s a higher relative bioavailability with similar safety and pharmacodynamic effects. We report the case of a patient who presented with chest pain and palpitation, and in whom multimodality imaging, including transthoracic echocardiography, computer tomography angiogram, and coronary angiogram led to the diagnosis of interventricular septum dissecting aneurysm resulting from the rupture of a sinus of Valsalva aneurysm and paravalvular aortic root pseudoaneurysm. The patient underwent the modified Cabrol procedure in the cardiac surgery department. His ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm was repaired and its communication with the pseudoaneurysm was closed. This case report highlights the role of multimodality cardiac imaging.

Well-being might be lower among dentistry professionals than other health professionals, and differ by personal, professional and sociodemographic factors. Few studies have considered dentistry academics who have different work roles and functions than clinicians. This exploratory study focused on well-being among dentistry academics and aimed to explore associations with perfectionism, professional factors and sociodemographics.

An online survey was carried out with academic staff in Dentistry and Oral Health departments of nine Universities in Australia and New Zealand. Well-being was assessed using the 22-item Psychological General Well-Being Index, with a maximum score of 110 indicating good well-being. Perfectionism was assessed using the 8-item Short Almost Perfect Scale, with a maximum score of 56 and a higher score indicating perfectionism. Twenty items were used to assess professional and 7 items assessed sociodemographic factors. Associations were explored using correlation and multiple linear regression.

There was no significant bivariate association between perfectionism and well-being. Multiple linear regression indicated a significant association between hours of undergraduate teaching and psychological well-being, after adjustment for age, gender, income and overall health.

This exploratory study showed poor well-being among dentistry academics, particularly in those teaching undergraduate students for more than 6h/week.

The study aimed to translate the English version of the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index, assess its reliability and validity, and demonstrate its psychometric properties with regard to OHRQoL in the elder Pakistani population.

In this cross-sectional study, 408 elder people were randomly recruited from three day-care centres. In the translation process, the translated Urdu version was reviewed by a committee of experts, followed by back-translation into English and re-reviewed by the same committee of experts. The questionnaire sought information about socio-demographic characteristics information and self-perception of oral, general health and treatment needs. OHRQoL was examined using GOHAI-U, and intraoral examination recorded the decayed, missing, and filled teeth. Reliability, internal consistency, convergent and discriminant validity of GOHAI-U were examined.

The mean GOHAI-U score was 40.2 (SD=5.7, range=20-55). The Cronbach's alpha for GOHAI score was 0.71, item-scale correlation coefficients ranged from 0.63 to 0.76, and test-retest correlation ranged from 0.59 to 0.74. Three factors supported the theoretical construction in the component factor analysis of the index. For convergent validity, there was a significant relationship between the GOHAI score and self-perceived oral, general health and treatment needs (P<.05). For discriminant validity, a significant correlation was found between the GOHAI score and clinical measures of dental health status except with the carious teeth.

The GOHAI-U has sufficient reliability and constructs validity to be used as an efficient measure of oral health-related quality of life in the Pakistani elder population.

Proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine-2-receptor antagonists (H2RAs) are two of the most widely used acid-suppressive drugs (ASDs). Some studies have reported that prenatal ASD exposure may increase the risk of asthma and other allergic diseases. This study investigated the effects of ASDs on the risk of atopic dermatitis in patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases.

This population-based retrospective cohort study used data of 289,850 patients with at least two diagnoses of upper gastrointestinal diseases (UGIDs) between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2005, from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database. selleck screening library The AD risks among ASD users and nonusers were compared. Differences in sociodemographic characteristics and potential covariates were examined. AD hazard ratios were estimated, and groups were compared using Cox proportional hazards regression analysis after adjustment for age, sex and other covariates.

In total, 109,980 patients were included. The adjusted hazard ratio (HR) of ADh UGIDs, and the increase in risk appeared to be dose-dependent. ASDs should be used only in situations where clear clinical benefits can be obtained.Only a few studies reported the incidence and risk factors of skin cancers in lung transplant recipients. The aim of this study was to determine the cumulative incidence of skin cancers in a cohort of patients undergoing lung transplantation and to define predictors of their development. About 247 consecutive patients receiving lung transplantation at the Thoracic Surgery Unit of University Hospital of Padova between May 1995 and October 2016 were studied. Cumulative incidence of skin cancers was estimated considering death as a competing event. The effect of potential predictors was evaluated with univariate and multivariable Cox models for competing risks. About 37 (15.0%) patients developed skin tumors. The cumulative incidence of any skin cancer was 14.2% at 5 years, 21.4% at 10 years, and 24.3% at 15 years posttransplantation. Age at transplantation, male gender, phototype II, and voriconazole use were independent risk factors for development of squamous cell carcinoma. Only male gender and phototype II were independent risk factors for development of basal cell carcinoma.
