To explore the clinical value of energy spectrum curves of dual-energy computer tomography (CT) in quantitative evaluation of different pathological grades of gastric adenocarcinoma.

A total of 62 patients with 36 poorly, 25 moderately and 1 well differentiated gastric adenocarcinomas confirmed pathologically were collected. Dual-energy CT plain and enhanced scanning were undergone before operation. Dual-Energy software was used to measure the slope of the energy spectrum curves (λ) in arterial and venous phases (VPs) after image reconstruction. Patients were divided into two groups according to the pathological results, including well and moderately differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma group and poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma group. Data of each group were analyzed by independent sample t-test. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of the corresponding parameters.

There were significant differences in λ values of 40-50, 40-60, 40-80, 40-90, 40-100, 40-120, 40-130, 40-140 and 40-150 keV energy ranges in VP between the well and moderately differentiated group and poorly differentiated group (P<0.05), but no significant differences in λ values of different energy ranges in arterial phase (AP) between the two groups (P>0.05). And the area under curve in 40-120 keV energy range was the largest in VP. λ

=2.69 was selected as the diagnostic threshold with the maximum Youden index, the sensitivity and specificity were 61.1% and 76%, respectively.

Late relapses of early-stage germ cell tumors are rare. Most patients (-85%) with stage I seminoma are cured by radical orchiectomy. The detection of late relapse is challenging given the relative rarity of this phenomenon, and the fact that patients who have completed surveillance are usually not undergoing regular oncologic workup nor imaging. While many treatment options do exist for a patient with late relapse of seminoma, surgery is typically the mainstay as these tumors are generally thought to be more chemo-resistant.

In this article, we describe the management of a patient with an early-stage pure seminoma who was subsequently identified to have a recurrence two decades later. We provide a review of the literature not only focused on clinical factors and biology, but also the management of late recurrences specifically in pure seminoma and in prostate gland.

Individuals with Lynch syndrome (LS) and hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) are at increased risk of both colorectal cancer and other cancers. The interplay between immunosuppression, a comorbid inflammatory condition (CID), and HNPCC on cancer risk is unclear.

To evaluate the impact of CIDs, and exposure to monoclonal antibodies and immunomodulators, on cancer risk in individuals with HNPCC.

Individuals prospectively followed in a hereditary cancer registry with LS/HNPCC with the diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease or rheumatic disease were identified. We compared the proportion of patients with cancer in LS/HNPCC group with and without a CID. We also compared the proportion of patients who developed cancer following a CID diagnosis based upon exposure to immunosuppressive medications.

A total of 21 patients with LS/HNPCC and a CID were compared to 43 patients with LS/HNPCC but no CID. Cancer occurred in 84.2% with a CID compared to 76.7% without a CID (

The Effect of magnetic field and different types of tubes on the performance of Air Conditioning was studied experimentally. A testing system of Air Conditioning Unit was developed as the test rig. The modified tubes as a straight tube before the condenser and after the evaporator were replaced by a finned bended tube with five bends and a coil finned tube with five turns. The experimental results for the temperature of refrigerant and the coefficient of performance for an air conditioning unit were presented. Changing the tubes and introducing electric charging has a significant effect on the performance of the unit. The electric charging has a positive effect of the performance of the system. The electric charging enhanced the performance by 76% in case of bent tube and by 177% in case of coil tube. The bent pipe increases the refrigerant temperature between 50% and 200%, while the coil pipe increases the temperature between 18 % and 190 %. • This method increases the refrigerant temperature for Air Conditioning system. • This method provides simple technical testing of Air Conditioning Unit with magnetic field and different tubes • This method can be useful to enhance the performance of Air Conditioning Unit.
