Hence, a proper CO2 management strategy, including appropriate CO2 capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), has become a prime concern globally. On the other hand, C1 chemicals such as methanol (CH3OH) and formic acid (HCOOH) have emerged as leading materials for a wide range of applications in various industries, including chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and even energy sectors. Hence, there is a concerted effort to bridge the gap between CO2 management and methanol/formic acid production by employing CO2 as a C1-synthon. CO2 hydrogenation to methanol and formic acid has emerged as one of the primary routes for directly converting CO2 to a copious amount of methanol and formate, which is typically catalyzed by transition metal complexes. In this frontier article, we have primarily discussed the abundant first-row transition metal-driven hydrogenation reaction that has exhibited a significant surge in activity over the past few years. We have also highlighted the potential future direction of the research while incorporating a comparative analysis for the competitive second and third-row transition metal-based hydrogenation. This paper explores the processes underlying verb metaphoric extension. Work on metaphor processing has largely focused on noun metaphor, despite evidence that verb metaphor is more common. Across three experiments, we collected paraphrases of simple intransitive sentences varying in semantic strain-for example, The motor complained → The engine made strange noises-and assessed the degree of meaning change for the noun and the verb. We developed a novel methodology for this assessment using word2vec. In Experiments 1 and 2, we found that (a) under semantic strain, verb meanings were more likely to be adjusted than noun meanings; (b) the degree of verb meaning adjustment-but not noun meaning adjustment-increased with semantic strain; and (c) verb meaning extension is primarily driven by online adjustment, although sense selection also plays a role. In Experiment 3, we replicated the word2vec results with an assessment using human subjects. The results further showed that nouns and verbs change meaning in qualitatively different ways, with verbs more likely to change meaning metaphorically and nouns more likely to change meaning taxonomically or metonymically. These findings bear on the origin and processing of verb metaphors and provide a link between online sentence processing and diachronic change over language evolution.Wrinkles and sagging are caused by various factors, such as ultraviolet rays; however, recent findings demonstrated that some individuals are genetically predisposed to these phenotypes of skin aging. The contribution of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to the development of wrinkles and sagging has been demonstrated in genome-wide association studies (GWAS). However, these findings were mainly obtained from European and Chinese populations. Limited information is currently available on the involvement of SNPs in the development of wrinkles and sagging in a Japanese population. Therefore, we herein performed GWAS on wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes and nasolabial folds in 1041 Japanese women. The results obtained revealed that 5 SNPs (19p13.2 rs2303098 (p = 3.39 × 10-8 ), rs56391955 (p = 3.39 × 10-8 ), rs67560822 (p = 3.50 × 10-8 ), rs889126 (p = 3.78 × 10-8 ), rs57490083 (p = 3.99 × 10-8 )) located within the COL5A3 gene associated with wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes. Regarding nasolabial folds, 8q24.11 (rs4876369; p = 1.05 × 10-7 , rs6980503; p = 1.25 × 10-7 , rs61027543; p = 1.25 × 10-7 , rs16889363; p = 1.38 × 10-7 ) was suggested to be associated with RAD21 gene expression. These SNPs have not been reported in other populations, and were first found in Japanese women population. These SNPs may be used as markers to examine the genetic predisposition of individuals to wrinkles and sagging.Superficial fungal infections are of serious concern worldwide due to their morbidity and increasing distribution across the globe in this era of growing antimicrobial resistance. The delivery of antifungals to the target regions of the skin and sustaining the effective drug concentration are essential for successful treatment of such mycoses. Topical formulations get extra benefits here if they penetrate into the hair follicles since fungal hyphae can proliferate and produce spores in such reservoirs. We designed a novel particulate system for the encapsulation and intrafollicular delivery of griseofulvin (Gf) antifungal drug, which is water-insoluble and currently commercially available in oral dosage forms. Micron-sized calcium carbonate (vaterite) carriers containing 25 ± 3% (w/w) of Gf were prepared via the wet chemical method. The successful in vivo transportation of the carriers into the hair follicles of rats was demonstrated using scanning electron and confocal laser scanning microscopy. In addition, pplication of the free drug did not provide reliable Gf detection for this period. These findings open new prospects for the efficiency enhancement of topical therapeutics. Importantly, the elaborated system could be adapted for the dermal delivery of various water-insoluble drugs beyond the scope of antifungal therapy.Clinical trials with longitudinal outcomes typically include missing data due to missed assessments or structural missingness of outcomes after intercurrent events handled with a hypothetical strategy. Approaches based on Bayesian random multiple imputation and Rubin's rules for pooling results across multiple imputed data sets are increasingly used in order to align the analysis of these trials with the targeted estimand. We propose and justify deterministic conditional mean imputation combined with the jackknife for inference as an alternative approach. The method is applicable to imputations under a missing-at-random assumption as well as for reference-based imputation approaches. In an application and a simulation study, we demonstrate that it provides consistent treatment effect estimates with the Bayesian approach and reliable frequentist inference with accurate standard error estimation and type I error control. A further advantage of the method is that it does not rely on random sampling and is therefore replicable and unaffected by Monte Carlo error.
Although disabling fatigue is common in Parkinson disease (PD), available consensus-based diagnostic criteria have not yet been empirically validated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinimetric properties of the criteria.
A sample of outpatients with PD was evaluated for demographic, clinical, behavioral, and cognitive features. Fatigue was diagnosed according to the new diagnostic criteria and was rated by means of the Parkinson Fatigue Scale (PFS) and Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS). Acceptability, concurrent and discriminant validity, and interrater reliability were evaluated with binary logistic regression analyses and Cohen kappa (κ).
Of 241 included patients, 17 (7.1%) met the diagnostic criteria for PD-related fatigue. Eight of nine symptoms described in Section A of the diagnostic criteria occurred in >50% of patients with fatigue. Acceptability (missing data=0.8%) of the criteria was good, as was their concurrent validity with the PFS (odds ratio=3.65) and FSS (odds ratio=3.63). The discriminant validity of fatigue criteria with other PD-related behavioral and cognitive features was good (odds ratio < 1.68). The interrater reliability was excellent (κ=0.92).
This is the first study to test the clinimetric properties of case definition diagnostic criteria for PD-related fatigue. Our results suggest that current diagnostic criteria may be useful in both clinical practice and research. Future longitudinal studies should examine their long-term stability.

Dysregulation of the transmembrane heparan sulphate proteoglycan Syndecan-1 (Sdc-1) plays a role in tumour progression of invasive breast cancer (IBC). In DCIS, Sdc-1, c-Met and E-cadherin are part of a proangiogenic expression signature. In this study, we employed a siRNA knockdown approach in the DCIS model cell line MCF10A DCIS.com to investigate a potential connection between Sdc-1 and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT), proteolysis and the Rho kinase pathway. Analysis of gene expression data of the TNMplot.com database revealed that Sdc-1 expression was higher in primary breast tumours compared to metastases. The impact of Sdc-1-depletion on the cellular phenotype was investigated in a Matrigel-based three-dimensional cell culture model. Sdc-1 depletion resulted in the formation of larger spheroids and the formation of invasive protrusions. Application of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) and Rho kinase inhibitors could block the Sdc-1-induced phenotype. qPCR analysis of Sdc-1-depleted cells in two-dimensional culture revealed upregulated expression of the EMT-markers CDH1, FN-1, CLDN1, the proteolysis markers MMP3, and MMP9, and HPSE, while MMP2, VIM and ROCK-2 were downregulated. Immunocytochemistry confirmed upregulation of MMP9 and fibronectin, the latter being particular prominent after ROCK inhibition. STRING analysis confirmed an interaction of the investigated gene products at the protein level. Our results suggest that diminished Sdc-1 expression plays a role in DCIS progression to IBC through deregulation of proteolytic factors and a partial EMT.The bioaccessibility of carotenoids varies among different foods due to factors such as food matrix composition and type or extent of processing. Hence it is important to understand the extent to which these factors influence carotenoid bioaccessibility after the consumption and digestion of food. This study evaluated the carotenoid content, micellization efficiency, digestive stability, antioxidant activity and bioaccessibility of carotenoids as impacted by wheat cultivar and cooking duration among whole wheat flour (WWF) and refined semolina (RS) pasta. WWF and RS pasta were processed from three durum wheat cultivars (AAC Spitfire, CDC Precision, and Transcend) and cooked to al dente (Al), fully cooked (FCT) or overcooked (OC). The study showed that the wheat cultivar and cooking duration were significant functions of bioaccessible lutein in RS samples while only the cultivar influenced the bioaccessibility of zeaxanthin and lutein in WWF samples. In both WWF and RS, the effect of the cultivar on the bioaccessibility of lutein and zeaxanthin was similar and was as follows Transcend > CDC Precision > AAC Spitfire.
