The facts were explained by the surface chemical thermodynamics model which showed that the surface area (σ) and the crystal size decreased as the temperature increased.Conjugated molecules with coplanar strong donor and acceptor (D-A) units have been widely used in the design of near-infrared (NIR) photothermal agents to increase an absorption band through intramolecular charge transfer and to control intramolecular motions in aggregated states. However, such conjugated D-A systems have strong dipolar moments and intermolecular interactions, which may inhibit other channels of photothermal conversion and are often susceptible to nucleophiles, especially in the presence of light irradiation. Now, we report a molecular guideline to develop novel NIR organic photothermal nanoagents based on conjugated boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) oligomers. This oligomerization is helpful not only for their tunable NIR absorptions in the ground state with distinctly redshifted absorption maxima up to 1002 nm and high extinction coefficients but also for their highly efficient photothermal conversion because of the possible motion of the BODIPY motifs around the ethene linked group in the excited state. These oligomers were fabricated as ultra-photostable nanoagents for multiple imaging-guided phototherapies, which efficiently accumulated in tumors, and gave complete tumor ablation with NIR laser irradiation. This strategy of "ground-state conjugation, excited-state rotation" provides a novel guideline to develop advanced theranostic molecules with NIR absorption.

The aim of this study was to examine the performance characteristics and validity of an existing lumbar instability questionnaire as a screening tool for lumbar instability among chronic low back pain (CLBP) patients.
Lumbar instability is an initial stage of more severe spinal pathology. Early screening for this condition should help prevent more structural damage. To meet this need, the present study developed numerical cutoff scores for the lumbar instability screening tool.
Lumbar instability screening tool responses and x-ray assessments were reviewed from a sample of 110 patients with CLBP (aged 20-59 years). Receiver operator curves were constructed to optimize sensitivity and specificity of the tool.
Fourteen (12.73%) patients had radiological lumbar instability. These patients reported a higher mean lumbar instability questionnaire score than those without radiological lumbar instability. A questionnaire score of at least 7 had a sensitivity of 100% (95% CI, 100-100) and a specificity of 26.04% (95% CI = 17.84-34.24) for detecting lumbar instability when compared with x-ray examination. Receiver operator curve analysis revealed the lumbar instability screening had an area under the curve of 0.62 (95% CI, 0.47-0.77).
A lumbar instability screening tool total score of at least 7 was ruled out lumbar instability in CLBP patients. This cutoff score may be used as a marker of conservative treatment response. The sample size of patients with lumbar instability in this study was small, which may hinder the reliability of the data. Further studies are needed.

We examined the chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) patients and non-CIDP patients who have similar symptoms and difficult to differential diagnosis with CIDP by magnetic resonance neurography to find the difference among them.
To investigate the differential diagnostic value of magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) for CIDP and other peripheral neuropathies.
Thirty-two consecutive patients with CIDP and 22 non-CIDP patients with symptoms similar to CIDP and difficult to be discriminate were recruited and imaged as a control group between May 2017 and May 2019.
In this prospective study, the brachial plexus and lumbosacral plexus of 32 CIDP patients and 22 non-CIDP patients were examined by MRN. The clinical features and the nerve roots cross-sectional area (CSA) of the brachial plexus and lumbosacral plexus were measured.
The CSA of nerve roots of CIDP, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type-1 and polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, M protein, and skin changes syndrostic accuracy for CIDP, and it is not necessary to perform both parts of the examination.

2.Improving the ability to predict persistent pain after spine surgery would allow identification of patients at risk and guide treatment decisions. Quantitative sensory tests (QST) are measures of altered pain processes, but in our previous study, preoperative QST did not predict pain and disability at single time-points. Trajectory analysis accounts for time-dependent patterns. We hypothesized that QST predict trajectories of pain and disability during 1 year after low back surgery. We performed a trajectory analysis on the cohort of our previous study (n = 141). Baseline QST included electrical, pressure, heat, and cold stimulation of the low back and lower extremity, temporal summation, and conditioned pain modulation. 6OHDA Pain intensity and Oswestry Disability Index were measured before, and 2, 6, and 12 months after surgery. Bivariate trajectories for pain and disability were computed using group-based trajectory models. Multivariable regressions were used to identify QST as predictors of trajectory groups, with sociodemographic, psychological, and clinical characteristics as covariates. Cold pain hypersensitivity at the leg, not being married, and long pain duration independently predicted worse recovery (complete-to-incomplete, incomplete-to-no recovery). Cold pain hypersensitivity increased the odds for worse recovery by 3.8 (95% confidence intervals 1.8-8.0, P less then 0.001) and 3.0 (1.3-7.0, P = 0.012) in the univariable and multivariable analyses, respectively. Trajectory analysis, but not analysis at single time-points, identified cold pain hypersensitivity as strong predictor of worse recovery, supporting altered pain processes as predisposing factor for persisting pain and disability, and a broader use of trajectory analysis. Assessment of cold pain sensitivity may be a clinically applicable, prognostic test.
