To examine longitudinal effects of school policies on children's weight status and eating behaviors, and study how these effects may vary by children's age, sex, and baseline weight status in China.

Data were collected in 2015, 2016, and 2017 in an open cohort of 3298 children aged 6-17, their parents, and schools in five large cities across China (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Nanjing, and Chengdu). Children's weight, height, and waist circumference were measured, and their eating behaviors were self-reported. The 1691 children with such repeated measures in ≥ two waves were included in longitudinal data analysis with mixed effects models, testing the associations.

Having school vicinity food stall policy was associated with less frequent consumption of fast food (β = -0.14, p < 0.01) and snack (β = -0.84, p < 0.01). More significant associations were found between school policies and unhealthy eating behaviors for girls and children aged 6-11 than their counterparts. Among children without overweight or central obesity at baseline, having school cafeteria food policy was associated with lower risks for overweight and obesity (OR = 0.33, 95% CI 0.17-0.63) and central obesity (OR = 0.47, 95% CI 0.26-0.85). This existed for girls, but not for boys. School vicinity food stall policy was associated with lower BMI (β = -0.20, 95% CI -0.37, -0.03) among all children and in girls (β = -0.28, 95% CI -0.50, -0.05) without overweight at baseline.

Angiotensin II type-1 receptor (AT1R)-associated protein (ATRAP) was originally identified as an AT1R-binding protein. Previously, we reported that systemic knockout of ATRAP exacerbates kidney fibrosis in aged mice. Although these effects of ATRAP appeared to be AT1R-independent actions, the molecular mechanism remains poorly understood. To elucidate the molecular mechanism of ATRAP independent of AT1R, we explored novel ATRAP-interacting proteins. Mass spectrometric analysis of the immunoprecipitants of a Flag-tagged ATRAP complex revealed 376 candidate proteins that potentially interact with ATRAP. Gene ontology analysis revealed that proteins related to vesicle trafficking, membrane transport, and many membrane proteins, including transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1), were enriched. Because TfR1 promotes cellular iron uptake and iron is a key factor involved in kidney fibrosis, we focused on TfR1 and confirmed that it interacts with ATRAP. In addition, our findings revealed that enhanced ATRAP expression decreased cell-surface TfR1 expression without altering the overall cellular TfR1 expression levels. Furthermore, enhanced ATRAP expression attenuated cellular iron levels. Together, our results highlight the role of ATRAP as a suppressor of TfR1 that functions by facilitating TfR1 internalization, which affects iron metabolism and oxidative stress signaling.The aim of the current study was to determine the prevalence of anatomic variant in cephalic arch on preoperative mapping venography and evaluate patency rates and predictors of patency in patients with brachiocephalic fistulas. The prevalence of anatomic variant in cephalic arch was retrospectively evaluated in 1004 consecutive patients who underwent bilateral preoperative mapping venography from July 2006 to December 2018 in a single center. The overall prevalence of anatomic variant in cephalic arch was 17.2% (173/1004). For patency analysis, 128 patients with brachiocephalic fistulas were divided into two groups a standard anatomy (SA) group (n = 97) and a variant anatomy (VA) group (n = 31). There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics between the two groups. The primary patency rate did not differ significantly between the two groups. The secondary patency rate was significantly (p = 0.009) lower in the VA group than in the SA group. Older age (HR 1.03; 95% CI 1.01-1.05; p = 0.007) was a negative predictor of primary patency, and antiplatelet agent (HR 0.53; 95% CI 0.33-0.84; p = 0.007) and large-diameter cephalic vein (HR 0.52; 95% CI 0.31-0.86; p = 0.012) were positive predictors of primary patency. Older age (HR 1.04; 95% CI 1.01-1.07; p = 0.011) and anatomic variant in cephalic arch (HR 2.9; 95% CI 1.19-7.06; p = 0.019) were negative predictors of secondary patency. The current study provides insight into the clinical significance of anatomic variant in cephalic arch. We investigated mechanobiological responses of whole synovium from patients with late-stage knee osteoarthritis (OA). Synovium samples were collected during total knee arthroplasty and assigned to histopathology or cyclic 10% tensile strain loading, including (1) static (control); (2) low-frequency (0.3 Hz); and iii) high-frequency (1.0 Hz) for 30-min. After 6-h incubation, tissues were bisected for RNA isolation and immunostaining (3-nitrotyrosine; 3-NT). RNA sequencing was analyzed for differentially expressed genes and pathway enrichment. Cytokines and lactate were measured in conditioned media. Compared to controls, low-frequency strain induced enrichment of pathways related to interferon response, Fc-receptor signaling, and cell metabolism. High-frequency strain induced enrichment of pathways related to NOD-like receptor signaling, high metabolic demand, and redox signaling/stress. Metabolic and redox cell stress was confirmed by increased release of lactate into conditioned media and increased 3-NT formation in the synovial lining. Late-stage OA synovial tissue responses to tensile strain include frequency-dependent increases in inflammatory signaling, metabolism, and redox biology. Here we show the presence and location of extensive reef habitats on the continental shelf between the Amazon Reef System (ARS) and the Eastern Brazilian Reef System (ERS), two reef complexes off eastern South America. Formations located 20-50 m deep include both biogenic and geogenic structures. The presence of diverse reef assemblages suggests the widespread occurrence of rocky substrates below 50 m. These habitats represent an expansion of both the ARS and ERS and the closure of the only remaining large-scale gap (~ 1000 km) among West Atlantic reef environments. This indicates that the SW Atlantic harbors a single, yet heterogeneous, reef system that stretches for about 4000 km, and thus, represents one of the largest semi-continuous tropical marine ecosystems in the world.There have been limited studies on the association between prognosis and body weight change in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). This single-center retrospective observational study evaluated the impact of weight loss on outcomes in Korean patients with IPF receiving pirfenidone at a tertiary medical institution. We analyzed 215 IPF patients prescribed pirfenidone from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2019. The patients were categorized into maintained weight (MW; weight gain or loss  less then  5%/year) and reduced weight (RW; weight loss ≥ 5%/year) groups. The mean age was 71.8 years and 175 (81.4%) were male. There were 54 (25.1%) patients in the RW group. All patients showed a decrease in body weight (baseline vs. after 1 year; 64.1 kg vs. 62.8 kg, P  less then  0.001). Although baseline lung function showed a difference, there was no difference in the rate of change (forced vital capacity [% of predicted]; P = 0.221, diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide [% of predicted]; P = 0.973). The MW group had a lower risk of all-cause mortality (P  less then  0.001). Weight loss appeared to be a significant risk factor for mortality in patients with IPF. Unlike typical cancer treatments, autologous CAR T cell therapies are patient-specific; this makes them a unique therapeutic to manufacture and distribute. In this work, we focus on the development of a computer modelling tool to assist the design and assessment of supply chain structures that can reliably and cost-efficiently deliver autologous CAR T cell therapies. We focus on four demand scales (200, 500, 1000 and 2000 patients annually) and we assess the tool's capabilities with respect to the design of responsive supply chain candidate solutions while minimising cost.
