ates the role of HMs, especially H3K27ac, in regulating transcription in AM in response to LPS and Poly(IC).Gene expression profiles of tissues treated with drugs have recently been used to infer clinical outcomes. Although this method is often successful from the application point of view, gene expression altered by drugs is rarely analyzed in detail, because of the extremely large number of genes involved. Here, we applied tensor decomposition (TD)-based unsupervised feature extraction (FE) to the gene expression profiles of 24 mouse tissues treated with 15 drugs. TD-based unsupervised FE enabled identification of the common effects of 15 drugs including an interesting universal feature these drugs affect genes in a gene-group-wide manner and were dependent on three tissue types (neuronal, muscular, and gastroenterological). For each tissue group, TD-based unsupervised FE enabled identification of a few tens to a few hundreds of genes affected by the drug treatment. These genes are distinctly expressed between drug treatments and controls as well as between tissues in individual tissue groups and other tissues. We also validated the assignment of genes to individual tissue groups using multiple enrichment analyses. We conclude that TD-based unsupervised FE is a promising method for integrated analysis of gene expression profiles from multiple tissues treated with multiple drugs in a completely unsupervised manner.Breeding for grain yield (GY) in bread wheat at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) involves three-stage testing at Obregon, Mexico in different selection environments (SEs). To understand the efficiency of selection in the SEs, we performed a large retrospective quantitative genetics study using CIMMYT's yield trials evaluated in the SEs (2013-2014 to 2017-2018), the South Asia Bread Wheat Genomic Prediction Yield Trials (SABWGPYTs) evaluated in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh (2014-2015 to 2017-2018), and the Elite Spring Wheat Yield Trials (ESWYTs) evaluated in several sites globally (2003-2004 to 2016-2017). First, we compared the narrow-sense heritabilities in the Obregon SEs and target sites and observed that the mean heritability in the SEs was 44.2 and 92.3% higher than the mean heritabilities in the SABWGPYT and ESWYT sites, respectively. Second, we observed significant genetic correlations between a SE in Obregon and all the five SABWGPYT sites and 65.1% of the ESWYT sites. the importance of multi-environment testing across time and space to stave off GxE induced uncertainties in varietal yields.Direct root-zone irrigation (DRZ) is a novel subsurface irrigation strategy initially tested in vineyards for economizing water and securing grape production in arid regions with unstable climatic patterns. However, studies are lacking on the responses of grapevine leaf carbon assimilation and deep rooting patterns to the novel irrigation strategy, which are essential for optimizing grapevine growth and alleviating extreme water stress during periods of heat and drought. Thus, a two-year field study was conducted in a commercial vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon (Vitis vinifera L.) under a semi-arid climate in Washington, USA to compare the differences in leaf gas exchange and root distribution along the 0-160 cm soil profile, combined with measurements of specific leaf area and total carbon and nitrogen content in leaves and shoots to compare DRZ and traditional surface drip irrigation (SD) under three watering regimes. selleck chemicals llc Compared to SD, significantly higher rates of net CO2 assimilation, stomatal conductance and.Plant-mediated interactions between plant viruses and their vectors are important determinants of the population dynamics of both types of organisms in the field. The whitefly Bemisia tabaci can establish mutualism with begomoviruses via their shared host plants. This mutualism is achieved by the interaction between virulence factors and their host proteins. While the virulence factor βC1 encoded by tomato yellow leaf curl China betasatellite (TYLCCNB), a subviral agent associated to the begomovirus tomato yellow leaf curl China virus (TYLCCNV), may interact with plant protein MYC2, thereby establishing the indirect mutualism between TYLCCNV and whitefly, whether other mechanisms are involved remains unknown. Here, we found the in vitro and in vivo interactions between βC1 and tobacco protein S-phase kinase associated protein 1 (NtSKP1). Silencing the expression of NtSKP1 enhanced the survival rate and fecundity of whiteflies on tobacco plants. NtSKP1 could activate the transcription of genes in jasmonic acid (JA) pathways by impairing the stabilization of JAZ1 protein. Moreover, βC1-NtSKP1 interaction could interfere JAZ1 degradation and attenuate the plant JA defense responses. These results revealed a novel mechanism underlying the better performance of whiteflies on TYLCCNV/TYLCCNB-infected plants.Salt stress is one of the major devastating factors affecting the growth and yield of almost all crops, including the crucial staple food crop sweet potato. To understand their molecular responses to salt stress, comparative transcriptome and proteome analysis of salt-tolerant cultivar Xushu 22 and salt-sensitive cultivar Xushu 32 were investigated. The results showed the two genotypes had distinct differences at the transcription level and translation level even without salt stress, while inconsistent expression between the transcriptome and proteome data was observed. A total of 16,396 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 727 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were identified. Wherein, 1,764 DEGs and 93 DEPs were specifically expressed in the tolerant genotype. Furthermore, the results revealed that the significantly upregulated genes were mainly related to the regulation of ion accumulation, stress signaling, transcriptional regulation, redox reactions, plant hormone signal transduction, and sec enhance salt tolerance of sweet potato. The brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stål, is one of the major pests of rice. It uses its stylet to penetrate rice phloem, feeding on rice sap and causing direct damage to rice or even plant death. During the feeding process, BPHs secrete saliva into plant tissues, which plays crucial roles in the plant-insect interactions. However, little is known about how the salivary proteins secreted by BPH affect feeding ability and how they induce plant immune responses. Here, we identified an N. lugens Salivary Protein 1 (NlSP1) by screening salivary proteome and characterized its functions in BPH and plants. NlSP1 induces cell death, H2O2 accumulation, the expression of defense-related genes, and callose deposition in planta. The active region of NlSP1 that induces plant cell death is located in its N-terminal region. Inhibition of NlSP1 expression in BPHs reduced their feeding ability and had a lethal effect on them. Most importantly, we demonstrated that NlSP1 was able to be secreted into rice plant during feeding process and form a complex with certain interacting partner of rice.
