on can serve as a new modality to enhance career competencies among public managers in Malaysia if its effectiveness is proven.
The results from this study will indicate the effectiveness of the career intervention program for career competencies in the reformation of public services management. The intervention can serve as a new modality to enhance career competencies among public managers in Malaysia if its effectiveness is proven. In routine care, internet-delivered cognitive behaviour therapy (iCBT) regularly includes therapist support delivered via secure email, but the optimal response time to emails is unknown. In this study, we compared the benefits of therapists providing support once-weekly versus therapists providing support once-weekly supplemented with a one-business-day response to all patient emails. This pragmatic randomized controlled trial included therapists employed by a specialized iCBT clinic or community mental health clinics, where providing iCBT is a secondary service. Patients with depression and/or anxiety who enrolled in transdiagnostic iCBT (5 core lessons over 8 weeks) were randomized to 1) once-weekly support supplemented with a one-business-day response to patient emails by specialized therapists (n = 233); 2) once-weekly support also offered by specialized therapists (n = 216); or 3) once-weekly support offered by community clinic therapists (n = 226). Outcomes were measured at 8, 12, 24, and 52-weeks post
Online physical activity interventions can be an effective strategy for weight loss. However, there is a lack of systematic reviews examining the relationship between intervention usage (dose) and participants' response to online physical activity interventions for weight loss. It remains unclear whether certain usage metrics (e.g. login frequency, percent of content accessed) would be associated with improvements in behavioral outcomes. Understanding the dose-response relationship for online physical activity interventions for weight loss would be important for designing and evaluating future interventions.
1) Review the methods used to assess intervention usage and 2) to explore the association between intervention usage metrics and outcomes for online physical activity interventions for weight-loss.
We conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines to examine the dose-response relationship of online-based interventions targeting physical activity. We used the following keywords web OR sical activity interventions for weight-loss included login frequency, login duration, and use of online tools. Increased intervention usage appeared to be associated with an improvement in participant's weight, physical activity behaviors, and intervention retention. Future research should examine innovative ways to maintain intervention usage throughout the intervention.A coach-guided Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention that uses a blended approach of two face-to-face and five online sessions (iACT; N = 33) has been found to be more effective than a waiting-list control condition (WLC; N = 35) at enhancing the wellbeing of university students while also reducing stress and depression. The present study explored possible mediators of change that may account for the outcomes of the study. Mediation analyses revealed that changes in the non-reactivity subscale of mindfulness mediated changes in wellbeing, depression, and stress in the iACT group. S/GSK1265744 In addition, changes in the sense of coherence subscale of meaningfulness mediated changes in all outcomes. Psychological flexibility and cognitive defusion did not mediate changes in outcomes. The results suggest that the use of practices focusing on non-reactivity, meaning the ability to allow thoughts and feelings to come and go without getting carried away by them, is especially important for enhancing the wellbeing of university students. A focus on enhancing meaningfulness also plays a significant role in reducing psychological distress. These findings provide a first step toward understanding the potential mechanisms of change taking place in brief, Internet-supported, blended ACT programs. This study examined the changes in haematological and biochemical variables in response to gastric mucosa injury in male Wistar rats divided into four groups according to their ages (3, 6, 12, and 18 months). 0.2 ml of acetic acid was injected intraluminal into the stomach glandular portion of each rat for 45 seconds under anaesthesia. Collection of blood and stomach samples occurred on days 3, 7, 14 and 21 post-induction of gastric ulcer. The results obtained from this study showed 100 % area of gastric mucosa healed in 3-month old rats, 91.72 %, 68.52 % and 62.81 % area of mucosa treated in 6, 12 and 18-month old rats respectively on day 21 post-induction of gastric ulcer. Increased circulation of blood cells in younger rats occurred, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was decreased in younger rats (3 and 6 months) significantly (p less then 0.05) when compared to older rats (12 and 18 months). Lipid peroxidation and glutathione (GSH) levels were elevated in older rats (12 and 18 months) significantly (p less then 0.05) when compared to younger rats (3 and 6 months). In comparison, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase levels were decreased in older rats (12 and 18 months) significantly (p less then 0.05) when compared to younger rats (3 and 6 months). Histological evaluation showed evidence of early healing with re-epithelialisation and angiogenesis in younger rats, but older rats showed delayed healing. The study showed that the slower rate of healing of gastric ulcer with advancing age in rats might be due to reducing circulating blood cells and anti-inflammatory activities during healing via a lipid peroxidation-dependent mechanism.Humic substances are ubiquitous in soils and waters. These complex superstructures are derived from the decomposition of dead plant and animal matter and are vital to soil health. S/GSK1265744 Their heterogenous composition is specific to their site of origin and is comprised of weakly bound aggregates of small organic compounds that can sequester minerals and make them available to plants. As such, they may possess potential nutritional value for humans, and extractions of fulvic and humic acids can be produced that could be suitable for such purposes. For this reason, we evaluated the toxicological profile of a specific preparation (blk. 333) of fulvic and humic acids derived from a lignite deposit in Alberta, Canada and found it to lack genotoxic potential in a bacterial reverse mutation test, in vitro mammalian chromosomal aberration test, and in vivo mammalian micronucleus test. No general or organ toxicity was observed in Wistar rats following 90 days of continuous exposure, and a no observed adverse effect level (NOEAL) was determined at 2000 mg/kg bw/day, the highest tested dose.
