Materials & methods The DNA copy number variation, the simple nucleotide variation, methylation and mRNA data of pancreatic cancer patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Four molecular subgroups (iC1, iC2, iC3 and iC4) of pancreatic cancer were identified by integrating analysis. Results The iC1 subgroup harbors better prognosis, higher immune score, lesser DNA copy number variation mutations and better genomic stability compared with iC2, iC3 and iC4 subgroups. In this trial, we examined whether abdominal MRI is as effective as computed tomography (CT) in the detection of retroperitoneal metastases of testicular cancer.Material and methods This prospective study included 50 patients, 46 cases of retroperitoneal metastases and 4 controls without abdominal metastases (mean age 33, 5 years, range 20-65 years). Imaging of the retroperitoneum was performed using CT and 1.5 T MRI with diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). One experienced radiologist re-analyzed all of the examinations without knowledge of clinical information. All metastatic or suspicious lymph nodes were noted and measured two-dimensionally from axial images. Nodal detection and the size of detected nodes on CT and MRI were compared.Results There was no significant difference in the detection of retroperitoneal metastasis between CT and MRI. The sensitivity of MRI was 0.98. There was no statistically significant difference in the sizes of lymph nodes found in CT and MRI, and even very small lymph nodes could be detected in MRI as well as in CT.Conclusion MRI with DWI is as good as CT in detection of retroperitoneal lymph node metastases regardless of lymph node size, and it can be used as part of follow-up of testicular cancer patients instead of ionizing radiation producing imaging methods.Purpose To directly compare an algorithmic external levator resection technique with the choice of intraoperative adjustment to the same technique without intraoperative adjustments.Methods A sequential controlled prospective comparative cohort study. Two cohorts were compared a historical control adjustment, and an experimental non-adjustment group. Fourteen patients, 25 eyelids, were in the historical cohort; and 15 patients, 23 eyelids, were in the non-adjustment cohort. Primary acquired ptosis patients who met inclusion criteria were considered. All patients underwent a standardized external levator resection technique. Intraoperative adjustments were performed only in the historical cohort. Age, follow-up time, surgical time, and marginal reflex distance 1 (MRD1) were collected. Statistical analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test. Statistical significance was p less then 0.05. Primary and secondary outcome measures were postoperative MRD1 minus goal MRD1, and surgical time, respectively.Results Twenty-five historical eyelids were compared with 23 non-adjusted eyelids. The average patient age was 68.4 years (range 19-84) and 59.3 years (range 24-83) for the adjusted and non-adjusted groups. Six-month postoperative (postoperative minus goal) MRD1 was -0.1 mm (95% CI -0.3-0.1) and -0.2 mm (95% -0.5-0.0) (p = 0.33), and surgical time was 13.8 min (95% CI 12.6-15.1) and 9.5 min (95% CI 9.0-10.1) (p less then 0.001) for the adjusted and non-adjusted cohort, respectively.Conclusions The external levator resection, utilizing a standardized algorithm approach, is an efficacious technique for involutional eyelid ptosis. Eating Attitudes Test (EAT), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were applied to all participants.Results The mean age of the 157 individuals included in the study was 47.2 ± 11.4 (18-76) years and 36% (n = 56) of the individuals were female and 64% (n = 101) were male. When the patients were ranked according to the severity of OSAS, 38.2% (n = 60) were severe, 20.4% (n = 32) were moderate, 24.2% (n = 38) were mild, and 17.2% (n = 27) were OSAS negative. There was a significant difference in terms of the age-and-BMI-adjusted EAT score according to OSAS severity (p = .042).
