These processes were corroborated with a survey experiment, which showed that those holding incorrect beliefs about COVID-19 gave no greater - or even lower - importance to information when its source was stated as coming from experts than when the source was unstated. Our results suggest weakened trust in public health authorities with prolonged exposure to the epidemic as a potential mechanism for this effect. Weakened responsiveness to expert sources may increase susceptibility to misinformation and our results call for efforts to sustain trust in adapting public health response.This study has highlighted the trend of recently-reported dengue cases after the implementation of the Movement Control Orders (MCOs) caused due to COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia. The researchers used the dengue surveillance data published by the Malaysian Ministry of Health during the 3 phases of MCO (which ranged between 17th March 2020 and 28th April 2020) was used for determining the cumulative number of dengue patients. Thereafter, the dengue cases were mapped using the Geographical Information System (GIS). The results indicated that during the 42 days of MCO in Peninsular Malaysia, 11,242 total cases of dengue were reported. The daily trend of the dengue cases showed a decrease from 7268 cases that occurred before the MCOs to 4662 dengue cases that occurred during the initial 14 days of the COVID-19 pandemic (i.e., MCO I), to 3075 cases occurring during the MCO II and 3505 dengue cases noted during MCO III. The central peninsular region showed a maximal decrease in new dengue cases (52.62%), followed by the northern peninsular region (1.89%); eastern coastal region (1.25%) and the southern peninsular region (1.14%) during the initial MCO implementation. However, an increase in the new dengue cases was noted during the MCO III period, wherein all states showed an increase in the new dengue cases as compared during MCO II. The decrease in the pattern was not solely based on the MCO, hence, further investigation is necessary after considering different influencing factors. Fish such as salmonids are a primary source of protein and essential nutrients. Aquaculture provide income for communities across the world and have a smaller carbon footprint than terrestrial animal-production systems. However, fish diseases are a constant threat, and the use of antibiotics is a source of concern due to its adverse impacts on the environment and human health. Chilean salmon farming has made several efforts to reduce the use of antibiotics for the eradication of piscirickettsiosis, a disease caused by the gram-negative bacteria Piscirickettsia salmonis. Excessive amounts of antibiotics continue to be used in Chilean aquaculture, playing an important role in the emerging public health crisis of antimicrobial resistance. Without doubt, P. salmonis is becoming increasingly resistant to important frontline antimicrobial classes, with severe implications for the future treatment of infectious human and animal diseases. Antimicrobial-resistant bacteria as well as antibiotic residues from salmon production are spreading in the environment, and thus both salmon food commodities and wild organisms can become a source of resistant bacteria that can be transmitted to humans as foodborne contaminants. This urgent threat needs to be addressed by implementing national strategies in compliance with international standards that include both prudent antimicrobial use in marine salmon farms and the investment towards a One Health approach, which combines human, animal and environmental health.Astroviruses are a genetically diverse group of viruses that infect a wide range of hosts, including small mammals. Small mammals were trapped at 19 sites across Singapore from November 2011 to May 2014. Pooled oropharyngeal and rectal swabs (n = 518) and large intestine tissue (n = 107) were screened using a PCR to detect the presence of Astrovirus RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) gene. Astroviruses were detected in 93 of 625 (14.9%) of samples tested, with eight of 11 species of rats, shrews, and squirrels testing positive. This is the first detection of astroviruses in seven species (Callosciurus notatus, Mus castaneus, Rattus tanezumi, Rattus tiomanicus, Sundamys annandalei, Suncus murinus and Tupaia glis). Phylogenetic analysis of 10 RdRp gene sequences revealed that astroviruses from Singapore small mammals fall in three distinct clades, one that is specific to the common treeshrew (Tupaia glis), and two comprised of multiple species. One of these includes viruses from the cave nectar bat (Eonycteris spelaea), two rodent species, and a squirrel, suggesting that virus spillover from bats to small mammals may have occurred.
