Stem cells (SCs) are cells with strong proliferation ability, multilineage differentiation potential and self-renewal capacity. SC transplantation represents an important therapeutic advancement for the treatment strategy of neurological diseases, both in the preclinical experimental and clinical settings. Innovative and breakthrough SC labelling and tracking technologies are widely used to monitor the distribution and viability of transplanted cells non-invasively and longitudinally. Here we summarised the research progress of the main tracers, labelling methods and imaging technologies involved in current SC tracking technologies for various neurological diseases. Finally, the applications, challenges and unresolved problems of current SC tracing technologies were discussed.Despite the worldwide popularity of running as a sport for children, relatively little is known about its impact on injury and illness. Available studies have focused on adolescent athletes, but these findings may not be applicable to preadolescent and pubescent athletes. To date, there are no evidence or consensus-based guidelines identifying risk factors for injury and illness in youth runners, and current recommendations regarding suitable running distances for youth runners at different ages are opinion based. The International Committee Consensus Work Group convened to evaluate the current science, identify knowledge gaps, categorise risk factors for injury/illness and provide recommendations regarding training, nutrition and participation for youth runners.Remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema (RS3PE) is a rare benign rheumatological condition characterized by sudden-onset symmetrical distal extremity edema. It can present as an isolated disease process or could be associated with other conditions. Rheumatoid factor and anticitrullinated protein antibodies are negative by definition. In current literature, there is paucity of data about the disease process. We performed a literature search using the PubMed database to identify 38 articles that met our inclusion and exclusion criteria. Our literature review focuses on the clinical picture and its diverse associations. Role of various acute phase reactants has also been outlined. There is a generalized consensus among clinicians on using moderate dose steroids for treatment. Other management options for refractory cases have also discussed. Value of several imaging modalities in diagnostic evaluation of this disease entity is touched on. Since RS3PE can be associated with other diseases, specifically cancer, timely diagnosis of this condition is necessary.Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a nosocomial pathogen containing various resistance mechanisms. Among them, metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-producing Pseudomonas are difficult to treat. Fosfomycin is an older antibiotic that has recently seen increased usage due to its activity against a broad spectrum of multidrug-resistant organisms. Our aim was to evaluate the combination of fosfomycin and meropenem against 20 MBL-producing P. aeruginosa (100% meropenem-resistant and 20% fosfomycin-resistant) using both an Etest minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) MIC method and time-kill assay. MICs for fosfomycin and meropenem were determined by Etest and by broth microdilution method for the latter. kira6 The combination demonstrated synergy by Etest in 3/20 (15%) isolates and 5/20 (25%) isolates by time-kill assay. Results from the Etest method and time-kill assay were in agreement for 14/20 (70%) of isolates. No antagonism was found. Comparing both methods, Etest MIC MIC method may be useful to rapidly evaluate other antimicrobial combinations.

Interval cytoreduction following neoadjuvant chemotherapy is a well-recognized treatment alternative to primary debulking surgery in the treatment of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer where patient and/or disease factors prevent complete macroscopic disease resection to be achieved. More recently, the strain of the global COVID-19 pandemic on hospital resources has forced many units to alter the timing of interval surgery and extend the number of neoadjuvant chemotherapy cycles. In order to support this paradigm shift and provide more accurate counseling during these unprecedented times, we investigated the survival outcomes in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer patients with the intent of maximal cytoreduction following neoadjuvant chemotherapy with respect to timing of surgery and degree of cytoreduction.

A retrospective review of all patients aged 18 years and above with FIGO (2014) stage III/IV epithelial ovarian cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy and the intention of interval cytoreductionelayed cytoreduction 43 months, p=0.52). Those who achieved complete cytoreduction to R0 (no macroscopic disease) had a significant median overall survival advantage compared with those with any macroscopic residual disease (R0 49-51 months vs R<1 22-39 months, p<0.001 vs R≥1 23-26 months, p<0.001).

Survival outcomes do not appear to be worse for patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy if cytoreduction surgery is delayed beyond three cycles. In advanced epithelial ovarian cancer patients the imperative to achieve complete surgical cytoreduction remains gold standard, irrespective of surgical timing, for best survival benefit.

The Cervix Cancer Research Network was founded by the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup with a mission to improve outcomes in cervical cancer by enhancing international access to clinical trials, specifically in under-represented, underdeveloped areas. The Cervix Cancer Research Network held its third international educational symposium in Bucharest in 2018 and is the subject of this report. The purpose of this symposium was to advance the international understanding of cervical cancer treatment patterns, to foster recruitment to Cervix Cancer Research Network clinical trials, and identify key Cervix Cancer Research Network clinical trial concepts to improve cervical cancer care worldwide.
