A Small Double Buggy That's Easy to Push One-Handed and Carry Up and Down Stairs

This is the double stroller you need in case you're looking for a lightweight, easy-to-push one-handed stroller. It's also simple to carry up and down the stairs.

It comes with two fixed seats, and up to 30 different seating configurations are possible (including an angular one!). Both seats have UPF 50+ canopies and windows that peek out.

Size

The Joovy Kooper X2 is a side-by-side double stroller that can seat two children up to 50 lbs each. The seats are larger than similar strollers that are lightweight and the canopy has large SPF 50 sunshades with peekaboo windows. Other key features include cup holders with one parent and a large, self-standing basket that can hold up to 25 pounds; swing-away bar for kids to get in and out of their seats; and swivel lock front wheels for better manoeuvrability on tough terrain. This is a great option for suburban and urban families. It is also newborn ready with the double kit which includes a newborn wedgie that allows for the best position to lie flat.

Weight

The weight of a double buggy is one of the most important factors that determine the ease to push. Typically, a light buggy is more easy to lift and carry but it might not have the suspension to deal with bumps and uneven terrain.

Make sure to read the specifications of each model before purchasing. Certain double buggies have the capacity to hold a maximum weight of a person while others have a frame limit. Some also fold with the seats removed to make them lighter and more compact and compact, which is a great option when storage space is at an all-time low.

Tri-fold doubles are usually the lightest, since they only require a single hand to lift the back and bottom sections. They're also narrower than side-by-side buggies, which makes them a good choice for fitting through doors. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest tri-fold doubles on the market, and can comfortably hold twins or a toddler and baby.

Tandem buggies are ideal for families with growing children since they begin as a single stroller and can be adapted to include a second child such as a car seat or carrycot. Some models, such as the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations, meaning they can expand with your family to accommodate a third child. Doubles are heavier than tri-folds but because the weight is more evenly distributed, they are much easier to maneuver.

Folding

The most effective double buggies for young children fold in a matter of seconds. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature because it lets them fit the buggies in the back of their vehicles and also save storage space when they are not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example has straps that can be pulled up on each seat and then the whole thing folds down. Even our oldest testers were able to fold this tri-fold with just one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is another great option for a compact double buggie. Its lightness is a plus but is the features it comes with big pop-out canopy that come with SPF 50 protection as well as a windows that peek out at you and swing-away bars that help children get in and out of their seats; and reclining chair and leg rests for toddlers.

Manoeuvrability

One of the most important factors to take into consideration when selecting the right size double buggy is its manoeuvrability, particularly how it is easy to move around with two children on board. Some pushchairs are better than others at this and include the iCandy's 'cinema seat' (where the back is elevated).

This is where narrow tandem buggies and side-by-side designs can be useful. However, these can be a bit longer overall and can be difficult to maneuver through doorways.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair is a great example, as it's a comparatively narrow model that allows for two additional seats and the most important thing is the pillion board, which can accommodate a third child.

Other three-wheeled models like the phil&teds dot extremely agile, particularly with its clever 'dot kits' that turns it into an inline buggie. It comes with different seating configurations that are suitable for children of varying ages and even allows the front seat to rotate to face the parents for optimum face-to-face bonding time. It has a large storage basket and is easy to fold. It is an excellent choice for families with growing children!

Comfort

Parents can keep both children within sight at the park, grocery store or anywhere else with narrow tandem buggies or side-byside buggies. These lightweight doubles are able to accommodate two children, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds each. They also have a pop-out canopy that can be extended far enough to provide real shade. They also have convenient cup holders for the seatback that are reversible, as well as an individual cup holder for parents, plus a large underseat basket.

If you're beginning with a growing family, you can add the double kit from phil&teds to your dot buggy to transform it into an inline double, ideal for toddlers and infants alike. The innovative 3-wheel design allows for simple kerb popping and excellent maneuverability, and the sling seat offers a great option for newborns to connect with their parents. If your kids get older you can simply switch the sling to an infant car seat adapter and you're set to go. With a deluxe rain cover and travel bag included, you're ready for your next adventure!
