While most of the research has focused on the biomechanical and clinical outcomes affected by gait modification, the process of learning these new gait patterns has received little attention. Without adequate learning, it is unlikely that the modification will be performed in daily life, limiting the likelihood of long-term benefit. There is a vast body of literature examining motor learning, though little has involved gait modifications, especially in populations with musculoskeletal conditions. The studies that have examined gait modifications in these populations are often limited due to incomplete reporting and study design decisions that prohibit strong conclusions about motor learning. This perspective draws on evidence from the broader motor learning literature for application in the context of modifying gait. Where possible, specific gait modification examples are included to highlight the current literature and what can be improved on going forward. A brief theoretical overview of motor learning is outlined, followed by strategies that are known to improve motor learning, and finally, how assessments of learning need to be conducted to make meaningful conclusions.The citrus industry has grown exponentially as a result of increasing demand on its consumption, giving it high standing among other fruit crops. Therefore, the citrus sector seeks rapid, easy, and non-destructive approaches to evaluate in real time and in situ the external and internal changes in physical and nutritional quality at any stage of fruit development or storage. In particular, vitamin C is among the most important micronutrients for consumers, but its measurement relies on laborious analytical methodologies. In this study, a portable near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) sensor was used in combination with chemometrics to develop robust and accurate models to study the ripeness of several citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, clementines, tangerines, and Tahiti limes) and their vitamin C content. Ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid, and total vitamin C were determined by HILIC-HPLC-UV, while soluble solids and total acidity were evaluated by standard analytical procedures. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was used to build regression models which revealed suitable performance regarding the prediction of quality and ripeness parameters in all tested fruits. Models for ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid, total vitamin C, soluble solids, total acidity, and juiciness showed Rcv2 = 0.77-0.87, Rcv2 = 0.29-0.79, Rcv2 = 0.77-0.86, Rcv2 = 0.75-0.97, Rcv2 = 0.24-0.92, and Rcv2 = 0.38-0.75, respectively. Prediction models of oranges and Tahiti limes showed good to excellent performance regarding all tested conditions. The resulting models confirmed that NIRS technology is a time- and cost-effective approach for predicting citrus fruit quality, which can easily be used by the various stakeholders from the citrus industry.

A 17-year-old female Caucasian soccer player presented with severe right shoulder pain and scapular winging due to brachial plexus neuritis. Over the course of 6 weeks, the patient received Positional Release Therapy once a week coupled with electrical modalities, massage and a daily home exercise program. The form of brachial plexus neuritis the patient was diagnosed with was Parsonage-Turner Syndrome, a rare condition often resistant to traditional physical therapy, typically persists for six months to years, at times requiring surgical intervention. This case report is unique because it is the first to utilize Positional Release Therapy for its treatment and one which resolved more quickly than typically reported.

Limited health literacy (LHL) is associated with multiple adverse health outcomes in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Interventions are needed to improve this situation, but evidence on intervention targets and strategies is lacking. This systematic review aims to identify potential targets and strategies by summarizing the evidence on (i) patient- and system-level factors potentially mediating the relation between LHL and health outcomes; and (ii) the effectiveness of health literacy interventions customized to CKD patients.

We performed a systematic review of peer-reviewed research articles in Medline, Embase and Web of Science, 2009-19. We assessed the quality of the studies and conducted a best-evidence synthesis.

Paradoxically, few people with CORD actually engage in PR, and of those, up to one-third do not complete the program. Additionally, some of those who complete the program do not achieve worthwhile benefits. Therefore, the main challenge for the next decades is to offer PR to as many people (that would potentially benefit from it) as possible. This raises questions about factors influencing participation, completion, and responsiveness to PR programs. Among these factors, urinary incontinence (UI) is highly prevalent among people with CORD (much more than in the general population) and may worsen during PR exercise sessions. Paradoxically, UI is poorly explored in routine and scarcely assessed in research, and none of the actual guidelines about PR mention it. However, its potential influence on engagement, completion, and response to PR is of real concern. Therefore, the aim of this perspective is to describe the mechanisms of UI, particularly in the context of CORD, as well as to highlight its prevalence among people with CORD, their burden, and how it could affect a PR approach based on sustained and regular physical activity.

Tuberculosis is a worldwide health concern and isoniazid is the most used and considered one of the most effective drugs for its treatment. The "quality" concept must be incorporated into the final pharmaceutical product, according to the quality by design (QbD) definition. Therefore, the determination of analytical test conditions is extremely important and the design of experiments (DoE) becomes a very useful tool.

This paper used the concept of QbD to assist the development of analytical conditions for isoniazid and its respective prodrug, applying HPLC.

HPLC analytical methodologies were developed for isoniazid and its succinylated derivative. The experimental design was carried out using three analytical parameters at three levels. Four chromatographic responses were studied. The impact of analytical parameters on chromatographic responses was assessed using a Pareto chart. Regression models were obtained using multiple regression analysis. DoE analysis was conducted using the Minitab® program and the experiments were performed sequentially, with varying factors.

We identify three main risk parameters mobile phase (high), flow rate (moderate), and pH of buffer (moderate). The ratio of mobile phase buffer (X2) and mobile phase pH (X3) had a major influence on the peak resolutions (Y3). Individual factors can impact numerous work-life interface outcomes including work-family conflict and burnout. Recently, the concept of work-addiction has been investigated as an individual factor that could impact numerous outcomes. While there is a large body of literature investigating work-family conflict and burnout in athletic training, little is known about the incidence of work-addiction or its potential impact on these outcomes.

To gather descriptive data on work-addiction risk and examine the impact work-addiction may have on work-life interface outcomes in athletic training.

Athletic trainers employed in all work settings were recruited to participate via social media and email distribution lists. Data from 226 (n = 65, 28.8% males, n = 161, 71.2% females) athletic trainers, currently employed in more than 13 work settings were included in data analysis.

The online questionnaire consisted of four main sections demographic questions, work-strategies should be implemented by individuals and organizations.

Those athletic trainers at higher risk for work-addiction report higher levels of burnout. Because of the medium risk for work-addiction among athletic trainers, work-addiction mitigation strategies should be implemented by individuals and organizations.

The objective was to explore family caregivers' perspectives of the recovery process of older adults with hip fracture and describe experiences from caregivers who (1) used the online intervention, or (2) received home-based care provided by the Andalusian Public Health Care System.

This was an exploratory secondary study with informal family caregivers who had an older adult family member with hip fracture enrolled in a novel telerehabilitation (telerehab) clinical trial. Forty-four caregivers of older adults with hip fracture were interviewed at 6 to 9months after their family member's hip fracture.

Caregivers shared concerns of family members' survival and recovery; they recounted increased stress and anxiety due to the uncertainty of new tasks associated with providing care and the impact on their lifestyle. Although most caregivers were satisfied with the health care received, they made suggestions for better organization of hospital discharge and requests for home support. The main reasons why caregivers and their family member chose the telerehab program were to enhance recovery after fracture, gain knowledge for managing at home, and because of the convenience of completing the exercises at home. There were more family caregivers in the control group who expressed a high level of stress and anxiety, and they also requested more social and health services compared with caregivers whose family member received telerehab.

Family caregivers are an essential component of recovery after hip fracture by providing emotional and physical support. However, future clinical interventions should evaluate person-centered interventions to mitigate possible stress and anxiety experienced by family caregivers.
