However, the specific PUFA derivates of Dorper had a negative impact on the odor profile. Hence, we suggest that further works should be focused on crossbreed lambs by Dorper and Tan, to enhance the lamb production and improve meat flavor. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of a single dose application of two daily toothpastes on enamel exposed to acid attack. The research was conducted on human molars enamel fragments (n = 72). The two different toothpastes active ingredients were sodium fluoride (NaF) and stannous fluoride (SnF2). They were compared in protecting the surface of the enamel exposed to three acids citric acid, lactic acid and hydrochloric acid. A spectrophotometer was used to measure the calcium ions and phosphate released in the solutions by the enamel specimens. Afterward, ionic concentrations were analyzed through the t-Student test, in order to estimate the significance level (p 0.05). Nevertheless, acid-resistant deposits were detected in samples treated with stannous fluoride and exposed to lactic acid, though the presence of tin ion deposits on samples treated with stannous fluoride was not shown. A single dose of a fluoride-based toothpaste before different acids attack, in simulated oral cavity conditions, did not show a significant preventive effect. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of oral transmucosal (OTM) cannabidiol (CBD), in addition to a multimodal pharmacological treatment for chronic osteoarthritis-related pain in dogs. Twenty-one dogs were randomly divided into two groups in group CBD (n = 9), OTM CBD (2 mg kg-1 every 12 h) was included in the therapeutic protocol (anti-inflammatory drug, gabapentin, amitriptyline), while in group C (n = 12), CBD was not administered. Dogs were evaluated by owners based on the Canine Brief Pain Inventory scoring system before treatment initiation (T0), and one (T1), two (T2), four (T3) and twelve (T4) weeks thereafter. Pain Severity Score was significantly lower in CBD than in C group at T1 (p = 0.0002), T2 (p = 0.0043) and T3 (p = 0.016). Pain Interference Score was significantly lower in CBD than in C group at T1 (p = 0.0002), T2 (p = 0.0007) and T4 (p = 0.004). Quality of Life Index was significantly higher in CBD group at T1 (p = 0.003). The addition of OTM CBD showed promising results. Further pharmacokinetics and long-term studies in larger populations are needed to encourage its inclusion into a multimodal pharmacological approach for canine osteoarthritis-related pain.Aiming at the problems of substantial pressure loss, small range ratio and contact measurement in traditional gas flowmeters, this paper designs a new type of data-filtering ultrasonic gas flowmeter. The flowmeter is composed of hardware circuits such as STM32F407 (ARM Cortex 32-bit microcontroller) main control chip and high-precision timing chip TDC-GP22 (time to digital converter). The software uses a new data-filtering algorithm combining Kalman filtering algorithm and arithmetic average algorithm to improve the measurement accuracy of ultrasonic gas flowmeter. Through experimental comparison, we find that the filtering algorithm effectively reduces the measurement error of the system. Within the flow range of 0.025-4 m3/h, the maximum relative error of the system measurement is 2.7404%, which meets the national standard for the measurement error of the 1.5-level instruments. Moreover, it reduces the zero-drift to about one half of the original, which significantly improves the stability of the system. The gas flowmeter has the characteristics of high accuracy, good stability, low power consumption, and the overall performance is significantly improved.Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have a high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) events in both hospitalized patients and outpatients. GC7 Although thromboprophylaxis is recommended for hospitalized patients with IBD, implementation is not universal, especially for non IBD-related hospitalizations. Our objective was to present VTE and thromboprophylaxis adherence rates among hospitalized patients with IBD. An electronic data repository was created of all patients with IBD who visited the emergency department (ED) of our tertiary medical center between 2012 and 2018. The data included tabular variables and free-text physician records. We searched the data for VTE events, using ICD10 coding. Overall, there were 7009 ED visits of 2405 patients with IBD, 1556 (64.7%) with Crohn's disease (CD) and 849 (35.3%) with ulcerative colitis (UC). Thromboprophylaxis was administered in 463 hospitalizations (12.4% of IBD-related and 10.9% of non IBD-related hospitalizations, p = 0.13). Nineteen VTEs were diagnosed in the ED and seventeen were diagnosed during hospitalization (11 non IBD-related and 6 IBD-related hospitalizations, 0.6% and 0.28% respectively, p = 0.12). One patient died during hospitalization and an additional two in the 90 days post-discharge from hospitalization (unrelated to VTEs). In conclusion, thromboprophylaxis rates in hospitalized patients with IBD are low, despite possible implications and established guidelines. Thromboprophylaxis should be implemented in patients with IBD hospitalized for all indications. Background and objectives The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of first trimester uterine artery Doppler ultrasonography for the early prediction of preeclampsia (PE), in at-risk pregnant women. Materials and Methods This was a prospective longitudinal study, including 120 Caucasian pregnant women with risk factors for PE. The potential of pulsatility indexes (PI) and notch was assessed as a tool for preeclampsia screening. Results Doppler examination of the uterine artery performed early at 11-14 WA allows the detection of pregnancies that will develop PE with a sensitivity of 61.5% and a specificity of 63.8% based on PI analysis. Predictive power increases slightly by adding bilateral notch (sensitivity = 65.4%; specificity = 66%). Conclusions Uterine artery Doppler examination is an effective non-invasive screening test for the development of PE in pregnancies at risk, particularly appropriate in health systems with limited means of evaluating other biomarkers.
