In the present study, we aimed to analyze lncRNA and related mRNA profiles in the DRG in a knee joint inflammation rat model.

Complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) was injected in the rat knee joint for preparing the joint inflammation model. A lncRNA-mRNA microarray of rat DRG was employed for transcriptome analysis. Functional roles of differentially expressed lncRNAs and their related mRNAs in the injured DRG were delineated by bioinformatic analysis.

We observed that expression levels of 9000 lncRNAs were altered on day 7 post-CFA, of which 45.17% were up-regulated and 54.83% were down-regulated. Specifically, 69 lncRNAs (42 up and 27 down) were significantly regulated. We also observed that expression levels of 13,744 mRNAs were altered on day 7 post-CFA, of which 49.67% were up-regulated and 50.33% were down-regulated. Specifically, 102 mRNAs (51 up and 51 down) were significantly regulated. Using quantitative real-time PCR, we verified the changes in differentially expressed lncRNAs in the injured DRG.

These results suggest that microarray-based RNA sequencing can be used to identify altered lncRNAs and relevant mRNAs in the DRG of rats with knee joint inflammation.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most commonly diagnosed malignancy and its incidence, as well as mortality rate, is increasing globally. In this paper, the epidemiological analysis of CRC which includes colon cancer (CC) and rectum cancer (RC) is done among the Saudi Arabian population based on the registered cases in the Saudi cancer registry between 2006 and 2016. The study describes the crude incidence rates (CIRs) and age-standardized incidence rates (ASIRs) of colorectal cancer by year of diagnosis, age group, and administrative regions to explore the spread, distribution, trend, and factual state of the disease in Saudi Arabia.

Intracranial solitary fibrous tumors/hemangiopericytomas (SFTs/HPCs) are rare spindle cell tumors originating from interstitial tissue that are usually benign. Primary malignant intracranial SFTs/HPCs are extremely rare. Here we describe a case of malignant intracranial SFT/HPC.

A 59-year-old woman presented with a space-occupying lesion in the left cerebellar tentorium. Based on imaging findings, we made a preoperative diagnosis of meningioma. During the operation, we found that the tumor had an abnormally rich blood supply and could not be completely removed. Histologic findings, immunophenotype (positive for cluster of differentiation [CD]34, CD99, signal transducer and activator of transcription 6, and B cell lymphoma 2), and a Ki-67 proliferative index of 20-30% for the primary tumor were typical of malignant intracranial SFT/HPC. The tumors showed high sensitivity to radiotherapy and the residual tumor was significantly reduced after intensity-modulated radiation therapy. The patient has had no neurologic symptoms and no recurrence of the tumor in 2 years of follow-up.

The effect of increasing body weight on pulmonary function and the fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) remains controversial and the role of different body compositions in the relationship between obesity with pulmonary function and FeNO is still unrevealed. Thus, we aim to determine the effect of overweight/obesity on lung function and FeNO, focusing on the relationship with different body compositions.

Eighty-two non-smoker students (20 ± 1.9 years) were divided into two groups 38 subjects with normal weight (BMI = 18.5-24.99) and 44 overweight/obese subjects (BMI ≥ 25).
