While cross-sectional studies underline that child and parent factors in pediatric chronic pain are reciprocally related, so far, little is known on their prospective relationship, especially in treatment contexts. This study aims to analyze directions of influence between child and parental outcomes using data from an intervention study.

The sample covered 109 families with children aged 7-13 years diagnosed with functional abdominal pain (FAP). Child outcomes included pain and impairment, and parental outcomes covered caregiver-specific distress including both parental personal time burden (i.e., less time available for personal needs) and emotional burden due to child's pain (i.e., increased worries). Cross-lagged panel analyses examined the directions of the relations between child and parental outcomes across time (pretreatment T1, post-treatment T2, and 3-month follow-up and 12-month follow-up T3/T4).

First, a significant improvement over time in all measures was observed. Cross-lagged effects were found for less parental personal time burden at T2, predicting both less pain (β = -0.254, p = .004) and less impairment (β = -0.150, p = .039) at T3. Higher baseline pain was predictive for higher parental emotional burden after treatment (β = -0.130, p = .049) and, reversely, for less emotional burden at 12-month follow-up (β = 0.261, p = .004).

Addressing parental personal time burden in FAP treatment might possibly support the improvement on the child level. Replication of results in larger samples is warranted to gain more insight into the directions of influence and, in that way, to optimize treatment for pediatric FAP.

The rare event of handling critically ill children often challenge the emergency care team. Several studies have investigated effects of simulation-based team training to prepare for such events, but the body of evidence remains to be compiled. We performed a systematic review of the effects of simulation-based team training on clinical performance and patient outcome.

From a search of MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library, we included studies of team training in emergency pediatric settings with reported clinical performance and patient outcomes. We extracted data using a predefined template and assessed risk of bias using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials 2.0 and the Newcastle Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale.

We screened 1926 abstracts and included 79 studies. We identified 15 studies reporting clinical health care professional performance or patient outcomes. Four studies reported survival data, 5 reported time-critical clinical events, 5 reported adherence to guidelines, c months. Several approaches have been employed to boost immunity in plants by interfering with the transmission or lifecycles of viruses. In this review, we discuss the successful application of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein (Cas) (CRISPR/Cas) systems to engineer plant immunity, increase plant resistance to viruses, and develop viral diagnostic tools. Furthermore, we examine the use of plant viruses as delivery systems to engineer virus resistance in plants and provide insight into the limitations of current CRISPR/Cas approaches and the potential of newly discovered CRISPR/Cas systems to engineer better immunity and develop better diagnostics tools for plant viruses. Finally, we outline potential solutions to key challenges in the field to enable the practical use of these systems for crop protection and viral diagnostics.A simple, rapid, precise and accurate stability indicating high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method was developed for simultaneous quantification of Ciprofloxacin (CIP) and Loteprednol (LOT) along with their forced degradation products using central composite design (CCD) approach. CCD was prepared with three independent variables in a gradient HPLC method. In gradient program (GP) the ratio of phosphate buffer in the mobile phase was 70%, 75%, 80%, 85% and 90%, the pH of phosphate buffer was 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, 3.2 and 3.4, flow rate was 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 mL/min. Resolution, tailing factor (CIP) and tailing factor (LOT) were selected as response factor. The effective separation of LOT and CIP was achieved on Phenomenex EVO-C18 column (4.6 mm × 250 mm × 5 μm particle size) opting gradient mode of elution. The mobile phase composed of 10 mM Phosphate buffer pH 3.2 with ortho-phosphoric acid and the organic phase composed of mixture of acetonitrile and methanol in 5050% v/v with flow rate of 1 mL/min and diode array detection at 258 nm. The optimized variables found were flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, ratio of phosphate buffer in GP 80% at pH 3.0. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines and applied for analysis of stability samples.

An increased prevalence of functional hyperandrogenism-including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)-has been described in women with type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, heterogeneity between studies is frequent, and prevalence rates vary according to different criteria used for the diagnosis of PCOS and the population studied.

We aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence of PCOS and related hyperandrogenic traits in premenopausal women with T1D. This way, we intend to increase the precision of the estimates of prevalence of PCOS and related traits in women with T1D, and to explore sources of heterogeneity while providing prevalence estimates for clinically relevant subgroups such as the different phenotypes.

We conducted a systematic review of the literature using Medline-OVID and Embase databases (Open Science Framework registry for systematic review protocols, https//osf.io/6cv9p/). Studies published up to 29 March 2021 were considered. We selected cross-sectional or prospecties, 684 women). Pooled prevalence of classic PCOS (US National Institutes of Health criteria) was 16% (95% CI 10-22%; 9 studies, 614 women). Pooled prevalence of hyperandrogenic PCOS (Androgen Excess and PCOS Society criteria) was 26% (95% CI 16-41%; 5 studies, 329 women). Hirsutism (24%), hyperandrogenaemia (29%), oligomenorrhoea (24%) and PCOM (34%) were also prevalent. Heterogeneity was high in almost all these meta-analyses.

For that purpose, a finite element-based model using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is developed. The effect of PFS intervention on the hemodynamic efficiency is estimated by all of the significant criteria used for the evaluation of aneurysm occlusion and possible rupture; the flow velocity, pressure, wall shear stress (WSS), and WSS-related indices. Results showed that PFS intervention preserves the effects of high flowrate and decreases irregular flow recirculation in the sac of the aneurysm. The flow velocity reduction inside the aneurysm sac is in the range of 55% to 80% and the time-averaged wall shear stress (TAWSS) reduction is in the range of 42% to 53% by PFS deployment. Medical and surgical treatments used to reduce the symptoms of involuntary tremor can cause negative side effects. This study examined the ability of passive vibration absorbers in reducing the amplitude of postural tremor (PT). Inertial measurement unit (IMU) was used to record PT signals at the forearm and hand of a patient. IMU signal was used to excite an upper limb modeled to represent the flexion-extension vibrational motion at the joints. Equations of motion were solved numerically to obtain a response that fits the measured tremor signal. Passive tuned mass damper (TMD) was modeled as a cantilever beam and a screw placed along its length, at a position reflecting its operational frequency. Natural frequency of the TMD was derived for different mass positions and validated numerically and experimentally. Modal damping ratio of the TMD, for each mass position, was also estimated. Mass position and damping coefficient of the TMD were optimized depending on the minimization in the power spectral density (PSD) of angular displacement amplitude at the wrist joint. Optimized three-TMD system of 28.64 g total effective mass with the estimated modal damping ratio reduced 83.1% of the PSD of the angular displacement amplitude. To determine if the use of H5P affected learning and student attainment, we compared the student grades among three cohorts the 18/19 cohort who had 'wet' laboratory classes, the 19/20 cohort who had 'wet' laboratory classes with additional video support and the 20/21 cohort who had the H5P alternative. Our analysis shows that students using the H5P were not at a disadvantage to students who had 'wet' laboratory classes with regard to assessment outcomes. Student feedback, mean grade attained and an upward trend in the number of students achieving first-class marks (≥70%), indicate H5P may enhance students' learning experience and be a valuable learning source augmenting traditional practical classes in the future.
