 ng/ml, IQR5.3-11.4 ng/ml) and healthy volunteers (5.3 ng/ml, IQR2.8-7.6 ng/ml), P less then 0.0001. Furthermore, the concentration of vinculin both increased in type A and B dissection. At the early stage of AAD, vinculin maintained a high level to 48 hours compared with that of AMI. CH was simulated by streptozotocin and nicotinic acid administration. Triceps surae muscle injury was reproduced by transverse linear incision. Autologous PRP was used in order to correct the possible negative CH effect on skeletal muscle recovery. On the 28th day after the injury, the regenerating muscle fiber and blood vessel number in the CH+PRP group were higher than those in the CH rats. However, the connective tissue area in the CH group was larger than that in the CH+PRP animals. The amount of agranulocytes in the regenerating muscle of the CH rats was lower compared to that of the CH+PRP group. The histological analysis of skeletal muscle recovery in CH+PRP animals revealed more intensive neoangiogenesis compared to that in the CH group. This prospective observational study included patients admitted to the ICU of The Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University from February to November 2018. The baseline variables and the occurrence of low free T3 (FT3) were collected. The patients were divided into the NTIS (FT3 less then 3.28) and non-NTIS groups. Among 305 patients, 118 (38.7%) were in the NTIS group. FT3 (P less then 0.001) and FT4 (P = 0.001) were lower, while the 28-day mortality rate (P less then 0.001) and hospitalization expenses in ICU (P = 0.001) were higher in the NTIS group.
