The contents of Dynorphin A(1-8) decreased gradually in ischemic cortices in rats and an intracerebroventricular administration of synthetic Dynorphin A(1-8) reduced the volume of cerebral infarction in our previous research. However, the specific protective mechanism is unclear and Dynorphin A(1-8) is unlikely to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) by noninvasive oral or intravenous administration as a macromolecule neuropeptide. In this study, intranasal administration was used to middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) rats to assessed the therapeutic effects of Dynorphin A(1-8) by evaluating behavior, volume of cerebral infarct, cerebral edema ratio, histological observation. Then apoptosis neuron rate was detected by TUNEL staining. Immunohistochemical staining was carried out to explore the alteration of Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase-3. Finally, κ-opioid receptor antagonist and N-methyl-d-aspartate(NMDA) receptor antagonist were used to explore its possible mechanism. We found that MCAO rats under intranasal administration of Dynorphin A(1-8) showed better behavioral improvement, higher extent of Bcl-2, activity of SOD along with much lower level of infarction volume, brain water content, number of cell apoptosis, extent of Bax and Caspase-3, and concentration of MDA compared with those in MCAO model group and intravenous Dynorphin A(1-8) group. Administration of nor-BNI or MK-801 reversed these neuroprotective effects of intranasal Dynorphin A(1-8). In summary, Dynorphin A(1-8), with advantages of intranasal administration, could be effectively delivered to central nervous system(CNS). Dynorphin A(1-8) inhibited oxidative stress and apoptosis against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, affording neuroprotection through NMDA receptor and κ-opioid receptor channels.

Fatigue, caused by dyspnea associated with progression of interstitial pneumonia (IP), can negatively affect patients' quality of life (QOL). Ninjin'yoeito (NYT), a Chinese herbal medicine, is prescribed for general symptoms of fatigue and for fatigue associated with various respiratory diseases. However, there is a lack of integrated research on the effects of NYT in patients with IP. Therefore, we retrospectively investigated the efficacy of NYT in patients with IP and fatigue.

From the IP patients who had taken NYT, 19 who met the following inclusion criteria were included (1) age of ≥20years, (2) fatigue, and (3) history of NYT administration. The primary endpoint was fatigue, which was assessed using the Chalder Fatigue Scale (CFS). The secondary endpoints were loss of appetite and dyspnea, which were evaluated using the Simplified Nutritional Appetite Questionnaire (SNAQ) and modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) scores, respectively. All items were measured before and after 12weeks of NYT adminirefore, a multifaceted approach to improve and maintain the QOL is needed in addition to the standard of care. This study showed that NYT can improve fatigue and help maintain the QOL in IP patients. The family Chlamydiaceae currently comprises a single genus Chlamydia, with 11 validly published species and seven more taxa. It includes the human pathogens Chlamydia (C.) trachomatis, C. pneumoniae and C. psittaci, a zoonotic agent causing avian chlamydiosis and human psittacosis, as well as other proven or potential pathogens in ruminants, birds, snakes, reptiles and turtles. During routine testing of 15 apparently healthy captive flamingos in a zoo in 2011, an atypical strain of Chlamydiaceae was detected by real-time PCR of cloacal swab samples. Sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene revealed high similarity to the uncultured Chlamydiales bacterium clone 122, which previously had been found in gulls. As more samples were collected during annual campaigns of the flamingo ringing program in southern France from 2012 to 2015, Chlamydiaceae-specific DNA was detected by PCR in 30.9% of wild birds. From these samples, three strains were successfully grown in cell culture. Ultrastructural analysis, comparison of 16S and 23S rRNA gene sequences, whole-genome analysis based on de novo hybrid-assembled sequences of the new strains as well as subsequent calculation of taxonomic parameters revealed that the relatedness of the flamingo isolates to established members of the family Chlamydiaceae was sufficiently distant to indicate that the three strains belong to two distinct species within a new genus. Based on these data, we propose the introduction of Chlamydiifrater gen. nov., as a new genus, and Chlamydiifrater phoenicopteri sp. nov. and Chlamydiifrater volucris sp. nov., as two new species of the genus.Due to the rapid wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) development and the China's 2060 goal of carbon neutrality, the contribution of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from WWTPs should not be overlooked. Thus, the GHG accounting method, featured with site-specific and real operation data targeting city-level WWTPs, is scientifically and pragmatically called for. In this paper, we compared IPCC (IPCC 2006 and IPCC 2019), optimized IPCC and operational data integrated methods (ODIM) for the direct N2O and CH4 emissions for total 50 WWTPs in Shanghai. Data for all WWTPs were collected for ODIM and indirect GHG emissions evaluation, covering frequently used wastewater treatment processes in China such as anaerobic anoxic oxic, oxidation ditch, sequencing batch reactor, anoxic oxic, biofilm and membrane bio-reactor. The factors affecting the total GHG emissions intensity were also analyzed. The results showed that, in comparison with IPCC 2019, IPCC 2006 underestimated both direct N2O and CH4 emissions for a total pein China.Nitrogen (N) application and salinity are key factors influencing crop yield and net economic benefit in coastal saline-alkali soils. Integrated analysis and optimization of the benefits of wheat-corn cropping under different nitrogen applications in saline soils could provide lay the scientific basis for sustainable development of agriculture in coastal farmlands. A total of 571 pair-reviewed literature data on two-factor cross-over trials, involving soil salinity and nitrogen application, were integratively analyzed. Based on multi-objective optimization of crop yield, agronomic and net economic benefits, and soil nitrate residue in coastal saline-alkali soils, area-specific nitrogen application strategies were developed. The results showed that increasing the N application rate under 1.8-2.9‰ salinity can increase crop yield and economic benefits. FPH1 The net economic benefit of crops was negative under 3.5‰ salinity. Above that threshold of 3.5‰, it is not suitable for planting food crops. Consequently, it is necessary to strengthen the management of saline-alkali soils.
