Public health nurses managed their evolving visible and invisible work supported by their knowledge, practice values and public health nurse colleagues. Implications for nursing management Nursing management must lead and communicate the vision supporting better health, better population-focused care and health outcomes to public health nurse and stakeholders, while reviewing resources needed to optimize public health nursing and improve population health.Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary liver cancer, and thymidine phosphorylase (TP) is a regulator of angiogenesis. To investigate the biological activities of TP in ICC, we established human cholangiocarcinoma RBE cell lines overexpressing TP or silencing TP. Apoptosis activator Overexpression of TP enhanced viability, suppressed apoptosis and increased tube formation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells, while downregulation of TP reversed these effects. Moreover, an orthotopic xenograft mouse model of ICC was built to further explore TP's function in ICC in vivo. Histological analysis using H&E, TUNEL and Ki67 staining showed that TP promoted tumour growth and inhibited cell apoptosis. Immunostaining for CD31 revealed an elevation in microvessel density in the presence of TP. Besides, upregulation of TP increased the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, interleukin-8 and tumour necrosis factor alpha. In contrast, TP knockdown inhibited tumour growth, suppressed microvessel formation and decreased the expression of angiogenesis-related proteins. Therefore, we suggest that TP promotes angiogenesis and tumour growth in ICC, which can be a potent therapeutic target for ICC treatment. Objectives To summarize the procedure for reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in a Mexican hospital, with the purpose of promoting and facilitating the report of ADRs by the heath team. We outline the relevance of pharmacists in performing these activities in Mexican hospitals. Methods A pharmacovigilance study was carried out following the establishment of the Pharmacovigilance Unit of a Mexican hospital on January 2014 through March 2019. Key findings There is an undernotification rate of ADRs, since only 137 ADRs were notified in a five-year period, mostly by biopharmaceutical chemists holding bachelor's degrees that were acting as pharmacists. Conclusions To improve the safety of medications, it is necessary to improve ADR notifications in Mexico's health system. One important step in this direction is to establish a Pharmacy degree with training for promoting and performing ADR notifications.Trauma during critical periods of development can induce long-lasting adverse effects. To study neural aberrations resulting from early life stress (ELS), many studies utilize rodent maternal separation, whereby pups are intermittently deprived of maternal care necessary for proper development. This can produce adulthood behavioral deficits related to anxiety, reward, and social behavior. The bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST) encodes aspects of anxiety-like and social behaviors, and also undergoes developmental maturation during the early postnatal period, rendering it vulnerable to effects of ELS. Mice underwent maternal separation (separation 4 hr/day during postnatal day (PD)2-5 and 8 hr/day on PD6-16) with early weaning on PD17, which induced behavioral deficits in adulthood performance on two-part social interaction task designed to test social motivation (choice between a same-sex novel conspecific or an empty cup) and social novelty preference (choice between the original-novel conspecific vs. a new-novel conspecific). We used chemogenetics to non-selectively silence or activate neurons in the BNST to examine its role in social motivation and social novelty preference, in mice with or without the history of ELS. Manipulation of BNST produced differing social behavior effects in non-stressed versus ELS mice; social motivation was decreased in non-stressed mice following BNST activation, but unchanged following BNST silencing, while ELS mice showed no change in social behavior after BNST activation, but exhibited enhancement of social motivation-for which they were deficient prior-following BNST silencing. Findings emphasize the BNST as a potential therapeutic target for social anxiety disorders instigated by childhood trauma. Objective Clinical placements in rural locations are perceived by students to provide positive learning experiences to support their transition to practice. This study explores how clinical placements in a rural health setting might influence students and new graduates to think, feel and act as a health professional. Design A qualitative study comprising focus group discussions was conducted. Setting The study was conducted in a rural health service in Queensland, Australia. Participants Allied health students (n = 12) on placement and new graduates (n = 11) working in a regional health service. Main outcome measures This study identified allied health student and new graduate perspectives on clinical placement factors which support them to think, feel and act as a health professional. Results Thematic analysis was used to understand student and new graduate perceptions of how rural placements support thinking, feeling and acting as a health professional. Suggestions for supporting learning included the following Development of learning partnerships between students and clinical educators with inbuilt expectations and opportunities for reflection and supervision. Creating a culture where students are welcomed, valued and encouraged to take meal breaks with the team supported connectedness. The importance of balancing student autonomy with educating and grading support to increase independence. Conclusions Findings show clinical placement experiences identified by allied health students and new graduates which support them to begin to think, feel and act as a health professional. Suggestions provided by students and new graduates can be used to inform implementation of clinical placement experiences. Background Inflammation from skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema-like atopic dermatitis (AD) and hand eczema (HE) and following dermatological procedures (post-acts) can result in intense itching and cutaneous pain. Dermo-cosmetics containing plant extracts have been shown to reduce or alleviate these symptoms. Objectives Assessment of the tolerability and efficacy of a spray containing Rhealba\xAE Oat plantlets and Uncaria tomentosa extracts in adults and children with inflammatory skin diseases and after dermatological procedures. Methods Data from five open label studies were analysed (Study 1 adults with AD; Study 2 children with AD; Study 3 adults with psoriasis; Study 4 adults with HE; Study 5 adults who had undergone a dermatological procedure laser, intense pulsed light, glycolic acid peeling, photodynamic therapy or cryotherapy procedure). In all studies, subjects could use the test product up to six times per day for symptom relief. Physical and functional signs of inflammation, treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), soothing effect, changes in quality of life, cutaneous pain and cosmetic acceptability were compared pre- and postapplication.
