This observational cross-sectional study of 152 people with HIV (PWH) examined the effects of age and estimated duration of HIV infection (EDI) on depressive and anxiety symptoms. All participants were cisgender men and completed the Profile of Moods State (POMS), a self-report inventory of current (i.e., past week) mood states. In a cohort of pregnant women offered Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), we evaluate the relationship between internalized and anticipated stigma and PrEP initiation at first antenatal visit, 3-month continuation and adherence using multivariable logistic regression. High internalized and anticipated PrEP stigma are associated with lower PrEP care initiation at first antenatal visit (aOR internalized stigma = 0.06; 95% CI = 0.03-0.11 and aOR anticipated stigma = 0.55; 95% CI = 0.31-1.00) compared to women with low reported stigma, after controlling for covariates. Women whose partners have not been tested for HIV or whose serostatus remains unknown have 1.6-times odds of PrEP retention at 3-months compared to women whose partners have been tested (aOR = 1.60; 95% CI = 1.02-2.52) after adjusting for covariates. Recent HIV outbreaks among people who inject drugs (PWID) and service disruptions from COVID-19 have renewed concerns on HIV resurgence. We examined the relationship between fentanyl use and three injection-related HIV risk behaviors among PWID in Baltimore City (BC) and Anne Arundel Country (AAC), Maryland. PWID (N = 283) were recruited to the study through targeted sampling at street-based locations in BC and AAC from July 2018 to March 2020. Receptive syringe sharing (RSS) [adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 2.8, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.2-6.3] and daily injecting (AOR 1.9, 95% CI 1.0-3.6) were associated with injecting fentanyl and cocaine together. Fentanyl availability and COVID-19 bring new HIV prevention challenges, particularly among those who inject fentanyl with cocaine, highlighting the importance to expand and sustain harm reduction, prevention, and treatment services for PWID to reduce HIV and overdose burden.Expanding PrEP access necessitates training that supports healthcare providers' progression along the PrEP implementation cascade, moving from PrEP awareness to prescription. We surveyed 359 USA providers about PrEP training content and format recommendations. We examined the association between cascade location and training recommendations. Most providers were aware of PrEP (100%), willing to prescribe PrEP (97.2%), had discussed PrEP with patients (92.2%), and had prescribed PrEP (79.9%). Latent class regression analysis revealed that cascade location was associated with training recommendations. Although all providers recommended PrEP-specific content (e.g., patient eligibility), providers who were located further along the cascade also recommended more comprehensive content, including sexual history-taking and sexual and gender minority competence training. Providers further along the cascade were also more likely to recommend interactive training formats (e.g., role-playing). These insights from providers furthest along the cascade indicate the importance of including comprehensive content and interactive formats in future PrEP training initiatives.Social support is associated with improved HIV care and quality of life. We utilized latent class analysis to identify three classes of baseline emotional and tangible perceived social support, termed "Strong", "Wavering" and "Weak". "Weak" vs. "Strong" perceived social support was associated over time with an 8% decreased risk of optimal antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence for emotional and 6% decreased risk for tangible perceived social support. Importantly, "Wavering" vs "Strong" social support also showed a decreased risk of ART adherence of 6% for emotional and 3% for tangible support. "Strong" vs. "Weak" perceived support had a similar association with undetectable viral load, but the association for "Strong" vs. "Wavering" support was not statistically significant. Intensity of social support is associated with HIV care outcomes, and strong social support may be needed for some individuals. It is important to quantify the level or intensity of social support that is needed to optimize HIV outcomes.
Doppler-based methods are widely used for blood flow imaging in clinical settings. However, they inherently estimate the velocity component only in the axial direction. Therefore, various studies of angle-independent methods have been conducted. The multi-angle Doppler method is one such angle-independent method, in which the velocity vector is estimated using axial velocities obtained from multiple directions by steering an ultrasonic beam. Recently, plane wave imaging, which realizes a very high frame rate of several thousand frames per second, was applied to the multi-angle Doppler method. However, the maximum detectable velocity, i.e., the aliasing limit, was reduced depending on the number of steering angles. In the present study, the feasibility of a specific transmit sequence, namely, the repeated transmit sequence, was examined using the plane-wave multi-angle Doppler method.
In the repeated transmit sequence, plane waves were emitted to the same direction twice, after which the steering angle wasemented in plane wave imaging with the repeated transmit sequence, and the proposed method was shown to be feasible through numerical simulation and in vivo measurement of a carotid artery.

Undifferentiated plant cells, however, tend to biosynthesize secondary metabolites to a lesser extent and sometimes not at all. This phenomenon in cultured cells is associated with the transcriptional suppression of biosynthetic genes due to epigenetic alterations, such as low histone acetylation levels and/or high DNA methylation levels. Here, using cultured cells of bamboo (Bambusa multiplex; Bm) as a model system, we investigated the effect of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors on the activation of cryptic secondary metabolite biosynthesis. The Bm suspension cells cultured in the presence of an HDAC inhibitor, suberoyl bis-hydroxamic acid (SBHA), exhibited strong biosynthesis of some compounds that are inherently present at very low levels in Bm cells. Two major compounds induced by SBHA were isolated and were identified as 3-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid (1) and 3-O-feruloylquinic acid (2). Their productivities depended on the type of basal culture medium, initial cell density, and culture period, as well as the SBHA concentration. The biosynthesis of these two compounds was also induced by another HDAC inhibitor, trichostatin A. These results demonstrate the usefulness of HDAC inhibitors to activate cryptic secondary metabolite biosynthesis in cultured plant cells.
In cranio-maxillofacial surgery, it is of great clinical significance to segment mandible accurately and automatically from CT images. However, the connected region and blurred boundary in teeth and condyles make the process challenging. At present, the mandible is commonly segmented by experienced doctors using manually or semi-automatic methods, which is time-consuming and has poor segmentation consistency. In addition, existing automatic segmentation methods still have problems such as region misjudgment, low accuracy, and time-consuming.
For these issues, an automatic mandibular segmentation method using 3d fully convolutional neural network based on densely connected atrous spatial pyramid pooling (DenseASPP) and attention gates (AG) was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the DenseASPP module was added to the network for extracting dense features at multiple scales. Thereafter, the AG module was applied in each skip connection to diminish irrelevant background information and make the network focus on ave practical significance in cranio-maxillofacial surgery in the future.
The proposed network has better segmentation performance and realizes accurate and automatic segmentation of the mandible. Furthermore, its segmentation time is 50.43 s for one CT scan, which greatly improves the doctor's work efficiency. It will have practical significance in cranio-maxillofacial surgery in the future.After thoracic aortic replacement, extensive adhesions are expected to develop between the prosthesis and the lung. There have been no definitive reports on anatomical lung resection performed in patients with left lung cancer after thoracic aortic replacement. Herein, we report a series of five such cases. Our findings showed that severe adhesions were encountered after aortic arch and descending aortic replacement, but not after ascending aortic replacement. We think that these adhesions started developing in the early postoperative period and were particularly severe in the case of left upper lobe lung cancer after arch replacement. However, anatomical lobectomy and systematic lymph node dissection could still be performed safely by devising a surgical technique. In addition, there was a possibility that a new aortic aneurysm may have occurred at the time of surgery. Therefore, it is important to perform a thorough preoperative evaluation and coordinate with the cardiovascular surgery department.Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a chronic, idiopathic, granulomatous large vessel vasculitis of unknown etiology.
