BPs are not a perfect substitute to solve plastic pollution, and further exploration should focus on their generation, environmental behavior, ecological impact and whether BMPs cause more harm than conventional MPs.Maximum insertion torque (IT) for threaded dental implants is a primary clinical measurement to assess implant anchorage, and strongly influences the clinical outcome. Insertion torque is influenced by surgical technique, implant designs, and patient factors such as bone density and quality. In this study, an analytical model was proposed for IT to estimate contributions from the thread and taper separately. The purpose of this study was to test if the analytical model could 1. differentiate the parallel-walled and tapered implant; and, 2. represent four factors bone surrogate density, drill protocol, implant surface finish and cutting flute. The IT was modeled as the sum of the torques from the thread's inclined plane and interface shear stress from the tapered body integrated over the surface area, respectively, with two main parameters effective force, F', F' and effective pressure, p'. The effective force, relates to the clamping force from the thread, while the effective pressure, p', associates with the contact pressure at the bone-implant interface. The model performed well (R2 = 0.88-1.0) and differentiated between the parallel-walled (p'= 0) and tapered implants (p'= 0.12). The model's parameters could individually represent the effects of the four factors. High bone surrogate density, two-step drill protocol, and rough surface increased both F' and p'. The cutting flute had opposing effects on F' and p' (β4 = 0.35 and -0.24, respectively); and therefore, had the lowest net effect on IT. The proposed analytical model therefore improves the understanding of the principal contributors to dental implant IT by considering thread and taper mechanics independently.Qualitative relationships between two instances of conscious experiences can be quantified through the perceived similarity. Previously, we proposed that by defining similarity relationships as arrows and conscious experiences as objects, we can define a category of qualia in the context of category theory. However, the example qualia categories we proposed were highly idealized and limited to cases where perceived similarity is binary either present or absent without any gradation. Here, we introduce enriched category theory to address the graded levels of similarity that arises in many instances of qualia. Enriched categories generalize the concept of a relation between objects as a directed arrow (or morphism) in ordinary category theory to a more flexible notion, such as a measure of distance. As an alternative relation, here we propose a graded measure of perceived dissimilarity between the two objects. We claim that enriched categories accommodate various types of conscious experiences. An important consequence of this claim is the application of the Yoneda lemma in enriched category; we can characterize a quale through a collection of relationships between the quale and the other qualia up to an (enriched) isomorphism. This paper summarizes a novel initiative by Qatar mental health services to support Afghan refugee children and adolescents. The project involved evaluating needs, establishing a dedicated team, and setting up a suitable needs-based service. After identifying the needs, a range of appropriate psychiatric, psychological, and allied health interventions was commenced. This unique program has been tremendously successful in providing quality care and has received an immensely positive response. We have demonstrated that a targeted, non-stigmatizing and collaborative mental health response can be highly effective in catering to the needs of individuals affected by a humanitarian crisis.Composting is an important method for treating and recycling organic waste, and the use of microbial inoculants can increase the efficiency of composting. Herein, we illustrate an approach that integrate 16S rRNA amplicon metagenomics and selective culture of thermophilic bacteria for the development of inoculants to improve manure composting. The 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing analysis revealed that Firmicutes and Actinobacteria were dominant in the composting mixture, and that different microbial hubs succeeded during the thermophilic stage. All isolated thermophilic bacteria were affiliated with the order Bacillales, such as Geobacillus, Bacillus, and Aeribacillus. These isolated thermophilic bacteria were grouped into 11 phylotypes, which shared >99% sequence identity to 0.15% to 5.32% of 16S rRNA reads by the amplicon sequencing. Three of these phylotypes transiently enriched during the thermophilic stage. Six thermophilic bacteria were selected from the three phylotypes to obtain seven microbial inoculants. Five out of seven of the microbial inoculants enhanced the thermophilic stage of composting by 16.9% to 52.2%. Three-dimensional excitation emission matrix analysis further revealed that two inoculants (Thermoactinomyces intermedius and Ureibacillus thermophilus) stimulated humification. Additionally, the 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing analysis revealed that inoculation with thermophilic bacteria enhanced the succession of the microbial community during composting. In conclusion, 16S rRNA amplicon metagenomics is a useful tool for the development of microbial inoculants to enhance manure composting. The feasibility of using steel slag and bentonite mixtures to construct the hydraulic barrier of a landfill cover was explored in the present study. Fine-grained steel slag (SS; particle diameter less then 1 mm) and sodium-activated calcium bentonite (SACB) were used to prepare compacted specimens, and the saturated hydraulic conductivity (ks) was measured using a flexible-wall permeameter. Influential factors including SACB content (BC), SS gradation, water-washing treatment of SS and compaction water content (ωcomp) were investigated. The hydraulic conductivity results were interpreted in microscopic scale through mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that when BC was below 10%, the ks value of the specimens prepared with well graded SS was about one order of magnitude lower than that of the specimens prepared with poorly graded SS. This was due to less macropores caused by better SS gradation. Yet, the effects of SS gradation on ks diminished as BC further increased to 15%, suggesting the dominant role of BC on ks at high BC. Water-washing treatment of SS helped reduce ks significantly to 1.2 × 10-10 m/s at BC of 10%, owing to less multivalent cations and hence lower osmotic swelling reduction caused by cations. Controlling ωcomp 1-2% wetter than the optimum water content (ωopt) also helped reduce ks significantly, owing to the reduction of macropores. Accordingly, it is suggested to use well-graded SS mixed with 10% SACB and then compact at ωcomp slightly wetter than ωopt to the degree of compaction greater than 90% in engineering practice.

In the resection of oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OCSCC), an intraoperative positive surgical margin (SM) communicated to the head and neck surgeon necessitates further resection of the area of identified involvement to achieve a final negative SM. The prognostic implication of initial positive SM when the final SM is negative is understudied.

We retrospectively reviewed 249 patients with non-metastatic (stage I-IVB) OCSCC who underwent a resection from 2010 to 2019 to assess the prognostic impact of an initial positive SM. Chi-squared analysis was used to evaluate the association between an initial positive SM and clinicopathologic parameters. A Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed to estimate patient outcomes with Cox regression analysis used to determine absolute hazards.

At a median follow-up of 28.4months, the 2-year freedom from local recurrence (FFLR), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) rates were 82.1%, 63.5%, and 78.5%, respectively. Fifty patients (20.1%) had an initial positive SM which was revised to a negative SM on frozen and permanent sections by resecting further tissue while 12 patients (4.8%) had a final positive SM. An initial positive SM was independently associated with a worse FFLR (HR 2.696, p=0.004), DFS (HR 1.57, p=0.044), and OS (HR 1.72, p=0.029).

An initial positive SM is independently associated with worse disease control and patient survival. A positive SM may be a surrogate for diffusely infiltrative disease as further malignancy identified on the re-resection specimen was associated with worse outcomes.

To identify predictors of overall survival (OS) in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) patients who achieved complete response (CR).

We performed a retrospective study of OPSCC patients who achieved CR from a single academic medical center. Associations between OS, AJCC 8th edition staging system, definitive treatment choice, smoking history, and p16 status were assessed.

p16+ status was associated with favorable prognosis for CR (p<0.001) but not non-CR (p=0.67) patients. For early stage, p16+ OPSCC patients who achieved CR, surgery+adjuvant radiation (RT) treatment was more durable compared to concurrent chemoradiation (CRT), particularly in smokers.

Curative intent treatment choice and smoking history has an impact on the long-term OS of the CR p16+ OPSCC cohort. Prospective studies to define the optimal multi-modality treatment option to manage p16+ OPSCC patients is needed.

In this context, the public sector is mainly recognised as an actor enabling the implementation of a sustainable CE through governmental interventions and policy initiatives. However, there is a lack of studies considering the public sector at an organisational level. CE in organisations includes a wide range of different practices that are important to examine in order to analyse the CE implementation process. SNS-032 purchase Consequently, this study aims to characterise the current state of implementing circular practices and supporting strategies in central public sector organisations. To fulfil this aim, a questionnaire survey was sent to the organisations pertaining to the Portuguese Central Public Administration, as surveys are valuable tools to systematically collect inf building a vision to further implement circularity in public sector organisations. The packed anode bioelectrochemical system (Pa-BES) developed in this study is a type of BES that introduces waste gas into a cathode and then into an anode, thereby providing the cathode with sufficient oxygen and reducing the amount of oxygen to the anode to promote the output of electricity. When the empty-bed residence time was 45 s and the liquid flowrate was 35 mL/s, the system achieved optimal performance. Under these conditions, removal efficiency, mineralization efficiency, voltage output, and power density were 93.86%, 93.37%, 296.3 mV, and 321.12 mW/m3, respectively. The acetone in the waste gas was almost completely converted into carbon dioxide, indicating that Pa-BES can effectively remove acetone and has the potential to be used in practical situations. A cyclic voltammetry analysis revealed that the packings exhibited clear redox peaks, indicating that the Pa-BES has outstanding biodegradation and power generation abilities. Through microbial community dynamics, numerous organics degraders, electrochemically active bacteria, nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria were found, and the spatial distribution of these microbes were identified.
