We used a quantitative research method to obtain cross-sectional data from 400 Turkish young people using online surveys. Correlation, regression, mediation, and moderation analyses were performed using SPSS and the PROCESS macro plugin for data analysis. Internet addiction was significantly associated with self-esteem, gender, age, and daily internet usage. In addition, we discovered that self-esteem and daily usage time played a mediation role in the effect of the age variable on internet addiction. Moreover, the moderation roles of social networks, gender, and location in the impact of self-esteem on internet addiction were determined. With this study, we understood that as age increases, self-esteem triggers the decrease of internet addiction. In this sense, policies should be developed to increase self-esteem among young people to ensure the conscious use of the internet.The objective of this study was to evaluate the factors influencing the willingness to pay for a single tooth implant in Malaysia and to assess if an additional evidence-based patient education video increases the willingness to pay. A total of 100 subjects seeking single tooth replacement at the Oral Health Centre, International Medical University (IMU), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were asked to complete questionnaires about personal demographics and personality traits. Subsequently, they were randomly allocated into two groups. Group C received a conventional patient-dentist interaction on treatment options for missing teeth, while Group EV received the same content with an additional evidence-based video on the survival rate and complications for each option from recent meta-analyses. Willingness to pay the median price and the highest price that the subjects were willing to pay were assessed by a structured bidding process. A higher annual income was significantly associated with willingness to pay the median price for a single tooth implant (χ2 = 6.91, p = 0.03). Dominant personality traits of openness (r = -0.25), conscientiousness (r = -0.30) and agreeableness (r = -0.20) were negatively correlated with the highest price that the patients were willing to pay for a single tooth implant (Pearson's correlation test, p 0.05). In conclusion, patient education strategies for single tooth replacements with dental implants should be customized based on a patient's personality and income to maximize effectiveness.

The implantation of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) leads to the specialization of nurses in this surgical field. However, there is no standard curriculum of MIS Nursing in Europe. Spanish and Portuguese nurses are inexperienced and have poor training in MIS. For that, a blended learning course for nursing education in MIS (Lapnurse) has been developed. This work aims to detail the course design and to preliminary validate by experts its online theoretical module.

Lapnurse consists of an online module with nine theoretical lessons and a face-to-face module with three practical lessons. The e-learning environment created to provide the online module, with didactic contents based on surgical videos and innovative 3D designs, has been validated by two technicians (functionality) and four nurses with teaching experience in MIS (usability and content).

The E-learning platform meets all technical requirements, provides whole and updated multimedia contents correctly applied for educational purposes, incorporates interactivity with 3D designs, and has an attractive, easy-to-use and intuitive design.

The educational process in different medical schools has been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide. As a part of the Saudi government's attempts to contain the spread of the virus, schools' and universities' educational activities and face-to-face lectures have been modified to virtual classrooms. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of the faculty and the students of an electronic objective structured clinical examination (E-OSCE) activity that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic in the oldest medical school in Saudi Arabia.

An e-OSCE style examination was designed for the final-year medical students by the pediatrics department, College of Medicine at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There are several diseases belonging to the dementia spectrum, most prominently Alzheimer's disease (AD), vascular dementia (VD), Lewy body dementia (LBD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a safe, non-invasive form of brain stimulation that utilizes a magnetic coil to generate an electrical field and induce numerous changes in the brain. It is considered efficacious for the treatment of various neuropsychiatric disorders. In this paper, we review the available studies involving rTMS in the treatment of these dementia types. The majority of studies have involved AD and shown beneficial effects, either as a standalone, or as an add-on to standard-of-care pharmacological treatment and cognitive training. The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex seems to hold a central position in the applied protocols, but several parameters still need to be defined. In addition, rTMS has shown potential in mild cognitive impairment as well. Regarding the remaining dementias, research is still at preliminary phases, and large, randomized studies are currently lacking.A relationship exists between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and human bone health; however, whether the combination of demographic, lifestyle, and socioeconomic factors that are associated with MetS development also simultaneously affects bone density remains unclear. Using a machine learning approach, the current study aimed to estimate the usefulness of predicting bone mass loss using these potentially related factors. The present study included a sample of 23,497 adults who routinely visited a health screening center at a large health center at least once during each of three 3-year stages (i.e., 2006-2008, 2009-2011, and 2012-2014). The demographic, socioeconomic, lifestyle characteristics, body mass index (BMI), and MetS scoring index recorded during the first 3-year stage were used to predict the subsequent occurrence of osteopenia using a non-concurrence design. A concurrent prediction was also performed using the features recorded from the same 3-year stage as the predicted outcome. Machine learning algorithms, including logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), were applied to build predictive models using a unique feature set. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and F1 score were used to evaluate the predictive performances of the models. The XGBoost model presented the best predictive performance among the non-concurrence models. This study suggests that the ensemble learning model with a MetS severity score can be used to predict the progression of osteopenia. The inclusion of an individual's features into a predictive model over time is suggested for future studies.Mixed reality (MR) has recently been suggested as a new educational tool for nursing simulation. Each study was analyzed, and data were abstracted into publication characteristics, simulation program details, device use, and simulation evaluation. A total of 10 studies were reviewed. Senses that were mainly used in MR nursing simulation included audition and haptics via motion, in addition to visual information. Simulations were evaluated using various outcome variables. Knowledge was most commonly evaluated, followed by clinical performance and satisfaction. This study is significant as it analyzed trends in research on MR nursing simulations in Korea and other countries and suggested directions for the use of MR technology in nursing simulations based on the findings.
