Results The study included 132 patients. The 50-month OS and DFS were 45% and 6.7%, respectively. No differences emerged analyzing OS according to yp stage. Time to relapse was significantly longer for yp Stage I and II, and for yp N0, compared with yp N+. Recurrence occurred in 48 cases (36.3%) with a 9 months median time to relapse. Local and distal relapse were 10 (7.5%) and 38 (28.7%) cases, respectively (p ≦ 0.001). Conclusions Pathological stage after CROSS regimen does not relate to OS and DFS. Time to recurrence is significantly longer for yp Stages I and II and ypN0. Chemoradiotherapy in a neoadjuvant setting may influence the site of relapse, significantly reducing local recurrences.Plasma membrane intrinsic proteins (PIPs) transport water, CO2 and small neutral solutes across the plasma membranes. In this study, we used the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR-associated protein 9 system (CRISPR/Cas9) to mutate PIP1;4 and PIP1;5 in a pip1;1,2,3 triple mutant to generate a pip1;1,2,3,4,5 (pip1s-) quintuple mutant. Compared to the wild-type (WT) plant, the pip1s- mutants had smaller sized rosette leaves and flowers, less rosette leaf number, more undeveloped siliques, shorter silique and less seeds. The pollen germination rate of the pip1s- mutant was significantly lower than that of the WT and the outer wall of the pip1s- mutant's pollen was deformed. The transcriptomic analysis showed significant alterations in the expression of many key genes and transcription factors (TFs) in the pip1s- mutant which involved in the development of leaf, flower and pollen, suggesting that the mutant of PIP1s not only directly affects hydraulics and carbon fixation, but also regulates the expression of related genes to affect plant growth and development.African swine fever (ASF) is a highly lethal hemorrhagic viral disease of domestic pigs caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV). Although a good advance has been made to understand the virus, a safe and effective vaccine against ASFV is still lacking and its eradication solely depends on its early and accurate diagnosis. Thus, improving the available diagnostic assays and adding some validated techniques are useful for a range of serological investigations. The aim of this study was to produce and characterize p54 monoclonal antibodies with an ultimate goal of developing a monoclonal antibody-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for ASFV antibody detection. Five monoclonal antibodies against p54 protein expressed in Escherichia coli was generated and their characterizations were investigated. Furthermore, a competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (cELISA) based on a monoclonal antibody designated as 2A7 was developed. To evaluate the performance of the assay, a total of 365 pig serum samples (178 negative and 187 positive samples) were tested and a receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was applied to determine the cut-off value. Based on the ROC analysis, the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.982 (95% confidence interval 96.9% to 99.4%), besides a sensitivity of 92.5% and a specificity of 98.9% was achieved when the percent inhibition of 20% was selected as a threshold. Moreover, the result showed an excellent agreement when compared to other commercially available blocking ELISA (kappa value = 0.912) and showed no reaction to other swine pathogens. Overall, the newly developed cELISA method offers a promising approach for a rapid and convenient ASFV serodiagnosis, which could be used as alternative to other serological assays for screening possible ASFV infection. The interest for artificial meat has recently expanded. However, from the literature, perception of artificial meat in China is not well known. A survey was thus carried out to investigate Chinese attitudes toward artificial meat. The answers of 4666 respondents concluded that 19.9% and 9.6% of them were definitely willing and unwilling to try artificial meat respectively, whereas 47.2% were not willing to eat it regularly, and 87.2% were willing to pay less for it compared to conventional meat. Finally, 52.9% of them will accept artificial meat as an alternative to conventional meat. Emotional resistance such as the perception of "absurdity or disgusting" would lead to no willingness to eat artificial meat regularly. The main concerns were related to safety and unnaturalness, but less to ethical and environmental issues as in Western countries. Nearly half of the respondents would like artificial meat to be safe, tasty, and nutritional. Whereas these expectations have low effects on willingness to try, they may induce consumers' rejection to eat artificial meat regularly, underlying the weak relationship between wishes to try and to eat regularly. Thus, potential acceptance of artificial meat in China depends on Chinese catering culture, perception of food and traditional philosophy.Ultrasound non-destructive testing (NDT) is a common technique used for defect detection in different materials, from aluminium to carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs). Oxaliplatin In most cases, a liquid coupling medium/immersion of the inspected component is required to maximize impedance matching, limiting the size of the structure and materials. Air-coupled inspection methods have recently been developed for noncontact inspections to reduce contact issues in standard ultrasonic inspections. However, transmission of ultrasound in air is very inefficient because of the enormous impedance mismatch between solids and air, thus requiring a signal amplification system of high-sensitivity transducers. Hence, the captured signal amplitude may not be high enough to reveal any wave distortion due to defects or damage. This work presents a design of a holey-structured metamaterial lens with a feature size of λ/14 aiming at improvement of acousto-ultrasonic imaging using air-coupled transducers. The required effect is obtained by matching geometrical parameters of the proposed holey-structured metamaterials and the Fabry-Perot resonance modes of the structure. Transmission tests have been conducted on different fabricated metamaterial-based structures, to assess the frequency component filtering of the proposed method in both acoustic (f = 5 kHz, 20 kHz) and ultrasonic range (f = 30 kHz, 40 kHz). Results showed an improved sensitivity of damage imaging, with an increase in amplitude of the design frequencies of the lens by 11 dB. Air-coupled inspections were conducted on a stress-corrosion cracked aluminum plate and impacted CFRP plate using the holey-structured lens. Results showed an improvement in the damage-imaging resolution due to a wave-amplitude increase across the defective features, thus demonstrating its potential as an efficient and sensitive inspection tool for damage-detection improvement in geometrically complex components of different materials.
