The experimental lipophilicity data have been compared with theoretical lipophilicity parameters estimated by various computational methods. Good correlations between the experimental and calculated lipophilicity parameters have been found for both investigated classes of compounds. Correlations between the lipophilicity of the thiazole chalcones and aurones and their antiproliferative activity were discussed. The methodologies and data gathered in this study will contribute to the lipophilicity studies of chalcones and aurones derivatives, two important classes of compounds in medicinal chemistry. Here, we identify a novel lncRNA, linc02349, which increases significantly during osteogenic differentiation. MATERIALS AND METHODS Human umbilical cord-derived stem cells (hUC-MSCs) and dental pulp mesenchymal stem cells were used. Overexpression and knockdown of linc02349 in cell lines were generated using lentiviral-mediated gene delivery method. Bioinformatics prediction, Ago2-RIP assay and dual-luciferase reporter system were employed to examine miRNA which interacts with linc02349. Mechanistically, linc02349 acts as a molecular sponge for miR-25-3p and miR-33b-5p to control expression abundance of SMAD5 and Wnt10b, respectively, which eventually activated Dlx5/OSX pathway and hence promoted osteogenic differentiation. In addition, we revealed that STAT3 interacts with linc02349 promoter region and positively regulates the linc02349 transcriptional activity. CONCLUSION These findings identify that linc02349 modulates the osteogenic differentiation through acting as a sponge RNA of miR-25-3p and miR-33b-5p and regulating SMAD5 and Wnt10b, and proposed a new interaction between STAT3 and linc02349, which could be a potential target in the process the osteogenesis of hUC-MSCs for future clinical application. © 2020 The Authors. In order to increase the drug loading capacity of microbubbles, carboplatin is encapsulated into alginate polymer layer. The phospholipid microbubbles (MBs) are synthesized by MicroSphere Creator, which is connected with T-junction and micromixer for the treatment with CaCl2 solution to provide gelation of the alginate coated phospholipid microbubbles (AMBs). The carboplatin loaded alginate coated phospholipid microbubbles (CAMBs) result in 12.2 ± 0.21 µm mean size, obtained by mixing with 0.05% CaCl2 using T-junction. The cytotoxic activities of the synthesized MBs, AMBs, and CAMBs are also investigated with the 3-(4,5-Dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) (MTT) and live/dead fluorescent dying assays in the A549 and BEAS-2B cell lines. Low yield expression, the purely empiric choice of detergents, as well as protein aggregation and misfolding during reconstitution may result in an average of less than one reconstituted channel per large unilamellar vesicle. This limits their applicability for pf measurements, independent of whether light scattering or fluorescence quenching of encapsulated dyes is monitored. Here the micropipette aspiration technique is adopted because its superb sensitivity allows resolving pf values for one order of magnitude smaller protein densities in sphingomyelin and cholesterol rich giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs). Protein density is derived from intensity fluctuations that fluorescently labeled channels in the aspirated GUV induce by diffusing through the diffraction limited spot. A perfusion system minimizes unstirred layers in the immediate membrane vicinity as demonstrated by the distribution of both encapsulated and extravesicular aqueous dyes. pf amounted to 2.4 ± 0.1 × 10-13 cm³ s-1 for aquaporin-1 that served as a test case. KGaA.BACKGROUND Immediate implantation is generally a predictable treatment, but sometimes there are significant tissue alterations at the surgical site which compromise clinical outcomes. PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate the association between tissue alterations and different clinical parameters in esthetic areas following immediate implant placement and provisionalization. MATERIALS AND METHODS Clinical parameters were measured at 36 non-grafted immediate implant sites enrolled in a randomized controlled trial. Alterations of bone and soft tissue were measured at 12 months after the treatment. Stepwise linear regression analysis was performed to analyze the association between different clinical parameters and outcomes of interest. RESULTS Gingival thickness 3 mm apical to the gingival margin (GT3) was positively associated with recession of mid-buccal gingival margin, while vertical distance between the buccal gingival margin and the crest (GM-bone) was negatively associated (P = .03, .01). Flap elevation and older age were positively associated with recession of the interproximal gingival margin (P = .04, .01). Horizontal defect dimension was positively associated with buccal ridge dimensional reduction while gingival thickness at free gingival margin (GT1) was negatively associated (P = .01, .04). Regarding interproximal bone level change, none of the clinical parameters was significantly associated. CONCLUSIONS Gingival phenotype was the only parameter significantly associated with both buccal gingival recession and buccal ridge dimensional reduction. It is important to assess clinical parameters before and during immediate implant procedure. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals LLC.The natural progressive dysfunction of most living organisms-ageing-has captured the attention of several studies, with the intention to develop rejuvenation strategies. Evidence is emerging of a positive correlation between natural ageing and chromosomal instability (CIN). In this issue of EMBO Reports, Barroso-Vilares et al [1] now show a link between ageing and the erroneous assembly of the apparatus required for a proper cellular division. They compare this mechanism in young and naturally aged human cells and describe a strategy to delay age-related CIN. © 2020 The Authors.PURPOSE This study was undertaken to learn how predatory journal articles were cited in articles published in legitimate (nonpredatory) nursing journals. The extent of citation and citation patterns were studied. DESIGN A two-phase approach was used. METHODS In Phase 1, 204 articles published in legitimate nursing journals that cited a predatory publication were randomly selected for analysis from a list of 814 articles with predatory journal citations. In Phase 2, the four predatory journal articles that were cited most frequently were analyzed further to examine their citation patterns. FINDINGS The majority (n = 148, 72.55%) of the articles that cited a predatory publication were research reports. Most commonly, the predatory article was only cited once (n = 117, 61.58%). Most (n = 158, 82.72%) of the predatory articles, though, were used substantively, that is, to provide a basis for the study or methods, describe the results, or explain the findings. The four articles in Phase 2 generated 38 citations in legitimate journals, published from 2011 to 2019, demonstrating persistence in citation. An evaluation of the quality of these articles was mixed. CONCLUSIONS The results of this study provide an understanding of the use and patterns of citations to predatory articles in legitimate nursing journals. Authors who choose predatory journals as the channel to disseminate their publications devalue the work that publishers, editors, and peer reviewers play in scholarly dissemination. Likewise, those who cite these works are also contributing to the problem of predatory publishing in nursing. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Nurse authors should not publish their work in predatory journals and should avoid citing articles from these journals, which disseminates the content through the scholarly nursing literature. © 2020 Sigma Theta Tau International.BACKGROUND Botulinum toxin type A (BTA) injection is a widely-used procedure to correct cosmetic problems caused by muscular hyperactivity. "Cobblestone chin" refers to the appearance of remarkable chin creases caused by mentalis contraction. AIMS The aim of this case report is to raise the awareness of paradoxical bulging after BTA injection in mentalis. PATIENT/METHODS A 26-year-old female asked for cosmetic correction of the "cobblestone chin". BTA injection was performed routinely to the mentalis muscle. However, on the second day after injection, an unusual paradoxical bulging at chin was presented. RESULTS We speculated that the imbalanced relaxation of mentalis caused by improper injection and uneven diffusion of BTA is responsible for the bulging. After a supplementary injection of BTA in the remaining hyperactive muscle fibers based on the ultrasound examination, the bulging was relieved and chin contour improved significantly. CONCLUSION Injection of BTA in mentalis should cover the whole thickness of the muscle to prevent imbalanced paralysis and paradoxical chin bulging, especially in severe mentalis hyperactivity cases.
