We aimed to investigate whether in the literature there is a sound evidence that activities with robots improve the abilities and performances of children with special needs. This paper explores the methodological aspects as well as the outcomes of the selected studies to provide a clear picture of the state-of-the-art on this topic. After a systematic search in the online database via keyword searches, 15 scientific papers were included in this review. We applied strict selection criteria limiting our review only to papers reporting educational robotics activities with children (from 3 up to 19 years old) with a diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders, in which the children had the opportunity to somehow program the behaviours of real robots. The majority of experiences showed improvements in the participants' performance or abilities, their engagement and involvement, communication/interaction with peers, during robotics sessions. Some studies reported mixed results, calling for the need to carefully design the objective and the related activities of each experience.Our previous reports showed that 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1α,25(OH)2D3) has antiproliferative actions in endothelial cells stably expressing viral G protein-coupled receptor (vGPCR) associated with the pathogenesis of Kaposi's sarcoma. It has been reported that COX-2 enzyme, involved in the tumorigenesis of many types of cancers, is induced by vGPCR. Therefore, we investigated whether COX-2 down-regulation is part of the growth inhibitory effects of 1α,25(OH)2D3. Proliferation was measured in presence of COX-2 inhibitor Celecoxib (10-20 μM) revealing a decreased in vGPCR cell number, displaying typically apoptotic features in a dose dependent manner similarly to 1α,25(OH)2D3. In addition, the reduced cell viability observed with 20 μM Celecoxib was enhanced in presence of 1α,25(OH)2D3. Remarkably, although COX-2 mRNA and protein levels were up-regulated after 1α,25(OH)2D3 treatment, COX-2 enzymatic activity was reduced in a VDR-dependent manner. Furthermore, an interaction between COX-2 and VDR was revealed through GST pull-down and computational analysis. Additionally, high-affinity prostanoid receptors (EP3 and EP4) were found down-regulated by 1α,25(OH)2D3. Altogether, these results suggest a down-regulation of COX-2 activity and of prostanoid receptors as part of the antineoplastic mechanism of 1α,25(OH)2D3 in endothelial cells transformed by vGPCR.Facial appearance has essential consequences in various social interactions. Previous studies have shown that although people can perceive a variety of impressions from a face, these impressions may form from a relatively small number of core dimensions in the psychological impression space (e.g., valence and dominance). However, few studies have thus far examined which facial shape features contribute to perceptions of the core trait impression dimensions for Asian female faces. This study aimed to identify the commonalities between various facial impressions of Japanese female faces and determine the facial shape components associated with such impressions by applying geometric morphometric (GMM) analysis. In Experiment 1 (Modeling study), Japanese female faces were evaluated in terms of 18 trait adjectives that are frequently used to describe facial appearance in daily life. We found that Japanese female facial appearance is indeed evaluated mainly on the valence and dominance dimensions. In Experiment 2 (Validation study), we confirmed that all the trait impressions were quantitatively manipulated by transforming the facial shape features associated with valence and dominance. Our results provide evidence that various facial impressions derived from these two underlying dimensions can be quantitatively manipulated by transforming facial shape using the GMM techniques.The models and parameters related to the generated curing heat in the molding simulation of composite materials are dependent on the type of resin used and the experimental conditions. Therefore, in this study, we estimated the generated curing heat that changes with time by a data assimilation method, which combines the observation values with simulation values, so that the heat curing simulation of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) becomes closer to the experimental conditions. In the data assimilation method, the temperature distribution on the surface of the composite material was used as an observation value, and the generated curing heat was estimated using an ensemble Kalman filter. By optimizing the data assimilation parameters in advance using the response surface method and estimating the generated curing heat by numerical experiments, the generated curing heat could be estimated with an accuracy represented by the time mean error of less than 6%.Endometrial hyperplasia is a process of endometrial proliferation that results in a thickening of the endometrial tissue. Melatonin might be able to change the pathophysiological process and prognosis into a positive way that might prevent and heal endometrial hyperplasia, which is the first stage of endometrial cancer. For this perspective, we tried to investigate the effect of melatonin on uterine hypertrophy/hyperplasia in an experimental rat model. Forty Wistar-Albino rats were undergone bilateral oophorectomy and randomized into four groups. To create a model of uterine hypertrophy/hyperplasia in all groups, except the control group [C] (n = 10), 4 mg/kg/day estradiol hemihydrate were given for 14 days. The uterine hypertrophy/hyperplasia was evaluated histopathologically in the left uterine horns, then the groups were treated for 14 days as follows; melatonin (10 mg/kg/day/po) [M] (n = 10), melatonin + estradiol hemihydrate (10 mg/kg/day/po and 4 mg/kg/day/po) [M + E] (n = 10), and dark environment [D] (n = 10). Finally, the effects of the melatonin were examined histopathologically in the right uterine horns. An uterine hypertrophy/hyperplasia model was established in all groups compared to the control group (p less then 0.05). In the [M] and [M + E] groups, epithelial cell height and luminal epithelial cell height significantly decreased (41μm vs 12μm, p = 0.005; 14μm vs 10μm, p = 0.005, respectively for [M] group) and (32μm vs 14μm, p = 0.012; 17μm vs 10μm, p = 0.017, respectively for [M + E] group). The [D] group exhibited a significant decrease in epithelial cell height (33μm vs 20μm, p = 0.017). Data related to the potential intervention alternatives and their evaluating criteria were collected from experts, personal experiences and intensive literature reviews, and then validated using stakeholders' focus group discussion. Under such circumstances, individuals with the features of cyberchondria, anxiety sensitivity, and metacognitive beliefs in negative thoughts may suffer more fears than those without these features. Therefore, the present study proposed a model to understand the associations between problematic internet use (PIU), cyberchondria, anxiety sensitivity, metacognition beliefs, and fear of COVID-19. Utilizing a cross-sectional online survey, 651 Iranians completed the following psychometric scales Metacognition Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30), Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire (ASI), Cyberchondria Severity Scale-Short Form (CSS-12), Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S), and Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale (GPIUS). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to assess the proposed model via several fit indices. The indices include Tucker-Lewis index (TLI), comparative fit index (CFI), standardized root mean square residual (SRMR), and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA). The fit indices (CFI = 0.948, TLI = 0.938, RMSEA = 0.053, and SRMR = 0.001) indicated the good fit between the data and the proposed model. Moreover, fear of COVID-19 was significantly and directly predicted by cyberchondria (β = 0.479, p less then .001) and anxiety sensitivity (β = 0.286, p less then .001). The relationship between PIU and cyberchondria with fear of COVID-19 was mediated significantly by anxiety sensitivity and metacognitive beliefs. Because fear of COVID-19 was found to be significantly associated with cyberchondria and anxiety sensitivity, healthcare providers may want to provide additional support for those with cyberchondria and anxiety sensitivity tendencies.In the present age of industrialization, oil contamination in the waste water has become a huge global concern due to its several negative impacts on human health and aquatic ecosystem. In order to address this problem, a novel oleophobic and super-hydrophilic graphene-based membrane has been developed using simple and cost-effective vacuum filtration methodology. Prior developing the membranes, the graphene oxide (GO) sheets were crosslinked with tannic acid (TA) molecules in order to improve their mechanical and surface properties. To obtain the structural and morphological information of the membranes and their constituents, Field Emission Scanning Electron (FE-SEM) microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), FTIR spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy was used. When tested with simulated oilfield effluent samples, these membranes exhibited significant reduction in the values of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS) and turbidity demonstrating low-oil adhesion and preferable oil rejection rates.
