In a ciliate Paramecium, the presence of water channels on the membrane of contractile vacuole has long been predicted by both morphological and physiological data, however, to date either the biochemical or the molecular biological data have not been provided. In the present study, to examine the presence of aquaporin in Paramecium, we carried out RT-PCR with degenerated primers designed based on the ParameciumDB, and an aquaporin cDNA (aquaporin 1, aqp1) with a full-length ORF encoding 251 amino acids was obtained from Paramecium multimicronucleatum by using RACE. The deduced amino acid sequence of AQP1 had NPA-NPG motifs, and the prediction of protein secondary structure by CNR5000 and hydropathy plot showed the presence of six putative transmembrane domains and five connecting loops. Phylogenetic analysis results showed that the amino acid sequence of AQP1 was close to that of the Super-aquaporin group. The AQP1-GFP fusion protein clearly demonstrated the subcellular localization of AQP1 on the contractile vacuole complex, except for the decorated spongiome membrane. The functional analyses of aqp1 were done by RNA interference-based gene silencing, using an established feeding method. The aqp1 was found to be crucial for the total fluid output of the cell, the function of contractile vacuole membranes.Immunotherapy is recognized as one of the most promising approaches to treat cancers. However, its effect in glioblastoma (GBM) treatment is insufficient, which can in part be attributed to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Microglia and macrophages are the main immune infiltrating cells in the TME of GBM. Unfortunately, instead of initiating the anti-tumor response, GBM-infiltrating microglia and macrophages switch to a tumor-promoting phenotype (M2), and support tumor growth, angiogenesis, and immunosuppression by the release of cytokines. In this work, a virus-mimicking membrane-coated nucleic acid nanogel Vir-Gel embedded with therapeutic miRNA is developed, which can reprogram microglia and macrophages from a pro-invasive M2 phenotype to an anti-tumor M1 phenotype. By mimicking the virus infection process, Vir-Gel significantly enhances the targetability and cell uptake efficiency of the miR155-bearing nucleic acid nanogel. In vivo evaluations demonstrate that Vir-Gel apparently prolongs the circulation lifetime of miR155 and endows it with an active tumor-targeting capability and excellent tumor inhibition efficacy. Owing to its noninvasive feature and effective delivery capability, the virus-mimicking nucleic acid nanogel provides a general and convenient platform that can successfully treat a wide range of diseases.
This research aimed to investigate the food acculturation experiences of Iranian mothers who have migrated to Australia.
The study used qualitative methodology to interview seven mothers with children aged 5 to 15 years, who carried primary responsibility for family food provisioning; arrived in Australia within the last 5 years; and spoke reasonably fluent English.
Seven mothers were interviewed, and the findings revealed three broad themes (a) adjusting to foods/foodways in Australia (b) sociocultural identity and (c) children and intergenerational conflict. The study highlighted psychosocial and economic stresses associated with food acculturation for this immigrant group. The impact of food acculturation on immigrant health is intricately linked to the complex balance between maintaining traditional cultural identity and practices, while at the same time adapting to the food culture and practices of the new home.
Dietitians and healthcare professionals working with such immigrant groups need to consider food acculturation stress as a factor contributing to the health risks of new immigrants.

We aimed to compare the therapeutic effects of hysteroscopic polypectomy with and without doxycycline treatment on chronic endometritis (CE) with endometrial polyps.
DESIGN A cross-sectional study was conducted on 267 infertile patients, of whom 243 were recruited, who underwent hysteroscopic polypectomy between March 2019 and March 2020. During surgery, the endometrial specimens for the immunohistochemistry analysis of the plasma cell marker CD138 and for the intrauterine bacterial culture were obtained to diagnose CE, and the prevalence of CE was analyzed. Of the 222 women who were diagnosed with CE after polypectomy, we treated 62 women with doxycycline (antibiotic group) and did not provide antibiotics in 160 women (non-antibiotic group).
Most of the infertile patients with endometrial polyps had CE (92.6%). see more The recovery rate from CE by hysteroscopic polypectomy was significantly higher in the non-antibiotic group than in the antibiotic group (88.8% and 58.1%, respectively, p<0.0001). The duration of recovery from CE in the non-antibiotic group was shorter than that in the antibiotic group (42.6±41.0 and 56.5±32.3days, respectively, p<0.0001). The clinical pregnancy rate within 6months in non-antibiotic group was higher than that in the antibiotic group (63.2% and 43.8%, respectively, p=0.034).
Endometrial polyps are significantly associated with CE. Most CE patients with endometrial polyps had been cured by polypectomy without doxycycline. Inappropriate antibiotic therapy may delay recovery from CE and decrease the efficacy of polypectomy on CE and pregnancy rates.

This study aimed at exploring the impact of professional identity and psychological reward satisfaction on subjective well-being and clarifying the effect of psychological reward satisfaction on this relationship.
People know little about the effect of psychological reward satisfaction on the relationship between professional identity and subjective well-being.
A cross-sectional survey was carried out on 1,009 nurses from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province of China. Professional Identity Scale, Psychological Reward Satisfaction Scale and General Well-Being Schedule were used to assess professional identity, psychological reward satisfaction and subjective well-being, respectively. Associations were explored by using structural equation modelling.
The subjective well-being of 436 (43.2%) nurses was at low and moderate levels. After the adjustment of potential confounding factors, professional identity was still associated with subjective well-being (B=3.035, β=0.215, p<.001). Professional identity (r=.
