Low grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC) differs from high grade serous in terms of pathogenesis, molecular, genetic, and clinical features. Molecular studies have been hampered by small sample sizes, heterogenous histology, and lack of comprehensive testing. We sought to molecularly profile LGSOC in a homogenously tested, histologically confirmed cohort.

Gynecologic tract melanoma (GTM) is a rare malignancy with historically poor outcomes. The current study examines patterns of care and oncologic outcomes in a large single-institution cohort from the contemporary therapeutic era.

Patterns of care and predictors of outcomes were evaluated for all GTM patients without metastatic disease at diagnosis who were treated at our institution between 2009 and 2020 with >6 months of follow-up.

Of the 124 patients included, anatomic subsites were vulvar (n = 82, 66%), vaginal (n = 34, 27%), or cervical (n = 8, 6%). Primary tumor was resected for 85% (n = 106) with surgical nodal evaluation for 60% (n = 75). Systemic therapy, most commonly immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI, 58% systemic therapy), was used to treat all except one unresectable patient (17/18) and 33% (35/106) of resectable patients. Seven patients received neoadjuvant ICI. Fourteen patients received adjuvant radiation therapy to the pelvis (RT, 13% of those undergoing resection). With a median follow-up of 45 months, 100 patients (81%) recurred. The objective of this literature review was to list the different etiologies of macroglossia reported in the literature, to identify characteristics that might guide diagnosis, and to create a diagnostic algorithm.

The bibliographic search was carried out between October 2019 and July 2020 in the PubMed research base using the keywords "macroglossia" (MESH) and/or "tongue enlargement".

Of the 1711 references identified, 615 articles were excluded, and 1096 abstracts were reviewed. We classified the different etiologies identified according to their mechanism and whether they were congenital or acquired. The etiologies are divided into the following categories genetic malformation syndromes, non-syndromic congenital malformations, endocrinopathies, neuromuscular diseases, storage disorders, infectious, inflammatory, traumatic, and iatrogenic diseases.

Based on this review, we propose a diagnostic algorithm for macroglossia according to the characteristics described. Complete fascial closure significantly reduces recurrence rates and wound complications in abdominal wall reconstruction. Few data exist comparing preoperative botulinum toxin A to component separation techniques, and the aim was to do so in a matched study.

A prospective, single-center, hernia-specific database was queried, and a 31 propensity-matched study of patients undergoing open abdominal wall reconstruction from 2016 to 2021 with botulinum toxin A versus component separation techniques was performed based on body mass index, defect width, hernia volume, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wound classification.
