Among theories of human language comprehension, cue-based memory retrieval has proven to be a useful framework for understanding when and how processing difficulty arises in the resolution of long-distance dependencies. Most previous work in this area has assumed that very general retrieval cues like [+subject] or [+singular] do the work of identifying (and sometimes misidentifying) a retrieval target in order to establish a dependency between words. However, recent work suggests that general, handpicked retrieval cues like these may not be enough to explain illusions of plausibility (Cunnings & Sturt, 2018), which can arise in sentences like The letter next to the porcelain plate shattered. Capturing such retrieval interference effects requires lexically specific features and retrieval cues, but handpicking the features is hard to do in a principled way and greatly increases modeler degrees of freedom. To remedy this, we use well-established word embedding methods for creating distributed lexical feature representations that encode information relevant for retrieval using distributed retrieval cue vectors. We show that the similarity between the feature and cue vectors (a measure of plausibility) predicts total reading times in Cunnings and Sturt's eye-tracking data. The features can easily be plugged into existing parsing models (including cue-based retrieval and self-organized parsing), putting very different models on more equal footing and facilitating future quantitative comparisons.
As most treatment guidelines for antipsychotics focus on clinical efficacy, we will instead focus on adverse effects and how to manage them. In this review, we aim to provide an up-to-date clinical resource for providers who prescribe antipsychotics and have included here "what's new" and "what to do" for numerous antipsychotic-induced adverse effects.
A review was performed of relevant literature, studies, randomized clinical trials, and systematic reviews. This information was combined with the clinical experience of the authors to formulate a practical guide for treating adverse effects of antipsychotics with an emphasis on metabolic and movement disorder adverse effects and brief mention of some others (sedation and sexual dysfunction).
Antipsychotics are an integral part of psychiatric care and are often prescribed lifelong. When choosing an antipsychotic, special consideration must be given to adverse effects which have an undeniable impact on quality of life and can often be the deciding factor iallowing better personalization of antipsychotic choice.
This systematic review sought to synthesize the evidence regarding the effectiveness of illness perception interventions compared with control conditions at changing illness perceptions and improving glycaemic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Seven electronic databases were searched between October 2018 and May 2020. Randomized controlled trials that tested interventions informed by the Common-Sense Model in adults with type 2 diabetes, and measured illness perceptions and glycaemic control at pre- and post-intervention were included. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess risk of bias.
A total of 4095 articles were identified, of which nine randomized control trials (2561 participants) across 12 publications were included in this review. Findings showed that all the illness perception domains were modified in at least one trial, with the exception of cyclical timeline perceptions. Coherence, personal control, treatment control and chronic timeline perceptions were the most frequemeasure the emotional and causal domains, and involve family members in the intervention. Risk of recurrence among patients with oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) who survive 5 years is low. The goal of this study was to assess long-term survival of patients with OPC alive without recurrence 5 years after diagnosis.
This study included newly diagnosed patients with OPC, who had been treated with radiation and were alive without recurrence 5 years after diagnosis. Overall survival (OS) probabilities beyond 5 years were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Factors associated with OS were determined using Bayesian piecewise exponential survival regression. Standardized mortality ratios for all-cause death were estimated controlling for study year, age, and sex in the US general population.
Among 1699 patients, the additional 2-year, 5-year, and 10-year OS probabilities were 94%, 83%, and 63%, respectively, and were lower than those in the general population. Patients who were older, were current or former smokers, had other than tonsil or base of tongue tumors, or had T4 tumors had a higher risk of death. Patients who had base of tongue tumors and had received intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or lower-radiation doses had a lower risk of death. Standardized mortality ratios were higher among current and heavy smokers and lower among recipients of IMRT and lower radiation doses.
In this large cohort, long-term survival among patients with OPC was good but lower than predicted for the general population. find more Patients treated with IMRT and those with less tobacco exposure had better outcomes.

Up to now, the biggest stumbling block in optical interconnections has been the lack of efficient light sources despite significant progress that has been made in germanium-on-silicon (Ge-on-Si) and III-V-on-silicon (III-V-on-Si) lasers. 2D materials and metal halide perovskites have attracted much attention in recent years, and exhibit distinctive advantages in the application of on-chip light emitters. Herein, this Progress Report reviews the recent progress made in light-emitting materials with a focus on new materials, i.e., 2D materials and metal halide perovskites. The report briefly introduces the current status of Ge-on-Si and III-V-on-Si lasers and discusses the advances of 2D and perovskite light-emitting materials for photonic integration, including their optical properties, preparation methods, as well as the light sources based on these materials. Finally, challenges and perspectives of these emerging materials on the way to the efficient light sources are discussed.
There are three major types of genetic cutaneous porphyrias (GCP) erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP), variegate porphyria (VP), and hereditary coproporphyria (HCP). Scarce data are available regarding their impact on patients' quality of life in the Mediterranean region.
To describe the cutaneous features of GCP in Israel.
An established nationwide cohort of patients with GCP diagnosed during 1988-2019 was surveyed by telephone for cutaneous features of GCP. Impact on quality of life was assessed using the Dermatology Life Quality Index.
Of the 95 patients with GCP, 71 (75%) completed the survey (21 HCP; 40 VP; 10 EPP). All EPP patients reported cutaneous symptoms compared with 58% of VP and 5% of HCP (P<.001). Mean age at symptom onset was 7±6years in EPP and 25±15years in VP (P<.001). Photosensitivity was the most common symptom in EPP (90%). In VP photosensitivity (52%), blistering (52%) and scarring (74%) were all common symptoms. In both VP and EPP, the dorsal hands/forearms were the most affected regions (≥96%), and in≥78%, symptoms occurred on an almost daily basis. All EPP patients changed their lifestyle due to cutaneous symptoms vs 57% in VP. Major effect on quality of life was observed among EPP patients compared with a moderate effect in VP. No treatment was effective in EPP, while phototherapy and moisturizers were effective in 5 of 7 (71%) VP patients.

Maintaining the balance between immunity and tolerance of immune cells is strongly controlled by several sophisticated regulatory mechanisms of the immune system. Among these, the E3 ligase ubiquitin Casitas B cell lymphoma-b (Cbl-b) is a newly identified component in the ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation system, which is thought to be an important negative regulator of immune cells. An update on the current knowledge and new concepts of the relevant immune homeostasis program co-ordinated by Cbl-b in different cell populations could pave the way for future immunomodulatory therapies of various diseases, such as autoimmune and allergic diseases, infections, cancers and other immunopathological conditions. In the present review, the latest findings are comprehensively summarized on the molecular structural basis of Cbl-b and the suppressive signaling mechanisms of Cbl-b in physiological and pathological immune responses, as well as its emerging potential therapeutic implications for immunotherapy in animal models and human diseases.
Chronic nonspecific low back pain (LBP) is very common; it is defined as pain without a recognizable etiology that lasts for more than three months. Some clinical practice guidelines suggest that acupuncture can offer an effective alternative therapy. This review is a split from an earlier Cochrane review and it focuses on chronic LBP.
To assess the effects of acupuncture compared to sham intervention, no treatment, or usual care for chronic nonspecific LBP.
We searched CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, two Chinese databases, and two trial registers to 29 August 2019 without restrictions on language or publication status. We also screened reference lists and LBP guidelines to identify potentially relevant studies.
We included only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture for chronic nonspecific LBP in adults. link2 We excluded RCTs that investigated LBP with a specific etiology. We included trials comparing acupuncture with sham intervention, no treatment, and usual care. The primary outcomes werethe availability, cost and patient's preferences.
We found that acupuncture may not play a more clinically meaningful role than sham in relieving pain immediately after treatment or in improving quality of life in the short term, and acupuncture possibly did not improve back function compared to sham in the immediate term. However, acupuncture was more effective than no treatment in improving pain and function in the immediate term. link3 Trials with usual care as the control showed acupuncture may not reduce pain clinically, but the therapy may improve function immediately after sessions as well as physical but not mental quality of life in the short term. The evidence was downgraded to moderate to very low-certainty considering most of studies had high risk of bias, inconsistency, and small sample size introducing imprecision. The decision to use acupuncture to treat chronic low back pain might depend on the availability, cost and patient's preferences.
