Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only every few times.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature important for families with children or pets. Many of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. robot vacuum cleaners makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.
Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums with cords that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It swiftly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also offers easy access to 2 attachments and the wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical, not an exceptional, run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). However, this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently is power-depleted before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, can change the suction power mode by hand and comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and more. It's simple to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps to keep the bin clean and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They have a wider cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the area clean for the longest time. In addition, they have two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is picking up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map, and control functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and then return it to its dock for charging by pressing a button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily identify which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually if needed. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without registering the high point. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
