The software, coupled with intra-oral scanning innovation, should supersede the arduous and error prone plaster model and calipers approach to Dental research, and provide a stepping-stone towards automation of routine clinical assessments such as "index of orthodontic treatment need" (IOTN).Content-Based Dermatological Lesion Retrieval (CBDLR) systems retrieve similar skin lesion images, with a pathology-confirmed diagnosis, for a given query image of a skin lesion. By producing an intuitive support to both inexperienced and experienced dermatologists, the early diagnosis through CBDLR screening can significantly enhance the patients' survival, while reducing the treatment cost. To deal with this issue, a CBDLR system is proposed in this study. This system integrates a similarity measure recommender which allows a dynamic selection of the adequate distance metric for each query image. The main contributions of this work reside in (i) the adoption of deep-learned features according to their performances for the classification of skin lesions into seven classes; and (ii) the automatic generation of ground truth that was investigated within the framework of transfer learning in order to recommend the most appropriate distance for any new query image. The proposed CBDLR system has been exhaustively evaluated using the challenging ISIC2018 and ISIC2019 datasets, and the obtained results show that the proposed system can provide a useful aided-decision while offering superior performances. Indeed, it outperforms similar CBDLR systems that adopt standard distances by at least 9% in terms of mAP@K.

This study investigated the major functional issues experienced by male patients with rectal cancer, including fecal function, sexual function, and social support and how they relate to post-traumatic growth. Factors that can be associated with post-traumatic growth were also identified.

A questionnaire was administered to 143 male patients with rectal cancer receiving either treatment at a national cancer center or post-therapeutic follow-up in outpatient clinics, from February 18 to May 22, 2020. In addition to questions relating to patients' characteristics, the questionnaire included measures of fecal function, sexual function, social support, and post-traumatic growth.

Post-traumatic growth showed a weak to moderate positive correlation with both sexual function and social support. Moreover, an analysis of the factors associated with post-traumatic growth showed that religion, marital status, and social support were statistically significant; these factors explained 22% of the variance in post-traumatic growth.

Post-traumatic growth in male patients with rectal cancer can be associated with psychosocial factors, such as religion and social support, rather than physical functions, such as fecal function and sexual function. Interventions to enhance social support for men who are single or non-religious could promote post-traumatic growth in male patients with rectal cancer.

In the present study, we investigated the parenting stress experienced by parents of children with cancer and the influencing factors.

This was a cross-sectional and descriptive correlational study that consisted of parents of 136 children in the age group of 0-18 years who were followed up for cancer in the outpatient clinics and services of a university hospital in Turkey. Parenting Stress Index, Burden Interview, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Marital Life Satisfaction Scale, and Ways of Coping Questionnaire were used to collect the data.

No statistically significant difference was found between the parenting stress mean scores and gender of the parents of children with cancer (t=-0.350; P=0.727). The results of the present study showed that the economic status (t=-4.16; P=0.000), parents' physical (t=3.606; P=0.000) and mental health status after the child is diagnosed (t=5.647; P=0.000), accompanying mental health problems of the child (t=2.567; P=0.011), and diagnosis of children at a young age (t=-2.776; P=0.006) increased the parenting stress of the parents.

Nursing interventions can reduce parental stress by providing sufficient care and support during the disease process.

It is essential to develop a highly sensitive and selective BPA sensor for environmental and food safety. Herein, 2D hybrid graphene/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposite (Gr/MXene) was prepared via a top-down method and then used to fabricate an electrochemical BPA sensor. The X-ray diffraction spectrometer (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy analysis were carried out to verify the successful formation of Gr sheets with MXene. The high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM) was revealed the formation of MXene, and Gr/MXene nanocomposite. Furthermore, the 2D hybrid Gr/MXene nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was prepared for BPA oxidation in 100 mM phosphate buffer solution (PBS). Under the optimized condition, the Gr/MXene/GCE was displayed a linear range of detection from 10 to 180 nM and 1 to 10 μM BPA with the detection limits of 4.08 nM and 0.35 μM by amperometry and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), respectively. Moreover, the proposed Gr/MXene modified electrode exhibited excellent stability, selectivity, repeatability and reproducibility towards the BPA detection. As a proof of concept, Gr/MXene modified sensor was effectively used to detect BPA in modern plastic products with the recovery ranging from 99.2 to 104.5%.Nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) has been extensively used to remove various pollutants. However, the rapid deactivation due to aggregation and surface passivation severely limits its practical application. In this study, a novel composite with nZVI supported by pinecone biochar (nZVI-PBC) was successfully synthesized and used for the removal of high concentration Cr(VI) from aqueous solution in the presence of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 (MR-1). The results showed that the nZVI-PBC coupling with MR-1 (nZVI-PBC/MR-1) exhibited an excellent removal performance for high concentration Cr(VI) compared to the nZVI-PBC alone. Under optimal conditions, 100 mg/L Cr(VI) could be removed completely by nZVI-PBC/MR-1 within 48 h, while only 39.50% of Cr(VI) was removed by nZVI-PBC alone. The improvement of Cr(VI) removal is due to the dissolution of the surface passivation layer of nZVI-PBC, formation of sorbed Fe(II) in the presence of MR-1, and an important role of extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) derived from MR-1. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Cr K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectra (XANES) confirmed that most Cr(VI) was reduced to insoluble Cr(III) and formed Cr2O3, CrxFe1-x(OH)3 and FeCr2O4 precipitates, and a small amount of unreduced Cr(VI) was immobilized through adsorption and complexation. The results suggest that nZVI-PBC/MR-1 can effectively overcome the limitations of nZVI and achieve highly efficient removal of high concentration Cr(VI).The mining district of Salsigne in the Orbiel valley (Aude, France) was at one time the first gold mine in Europe and the first arsenic mine in the world. However, no scientific studies have evaluated the magnitude of its environmental impact. In this study, the pedo-geochemical background (PGB) was determined for 14 metal (loid) elements, including As. It appears that the PGB values for As and Sb are relatively high with 44±12 and 0.9±1.2 mg kg-1, respectively, because of the geological particularities of this area. In a second step, these PGB values (normalized with Ti concentrations) were used as local references to determine enrichment factors (EFs) of bed river sediments for the Orbiel River and two of its major tributaries (Gresillou and Russec rivers) collected between November 2018 and July 2020. buy SGI-1776 Results showed that riverine sediments are contaminated by past mining activity and/or current storage areas. If we except the major elements (Fe, Ti and at a lesser extent Mn), we observed that As, Cu, Sb, Pb present the highest concentrations relative to the remaining elements (Cd, Co, V, Ni and Cr). In the case of As, EFs can reach 74 in the Orbiel River, 1000 in the Gresillou River and 27 in the Russec River. These calculations were also performed for sediments transported by the extreme flood of October 14, 2018, that killed 15 people and potentially remobilized contamination in the valley. We observed that the As concentrations of suspended samples from Grésillou and Russec rivers have reached 870 mg kg-1. Finally, the As concentrations measured in the river sediments of this valley are of the same order of magnitude than those published in the literature for environments strongly impacted by mining or mineral processing activities. In this study a very common grass named Cyperus rotundas was used to extract cellulose which was converted to magnetic grass nano cellulose (MGNC) to adsorb rare earth element Cerium (Ce (III)). The prepared MGNC was analyzed with sophisticated technique to determine the alteration in physical and chemical properties before and after adsorption with the pollutant Cerium. Parameters like pH, temperature, MGNC dosage and initial concentration of Ce were optimized to check parameters influencing the adsorption of Ce (III). The optimized experimental data were perfectly modelled into Langmuir model with adsorption capacity of 353.04 mg g -1 for Ce (III). For kinetics the data fitted into pseudo second order model. To check the efficacy of MGNC in real scenario, untreated and treated Ce was used for phototoxicity studies with 4 different plant seeds. Apart from this, model fish, Danio rerio was used to check the toxicity level on aquatic organism before and after adsorption of Ce (III) with MGNC. This study showed the efficient use of MGNC and maximum removal of Cerium from wastewater and the magnetic behavior incorporated adds advantage of easy retrieval.Freshwater resilience is facing to an increasing challenge, while carbon neutral wastewater reclamation has been put onto agenda in more and more countries. The activated sludge-microfiltration (MF)-reverse osmosis (RO) process has been currently adopted for reclamation of municipal wastewater to high-grade product water (e.g. NEWater). However, the conventional activated sludge (CAS) unit in this process has the drawbacks of excessive sludge generation, high energy consumption, greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions etc. To address these emerging issues, an integrated anaerobic fixed-film membrane bioreactor (AnfMBR)-RO-chlorination process was developed in this study. Results showed that about 99.9% of COD, 99.3% of phosphate and 95.3% of NH4+-N were removed in the AnfMBR-RO process, while breakpoint chlorination served as a polishing step when the NH4+-N concentration in RO permeate exceeded the typical NH4+-N concentration (e.g. 1 mg/L) of NEWater. The net energy consumption and total GHG emissions in the proposed integrated process were estimated to be 0.
