Traditional cameras field of view (FOV) and resolution predetermine computer vision algorithm performance. These trade-offs decide the range and performance in computer vision algorithms. We present a novel foveating camera whose viewpoint is dynamically modulated by a programmable micro-electromechanical (MEMS) mirror, resulting in a natively high-angular resolution wide-FOV camera capable of densely and simultaneously imaging multiple regions of interest in a scene. We present calibrations, novel MEMS control algorithms, a real-time prototype, and comparisons in remote eye-tracking performance against a traditional smartphone, where high-angular resolution and wide-FOV are necessary, but traditionally unavailable.Frequent intake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is associated with adverse health outcomes, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. We used combined data from the 2010 and 2015 National Health Interview Survey to examine the prevalence of SSB intake among US adults in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Approximately two-thirds of adults reported consuming SSBs at least daily, including more than 7 in 10 adults in Hawaii, Arkansas, Wyoming, South Dakota, Connecticut, and South Carolina, with significant differences in sociodemographic characteristics. Efforts to decrease SSB consumption could consider the sociodemographic and geographic differences in SSB intake when designing equitable interventions. In this study, we assessed tobacco product use among US women aged 18 years or older using data from the 2018-2019 Tobacco Use Supplement to the Current Population Survey. State-specific current use of any tobacco product (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, regular pipes, water pipes or hookah, and smokeless tobacco) ranged from 6.6% (California) to 23.1% (West Virginia); current use of 2 or more tobacco products ranged from 0.6% (New York) to 3.0% (Oklahoma). Current tobacco product use among US women differed significantly by age, education, race/ethnicity, household income, marital status, disability status, and US region. Comprehensive tobacco control strategies, including targeted interventions, can reduce tobacco use among all women.

Many sociodemographic factors affect women's ability to meet cancer screening guidelines. Our objective was to examine which sociodemographic characteristics were associated with women meeting US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) guidelines for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening.

We used 2018 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data to examine the association between sociodemographic variables, such as race/ethnicity, rurality, education, and insurance status, and self-reported cancer screening for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. We used multivariable log-binomial regression models to estimate adjusted prevalence ratios and 95% CIs.

Overall, the proportion of women meeting USPSTF guidelines for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening was more than 70%. The prevalence of meeting screening guidelines was 6% to 10% greater among non-Hispanic Black women than among non-Hispanic White women across all 3 types of cancer screening. Women who lacked health insurancmically disadvantaged groups, especially women with low incomes and without health insurance. To increase the prevalence of cancer screening and reduce disparities, interventions must focus on reducing economic barriers and improving access to care.In response to the escalating world water demand and aiming to promote equal opportunities, reverse osmosis desalination has been widely implemented. Desalination is however constantly subjected to fouling and scaling which increase the cost of desalination by increasing the differential pressure of the membrane and reducing the permeate flux. A bench-scale desalination equipment has been used in this research to investigate the mitigation of fouling and scaling. This study involved the performance of membrane autopsy for fouling characterisation with special attention to flux decline due to sulphate precipitation and biofouling. Visual inspection, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and microbiology tests (API) were performed. Results obtained showed the presence of diatoms, pseudomonas and polysaccharides as the main foulants causing biofouling. Analysis revealed sulphate deposits as well as aluminium, calcium and silica as the main elements contributing to inorganic scaling. Findings pointed out that the pre-treatment system of the small-scale reverse osmosis water treatment was inefficient and that selection of pre-treatment chemicals should be based on its compatibility with the membrane structure. The importance of characterisation for the verification of fouling mechanisms is emphasised.

Infidelity causes mental health problems, family disruptions, rumination about events and changes in women's beliefs about the disloyal person. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of mindfulness-based schema (MBS) therapy and forgiveness therapy in emotional responses, cognitive distortions and self-compassion of women affected by infidelity.

It was an experimental research with a pretest-posttest and follow-up design. Eighty-one women affected by infidelity were randomly assigned to two experimental groups and one control group. The experimental groups received interventions for ten 90-minute weekly sessions. Participants completed the questionnaires in the pretest, post-test and follow-up. Repeated measures analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis.

Both experimental groups were significantly different from the control group (

<.01). Forgiveness therapy was more effective in emotional responses and self-compassion in the post-test (

.01) and follow-up (

<.001) stages.ekly sessions. Participants completed the questionnaires in the pretest, post-test and follow-up. Repeated measures analysis of variance was used for statistical analysis. Results Both experimental groups were significantly different from the control group (p less then .01). Forgiveness therapy was more effective in emotional responses and self-compassion in the post-test (p less then .01) and follow-up (p less then .001) stages. MBS therapy was more effective in cognitive distortions in the post-test and follow-up stages (p less then .001). Participants of experimental groups were responders and satisfied with treatment and had a good therapeutic relationship. Conclusion Given the type of problems faced by women affected by infidelity, forgiveness therapy and MBS therapy can be used to reduce mental sufferings and communication problems.A 65-year-old right-handed man gradually became socially indifferent and less active. Four years later, he was indicted for molesting children on multiple occasions. Psychomotor slowness and executive impairment contrasted with sparing of language, semantic memory, visuospatial perception, construction praxis, and right-left orientation. Neuroimaging showed asymmetric atrophy of dorsomedial frontal and anterior temporal lobes, and hypoperfusion of medial prefrontal cortex consistent with a diagnosis of behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia. Further information revealed that the patient exhibited pedophilic behavior several years prior to symptom onset. We conclude that preexisting developmental pedophilia was "unmasked" by the underlying progressive frontotemporal degeneration.Purpose To describe a patient who presented with right unilateral white-eyed posteriorly-draining carotid-cavernous fistulas (CCF) causing an isolated, acute-onset trochlear nerve palsy with atypical progression to a contralateral left red-eyed anteriorly-draining CCF associated with orbital congestion.Observation A 74-year-old female presented with an acute onset incomitant right hypertropia consistent with the clinical diagnosis of a superior oblique palsy. Initial workup including MRI was normal. During a several-week course, she progressed to a comitant deviation. Six-weeks later she developed an episode of severe headache followed by worsening of her diplopia, reverse left hypertropia and left orbital congestive signs. Pyridostatin mw CTA revealed mild opacification of the left cavernous sinus without a concomitantly present superior ophthalmic vein dilatation. link2 A diagnostic angiogram was obtained which revealed a posterior-draining indirect CCF of the right internal carotid artery (ICA) and an anterior-draining indirect CCF of the left ICA. Transvenous Coil embolization resulted in immediate resolution of diplopia, orbital congestion, and headaches. Conclusion Although it is atypical for a CCF - or other vascular pathology - to present with an isolated fourth nerve palsy, this case illustrates that vascular imaging should be considered in cases of acquired ocular motor paresis associated with headaches and cases with atypical progression despite normal initial cranial imaging.

Loss of vital bioactive components of

fruit extract during food processing is a major issue. Therefore, to retain the antioxidant potential and to increase the mineral bioavailability, gum arabic stabilized nanoemulsion of Fig fruit extract was prepared.

. Nanoemulsion was formulated using three different levels (1, 3, and 5%) of fig extract, however, to optimize the fig extract concentration, the amount of gum arabic and linoleic acid was kept constant.

The average droplet size of nanoemulsion was observed in the range of 22.88-37.87 nm, whereas the Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy confirmed the presence of functional groups in the emulsion system. Also, increased ionic concentration significantly (

< 0.05) increased the average droplet size and zeta potential of nanoemulsion during storage. Increased shear rate and temperature unveiled a slight decrease in apparent viscosity of the nanoemulsion. Non-significant (

< 0.05) difference in TBA value confirmed the oxidative stability of the emulsion. Significantly (

< 0.05) higher mineral bioavailability for calcium was observed as compared to iron and zinc.

Our results manifested improved anti-oxidant activity, mineral bioavailability, and oxidative stability of Fig extract nanoemulsion, suggesting its potential use as a therapeutic alternative.

Lower income patients with sarcoidosis experience worse outcomes compared to those with higher incomes. The reasons for these disparities are not well understood.

To identify patient reported barriers and facilitators to optimal care among sarcoidosis patients residing in high and low median income zip codes.

Patients with biopsy proven sarcoidosis who received pharmacologic within the past year and were cared for in a sarcoidosis clinic of a large, urban medical system were included. Focus groups were stratified by high and low median income zip codes. Transcriptions were analyzed utilizing grounded theory.

Five focus groups were conducted - two included patients living in zip codes with high median incomes ($84,263, IQR $79,334-$89,795) and three included patients living in zip codes with low median incomes ($27,470, IQR $22,412-27,597). link3 Sarcoidosis patients from low-income and high-income zip codes reported remarkably similar experiences. Patients reported sarcoidosis being a burden due to the disease manifestations and adverse effects of treatment which led to compromised ability to perform their activities of daily living at home or at work.
