ities. Using behavioral and cognitive strategies to support patients after hospital discharge would reduce the risk of depressive complications after a stroke. This study provides convincing empirical elements for the interest of the network model for research in psychopathology and the clinical implications and perspectives allowed by network analysis.Amphibians represent a diverse group of animals with highly varied behaviors depending on their anatomy, physiology, and ecological niche. Behavioral and welfare issues in amphibians are frequent in captive settings and warrant evaluation. Welfare criteria and clinical diagnostic assays when combined with a comprehension of the natural history of a species are useful tools to improve both the well-being of the individual animal and the population. Correction of environmental factors that affect behavior and, secondarily, survival and reproduction is important in captivity and for the conservation of wild populations.

Selective thoracolumbar/lumbar fusion technique was introduced to treat adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients with major thoracolumbar/lumbar curves. Theoretically, this surgical strategy could also be applied to syringomyelia patients. No previous study has specifically addressed the effectiveness of selective thoracolumbar/lumbar fusion for patients with syringomyelia-associated scoliosis. The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of selective thoracolumbar/lumbar fusion for the surgical treatment of patients with syringomyelia-associated scoliosis.

From February 2010 to September 2016, 14 syringomyelia-associated patients with major thoracolumbar/lumbar curves were retrospectively reviewed. Besides, 30 Lenke 5C AIS patients were enrolled as a control group. Posterior selective thoracolumbar/lumbar fusion was performed for both groups. Patients' demographic, operative, radiological, and quality of life data were reviewed with follow-up. Intragroup comparisons were performed for lumbar fusion with satisfactory surgical outcomes. However, the syringomyelia group, on average, required an additional fused segment for treatment as compared to the AIS group (7.6 versus 6.5 in the AIS group).

Similar to AIS cases, syringomyelia-associated scoliosis can be effectively and safely corrected by selective thoracolumbar/lumbar fusion with satisfactory surgical outcomes. This study aimed to develop a deep convolutional neural network (CNN)-based dose distribution conversion approach for the correction of the influence of a magnetic field for online MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy.

Our model is based on DenseNet and consists of two 2D input channels and one 2D output channel. These three types of data comprise dose distributions without a magnetic field (uncorrected), electron density (ED) maps, and dose distributions with a magnetic field. These data were generated as follows both types of dose distributions were created using 15-field IMRT in the same conditions except for the presence or absence of a magnetic field with the GPU Monte Carlo dose in Monaco version 5.4; ED maps were acquired with planning CT images using a clinical CT-to-ED table at our institution. Data for 50 prostate cancer patients were used; 30 patients were allocated for training, 10 for validation, and 10 for testing using 4-fold cross-validation based on rectum gas volume. The accuracy of the model was evaluated by comparing 2D gamma-indexes against the dose distributions in each irradiation field with a magnetic field (true).

The gamma indexes in the body for CNN-corrected uncorrected dose against the true dose were 94.95%±4.69% and 63.19%±3.63%, respectively. The gamma indexes with 2%/2-mm criteria were improved by 10% in most test cases (99.36%).

Our results suggest that the CNN-based approach can be used to correct the dose-distribution influences with a magnetic field in prostate cancer treatment.

To develop and internally validate an illness burden index among Medicare beneficiaries before or after a cancer diagnosis.

Data source SEER-CAHPS, linking Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) cancer registry, Medicare enrollment and claims, and Medicare Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (Medicare CAHPS) survey data providing self-reported sociodemographic, health, and functional status information. To generate a score for everyone in the dataset, we tabulated 4 groups within each annual subsample (2007-2013) 1) Medicare Advantage (MA) beneficiaries or 2) Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) beneficiaries, surveyed before cancer diagnosis; 3) MA beneficiaries or 4) Medicare FFS beneficiaries surveyed after diagnosis. Random survival forests (RSFs) predicted 12-month all-cause mortality and drew predictor variables (mean per subsample = 44) from 8 domains sociodemographic, cancer-specific, health status, chronic conditions, healthcare utilization, activity limitations, proxy, th cancer may be useful to future SEER-CAHPS users who wish to adjust for comorbidity.

This new morbidity measure for Medicare beneficiaries with cancer may be useful to future SEER-CAHPS users who wish to adjust for comorbidity.B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a disease caused by gradual accumulation of functionally incompetent lymphocytes. The majority of CLL cases are accompanied by chemoresistance. Early B cell factor 1 (EBF1) is a crucial contributor to B-cell lymphopoiesis. This study is to explore the effect of EBF1 on CLL cell progression and its involvement in regulating the signal transducers and activators of transcription 5 (STAT5) pathway. We conducted a correlation analysis between EBF1 and the clinical characteristics of CLL patients. Subsequently, EBF1 was overexpressed by transfection with EBF1 overexpression plasmid and the STAT5 pathway was also blocked by treatment with SH-4-54 in isolated CD20+ B lymphocytes to investigate their roles in the regulation of cellular functions. STAT5, Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) expression and their phosphorylation levels were determined by quantitative PCR and Western blot analyses. The in vivo effects of EBF1 on tumor growth were evaluated using a xenotransplant model. Downregulation of EBF1 was observed in CD20+ B lymphocytes of CLL patients.
