GO flakes induce significant changes in the out-of-plane organization of a positively charged lipid monolayer with a minor influence on in-plane assembly of lipid chains. This interaction is packing-specific, and the influence of GO is much stronger at lower surface pressure. Even though for zwitterionic phospholipids, the GO flakes may partly insert into the lipid chains, the X-ray scattering results indicate that the flakes preferentially lie horizontally underneath the positively charged lipid monolayer. This in-depth structural description may pave new perspectives for the scientific community for the development of GO-based biosensors and biomedical materials. The animal models of seizures and/or epilepsy are widely used to identify the pathomechanisms of the disease as well as to look for and test the new antiseizure therapies. The understanding of the mechanisms of action of new drugs and evaluation of their safety in animals require previous knowledge concerning the biomolecular anomalies characteristic for the particular model. Among different models of seizures, one of the most widely used is the kindling model that was also applied in our study. To examine the influence of multiple transauricular electroshocks on the biochemical composition of rat hippocampal formation, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) microspectrosopy was utilized. Ro 61-8048 inhibitor The chemical mapping of the main absorption bands and their ratios allowed us to detect significant anomalies in both the distribution and structure of main biomolecules for electrically stimulated rats. They included an increased relative content of proteins with β-sheet conformation (an increased ratio of the absorbance at the wavenumbers of 1635 and 1658 cm-1), a decreased level of cholesterol and/or its esters and compounds containing phosphate groups (a diminished intensity of the massif of 1360-1480 cm-1 and the band at 1240 cm-1), as well as increased accumulation of carbohydrates and the compounds containing carbonyl groups (increased intensity of the bands at 1080 and 1740 cm-1, respectively). The observed biomolecular abnormalities seem to be the consequence of lipid peroxidation promoted by reactive oxygen species as well as the mobilization of glucose that resulted from the increased demand to energy during postelectroshock seizures. In this study, we demonstrate the controllable clustering of thermoresponsive high-aspect-ratio hydrogel pillars by modulating the elastic modulus of the materials. Generally, high-aspect-ratio polymeric pillars readily cluster owing to the effect of capillary force and adhesion. However, this unstable behavior hinders the implementation of various functionalities such as wetting, adhesion, and energy harvesting on surfaces with such pillars. Conversely, clustering behavior may be required in the case of digital microfluidic platforms that grip tiny particles or perform biological and chemical analyses. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a reliable method for controlling the clustering behavior. To this end, we fabricate high-aspect-ratio pillars that exhibit capillary-induced clustering behavior based on the cross-linker density of the thermoresponsive hydrogel and the temperature of the surrounding environment. Through experimental and theoretical analyses, a criterion for controlling the clustering and recovery behavior of the fabricated pillars is determined. The established criterion is employed to fabricate a smart mobile camera lens cover that can produce blurred and deblurred images based on optical variations resulting from the clustering and recovery of the pillars. The results of this study can be used to fabricate high-aspect-ratio polymeric pillars for use in diverse applications.Catalytic hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB) provides an effective way to generate pure H2 at ambient temperature for fuel cells. Pt-based catalysts usually exhibit great initial activity toward this reaction but deactivate quickly. Here, we report that the metal-support interactions in Pt/Co3O4 nanocages can simultaneously accelerate the H2 generation and enhance the catalyst's stability. The Pt/Co3O4 catalyst is made for the first time by embedding Pt clusters (∼1.2 nm) in a high-surface-area Co3O4 nanocage to maximize the metal-support interface. The turnover frequency of the Pt/Co3O4 catalyst is about nine times higher than that of commercial Pt/C and outperforms almost all other Pt-based catalysts. X-ray absorption spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, in situ spectroscopy, and density functional theory calculations suggest that the Co3O4 nanocages with rich oxygen vacancies facilitate the adsorption and dissociation of H2O to give electropositive H (Hδ+), while the in situ embedded Pt clusters can accelerate the formation of electronegative H (Hδ-) from AB. Subsequently, the Hδ+ and Hδ- spill over to the abundant interfacial sites and bond into H2. In addition to this dual-function synergy effect, the strong metal-support electronic interactions between Co3O4 and Pt benefit the desorption of poisonous B-containing byproducts from Pt sites. This effect together with cluster anchoring leads to a fivefold enhancement in durability compared to commercial Pt/C. The metal-support interactions revealed in this study provide more options for catalyst design toward facile H2 production from chemical hydrogen storage materials.
Although the diagnostic criteria for diabetes in children and adolescents should be widely known to all healthcare professionals, many cases of type 1 diabetes (DM1) are still not recognized in time. The aim of this study was to compare the experiences with the diagnosis of DM1 of young doctors during training and specialists working as primary health care physicians in Poland.
50 specialists in paediatrics or family medicine (average professional experience of 14.6 years) and 50 doctors, and those without specialization (up to 4 years after graduating from medical studies, average professional experience of 1.4 years) participated in the survey. The questionnaires were conducted from November 2019 to November 2020.
Most of the study participants correctly answered the questions about the diagnostic criteria of diabetes and its management at the moment of diagnosis, except for the question regarding diagnostic criteria for diabetes in oral glucose tolerance test. The correct answers varied from 96% to 72% among medical specialists and physicians during the training, respectively. What is interesting is the relatively small number of diagnosed cases of DM1 during the entire professional career of specialists (0-12 cases), compared to the doctors without specialization (0-5 cases). Medical specialists declared more frequently the use of a glucometer in their daily practice (mean 6 vs. 1, p < 0.05), but after taking into account the years of experience, the difference was insignificant.
It is important to educate primary care physicians, despite their professional experience. Practical education of physicians is also necessary.

Medical work requires complete dedication to work, long hours of absence from home and family, as well as personal sacrifice on various issues. This results in impaired quality of life, and the phenomenon of depression and suicide is more common among physicians than in the general population. The impairment in quality of life and function was defined for years as burnout, and this figure of speech reflected the physician's inability to cope with existing pressures. In recent years, the concept of 'moral injury' has been emerging to explain a significant part of the burnout phenomenon. The term describes the poor mental state of the physician who is forced to make immoral choices as part of the organizational demands. link2 This perception fundamentally changes the concept that the poor function at work and in personal life is only the weakness of the doctor who lacks coping resources and resilience, therefore needing personal support such as yoga and mindfulness exercise. It emphasizes the organization responsib of the doctor who lacks coping resources and resilience, therefore needing personal support such as yoga and mindfulness exercise. It emphasizes the organization responsibility for change, which will minimize moral dilemmas, thereby the moral injury. This will allow the doctor to live professional, as well as personal life, in an optimal way.

Perianal Crohn's disease is correlated with a significant decrease in quality of life and can predict unfavorable outcomes. In this condition, it is recommended that a multidisciplinary team including a gastroenterologist, colorectal surgeon and radiologist will be involved to optimize therapeutic decisions. Despite the advent of biologic and surgical therapies, the success rate of therapy is unsatisfactory and may result in a high chance of recurrence. In recent years, novel therapies have been introduced which include local injection of mesenchymal stem cells and surgical techniques which can improve the outcome and quality of life of the patients. The goal of this review, is to raise the awareness and summarize the therapeutic options available for the treatment of perianal Crohn's disease.

The integration and involvement of patients in shaping research, processes and policies in the health care system is a new trend, which is gaining momentum in many countries around the world. Although participatory processes have existed for many years, systematic and organized mechanisms have only begun maturing in recent years. The first expression of this trend is in aspects related to research, including accessibility to information about experiments; patient participation in research as research subjects; participation in the design and management of research. link3 The second area in which patients are involved is priority setting in research, drug approval processes and policy making. The third subject of patient involvement is the formation of therapeutic practices in healthcare quality improvement, healthcare routine, and the development of assessment tools. In this article, we review participatory processes, which are initiated by the authorities via mandatory standardization or participatory practices embedding, and also by patient organizations and public representatives working alongside, or as part of healthcare organizations.
