To estimate the effectiveness of combining facial expression recognition and machine learning for better detection of distress.

232 patients with cancer in Sichuan University West China Hospital in Chengdu, China.

The Distress Thermometer (DT) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were used as instruments. The HADS included scores for anxiety (HADS-A), depression (HADS-D), and total score (HADS-T). Distressed patients were defined by the DT cutoff score of 4, the HADS-A cutoff score of 8 or 9, the HADS-D cutoff score of 8 or 9, or the HADS-T cutoff score of 14 or 15. The authors applied histogram of oriented gradients to extract facial expression features from face images, and used a support vector machine as the classifier.

The facial expression features showed feasible differentiation ability on cases classified by DT and HADS.

Facial expression recognition could serve as a supplementary screening tool for improving the accuracy of distress assessment and guide strategies for treatment and nursing.

Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital abnormality of the gastrointestinal tract. The incidence is approximately 2% of the population. Most patients are asymptomatic, only 4-16% presenting complications, including bleeding, obstruction, and diverticulitis. The perforation due to a foreign body is a very infrequent complication and may have a bad prognosis in case of a delayed diagnosis. Only in a few cases, a careful evaluation of the CT scan leads to correct preoperative diagnosis. Definitive treatment is surgical intervention and should not be delayed in patients with peritonitis. Laparoscopy is a safe diagnostic and therapeutic tool to treat complicated Meckel's diverticulum. In our case, a stapled laparoscopic diverticulectomy has been performed with an excellent outcome. Lymphocele (or cystic lymphangioma) is a typical disease of the lymphatic vascukarization caused by lymphatic fluid leakage. Lymphatic leakage can result from traumas or as a complication of surgical procedures. Clinic is vague and surgical resection is still considered the most effective approach. Thereby, a standpoint should be the identification and treatment of afferent lymphatic channels which can be addressed by LVA.

The authors describe a rare case of a giant lymphocele occurred in a 56-year-old Caucasian woman treated for endometrial carcinoma. Lymphocele was refractory to percutaneous drainage and compressive treatment. Therefore surgical excision in combination with supramicrosurgical lymphatico-venular anastomosis (LVA) was scheduled.

The aim of the report is to offer an overview on the main therapeutic options to treat lymphocele and to demonstrate the effectiveness of combining excision with lymphatic microsurgery.

The most common microorganisms isolated from septic arthritis are staphylococcus aureus and streptoccocci. Septic arthritis due to Salmonella spp. is extremely rare.

A 55-year-old man, chronic renal failure, is admitted hip arthtritis with newly arised symptoms. The findings were not compatible with primary arthritis. The laboratory findings which include white blood cell count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (esr) and c-reactive protein (crp) were elevated. In magnetic resonance (mr) imaging there were psoas abscess and septic arthritis of the hip. They were treated by drainage. The culture was confirmed as Salmonella spp. Antibiotic treatment were done.

Uremia in patients with chronic renal failure is associated with a state of immune dysfunction. In our case, uremia may cause immunosuppressive conditions and hematogenous dissemination of salmonella.

Salmonella infection in a patient with chronic renal failure may be occured. MALT1 inhibitor in vivo It must be kept in mind that early diagnosis, administration of appropriate systemic antibiotics and surgical intervention play a pivotal role in successful management.

For (dis)comfort research it is important to capture factors such as context, task/activity, posture, movement, (distracting) stimuli and time, as these factors have influence on the experienced (dis)comfort. Recording the behaviour allows for better evaluation of and comparison between studies, contributing to an increase of scientific knowledge on (dis)comfort.

Many occupations require workers to stand for prolonged periods, which can cause discomfort, pain and even injures. Some supermarkets in life provide a foot pad for checkout staff to let them stand on it at work, thereby reducing standing fatigue caused by standing for a long time. The inclined platform is the same as the foot pad mentioned above. That is, the staff stepped on it and relieved standing fatigue to a certain extent.

The study aims to analyze how the standing angle affects fatigue among prolonged standing workers and tries to find an inclined platform with a specific angle to reduce standing fatigue.

This experiment studied fatigue of the inclined platforms with different angles on prolonged standing workers, eight participants were selected to participate in the test. The plantar pressures and sEMG (Surface Electromyography) were used to collect the physiological information change of prolonged standing participants in the lower limb and waist. The visual analogue scale was used as a subje0°, 5° and 10°, the iEMG (Integrated Electromyography) values of the gastrointestinal muscle were not significantly different until the third sampling point (40 minutes). After that self-regulation of lower limb muscles is better when standing on an inclined platform between 5° and 10°, it has a certain effect on alleviating lower limb fatigue. This knowledge is crucial for the design of the inclined working platforms fitting the needs of prolonged standing workers.
