The proposed sensor demonstrates good stability within 28 days, acceptable reproducibility (RSD = 0.52%) and selectivity to the speckle-type POZ domain protein in the presence of possible interfering substances and has potential application for detecting other intracellular macromolecular substances. The effect of low oxygen-partial pressured carburizing on relaxation process for 316L stainless steel is reported. Phase, morphology, and amount of compound formation during initial stage of carburizing are investigated using X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results show formation and development of surface multilayer with nano-grain-carbide (Cr7C3, Fe7C3, and/or Cr3C2) generation in the layer located below outermost protective layer. The relaxation process has been investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Formation of nano-grain carbide(s) during carburizing causes deterioration effect on the electrochemical behavior of steel. However, the steel with large amount of carbide generation (carburized for 30 min) tends to have higher corrosion resistance (indicated by higher values of Rcl and Rct) than the smaller ones (10 and 20 min) due to the effect of phase, grain size, morphology, and amount of compound formation. This work incorporates machine learning (ML) techniques, such as multivariate regression, the multi-layer perceptron, and random forest to predict the slip length at the nanoscale. this website Data points are collected both from our simulation data and data from the literature, and comprise Molecular Dynamics simulations of simple monoatomic, polar, and molecular liquids. Training and test points cover a wide range of input parameters which have been found to affect the slip length value, concerning dynamical and geometrical characteristics of the model, along with simulation parameters that constitute the simulation conditions. The aim of this work is to suggest an accurate and efficient procedure capable of reproducing physical properties, such as the slip length, acting parallel to simulation methods. Non-linear models, based on neural networks and decision trees, have been found to achieve better performance compared to linear regression methods. After the model is trained on representative simulation data, it is capable of accurately predicting the slip length values in regions between or in close proximity to the input data range, at the nanoscale. Results also reveal that, as channel dimensions increase, the slip length turns into a size-independent material property, affected mainly by wall roughness and wettability.Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) with adequate quality protein is used to treat children with oedematous and non-oedematous severe acute malnutrition (SAM). The plasma amino acid (AA) profile reflects the protein nutritional status; hence, its assessment during SAM treatment is useful in evaluating AA delivery from RUTFs. The objective was to evaluate the plasma AAs during the treatment of oedematous and non-oedematous SAM in community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) using amino acid-enriched plant-based RUTFs with 10% milk (MSMS-RUTF) or without milk (FSMS-RUTF) compared to peanut milk RUTF (PM-RUTF). Plasma AA was measured in a non-blinded, 3-arm, parallel-group, simple randomized controlled trial conducted in Malawi. The RUTFs used for SAM were FSMS-RUTF, MSMS-RUTF or PM-RUTF. A non-inferiority hypothesis was tested to compare plasma AA levels from patients treated with FSMS-RUTF or MSMS-RUTF with those from patients treated with PM-RUTF at discharge. For both types of SAM, FSMS-RUTF and MSMS-RUTF treatments were non-inferior to the PM-RUTF treatment in restoration of the EAA and cystine except that for FSMS-RUTF, methionine and tryptophan partially satisfied the non-inferiority criteria in the oedematous group. Amino-acid-enriched milk-free plant-source-protein RUTF has the potential to restore all the EAA, but it is possible that enrichment with amino acids may require more methionine and tryptophan for oedematous children. An association between cognitive impairment and tripping over obstacles during locomotion in older adults has been suggested. However, owing to its memory-guided movement, whether this is more pronounced in the trailing limb is poorly known. We examined age-related changes in stepping over, focusing on trailing limb movements, and their association with cognitive performance. Age-related changes in obstacle avoidance were examined by comparing the foot kinematics of 105 older and 103 younger adults when stepping over an obstacle. The difference in the clearance between the leading and trailing limbs (Δ clearance) was calculated to determine the degree of decrement in the clearance of the trailing limb. A cognitive test battery was used to evaluate cognitive function among older adults to assess their association with Δ clearance. Older adults showed a significantly lower clearance of the trailing limb than young adults, resulting in greater Δ clearance. Significant correlations were observed between greater Δ clearance and scores on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment and immediate recall of the Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised Logical Memory test. Therefore, memory functions may contribute to the control of trailing limb movements, which can secure a safety margin to avoid stumbling over an obstacle during obstacle avoidance locomotion.Unbalanced utilization of nitrogen (N) rice not economically viable neither is this practice environmental friendly. Co-application of biochar and urea could reduce the unbalanced use of this N fertilizer in rice cultivation. Thus, a field study was carried out to (i) determine the effects of chicken litter biochar and urea fertilization on N concentration in soil solution of a cultivated rice (MR219) using dielectric measurement at a low frequency and (ii) correlate soil dielectric conductivity with rice grain yield at maturity. Dielectric response of the soil samples at 20, 40, 55, and 75 days after transplanting were determined using an inductance-capacitance-resistance meter HIOKI 3522-50 LCR HiTESTER. Selected soil chemical properties and yield were determined using standard procedures. The dielectric conductivity and permittivity of the soil samples measured before transplanting the rice seedlings were higher than those for the soil samples after transplanting. This was due to the inherent nitrogen of the chicken litter biochar and the low nitrogen uptake at the transplanting stage.
