OUTCOMES Radical nephrectomy was successfully performed within 5 minutes after the inferior vena cava was clamped, and then the inferior vena cava tumor thrombus was removed. On the second day after the operation, the patient's conditions improved; his consciousness was clear; he was transferred to a general ward. On the third day after the operation, the patient was able to get out of bed and was discharged on the sixth day after the operation. LESSONS Real-time monitoring with TEE played an important role in many aspects in the radical nephrectomy of the renal carcinoma and removal of the inferior vena cava tumor thrombus.BACKGROUND This meta-analysis focuses on the controversial efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as compared with hyaluronic acid (HA) in the clinical treatment of knee osteoarthritis. We have attempted to provide an evidence-based medicine protocol for the conservative treatment of knee osteoarthritis. In addition, we included the latest relevant literature in this meta-analysis, and a staging study was conducted to compare the therapeutic effects of PRP and HA for knee osteoarthritis over different time periods. METHODS An online computer search with "platelet-rich plasma" and "knee osteoarthritis" as search terms was conducted in the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases. We conducted a quality assessment of the retrieved literature and extracted the following indicators visual analog scale (VAS) score, subjective International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC) score, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), and adverse events. RevMan5.3 software was used to determine the effect sizes, and indicators were compared across studies at three different time points from the administration of treatment. RESULTS A total of 14 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1350 patients were included. Long-term VAS, IKDC, WOMAC-Pain, WOMAC-Stiffness, WOMAC-Physical Function, and WOMAC-Total scores at each time point were higher in the PRP group than in the HA group. There were no significant differences in the remaining indicators between the two groups. CONCLUSION Compared with HA, PRP offers obvious advantages in the conservative treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Treatment with PRP can reduce long-term pain and improve knee joint function with no additional risks. Therefore, PRP can be widely used for the conservative treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical use of tumor abnormal protein (TAP) in the diagnosis of different cancers.Totally 394 patients were divided into 4 groups, namely 100 healthy volunteers, 167 patients with cancer, 20 subjects with precancerous lesions, and 107 subjects with benign lesions. TAP was detected in 4 groups of research subjects using a TAP testing kit and examination system. We correlated TAP levels with a wide variety of clinical indicators as well as established cancer markers, including alpha fetoprotein (AFP) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9). Besides, the changes of TAP level in 51 patients with liver cancer before and after surgery, and overall survival of patients with high or low TAP expression in pancreatic, gallbladder, bile duct, and liver cancers were analyzed.Statistically significant difference was observed in the TAP-positive ratio among subjects with cancer (79.6%) and precancerous lesions (45.0%) compared to the healthy volunteers (4.0%). TAP expression in different cancers was characterized by high sensitivity (79.64%), specificity (89.87%), positive and negative predictive value (85.25% and 85.71%), overall compliance rate (85.53%) but low omission and mistake diagnostic rate (20.36% and 10.13%), Youden index (0.6951). In addition, there was no significant difference among patients with different types of cancer (χ = 2.886, P = .410), and TAP expression was shown to be correlated with AFP in liver cancer (P = .034) but not with CA19-9 in pancreatic cancer (P = .241). Moreover, the overall survival of patients with low expression of TAP in pancreatic, gallbladder, bile duct, and liver cancers were significantly higher than of patients with high expression of TAP. Compared with the preoperative patients with cancer, TAP levels decreased dramatically among postoperative subjects (P less then .001).In summary, TAP might hold promise in serving as universal indicator for the diagnosis of different cancers.OBJECTIVE Apatinib mesylate is a novel vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2) inhibitor, which has exhibited good safety and efficacy in several types of solid tumors. The present study aimed to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of apatinib combined with chemotherapy and concurrent chemo-brachytherapy (CCBT) in patients with recurrent and advanced cervical cancer. METHODS A total of 52 patients with first diagnosed recurrent or untreated International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage IVB cervical cancer admitted at Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute between July 2016 and May 2018 were analyzed in the current randomized controlled trial. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups the apatinib-treated group and the control group. Patients with recurrent cervical cancer in the apatinib-treated group were administered apatinib and carboplatin-paclitaxel as first-line chemotherapy. Patients with advanced cervical cancer were administered apatinib in combination with CC side effects. Our study revealed that apatinib combination therapy, adenocarcinoma, and bone metastasis.BACKGROUND Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is the loss of function of the ovaries before age 40. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has been treating POI for long time. Therefore, we conduct this study to assess the efficacy and safety of CHM for POI. METHODS Seven databases will be searched from inception to December 31, 2018 PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Biology Medicine disc (CBM), WanFang Database, and Chongqing Chinese Scientific Journal Database (CQVIP). Randomized controlled trials that used CHM will be included. Two reviewers will independently complete the study selection, data extraction, and study quality assessment according to Cochrane Collaboration. All the data will be analyzed using Review Manage 5.3 software. RESULTS This study will generate a comprehensive summary on effectiveness and safety of CHM for POI. CONCLUSION This study may be beneficial to health policymakers, clinicians, and patients with regard to the use of CHM in POI treatment. METHODS The database PubMed and China National Knowledge Infrastructure will be searched. The cross-sectional studies or cohort studies on either massive or hospital-based health checkup population will be potentially eligible. The study population was originated from one of the southwestern major cities, Chengdu (Sichuan), Chongqing, Kunming (Yunnan), Guiyang (Guizhou), or Lhasa (Tibet). Two reviewers will independently select studies, extract data, and assess the quality of studies. The prevalence of H pylori infection will be estimated. In the individual city, the longitudinal comparisons will be conducted to evaluate the trends referring to the earliest cross-sectional baseline. The risk ratio and its 95% confidence interval will be estimated. Subgroup analyses will be performed in sex-specific and age-specific subsets. Trend analysis for proportions (p for trend) will be estimated in the longitudinal evaluation. If applicable, the longitudinal clearance rate (%) will be estimated. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The ethical approval is not required due to the nature of literature-based research. The results will be disseminated through meetings and a peer-reviewed journal. In rare cases, bone cement can leak into the venous system, which can be life threatening, especially when it causes an embolism in the heart. PATIENT CONCERNS A 79-year-old female patient developed chest pain with chest tightness 3 weeks after the percutaneous kyphoplasty. DIAGNOSES Initially, negative fluoroscopy results and elevated myocardial enzymes suggested that the patient's chest pain and chest tightness symptoms were manifestations of coronary heart disease. However, in the subsequent computed tomography (CT) examination, foreign bodies in the heart and pulmonary vessels were found. INTERVENTIONS The patient underwent emergency surgery to remove the bone cement and repair the tricuspid valve. OUTCOMES The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged on the 13th day after surgery. LESSONS If a patient develops chest pain with chest tightness after percutaneous kyphoplasty, the clinicians must be vigilant and take into account the limited sensitivity of fluoroscopy and use chest computer tomography and echocardiogram as the first choice and thereby prevent serious consequences. The visual system was reported to be affected in over half of patients with preeclampsia (PE), though fundus examination was performed only among patients complaining of visual symptoms. Delayed diagnosis and treatment of PE-related retinopathy may lead to permanent visual impairment. Therefore, we hypothesize that some clinical or laboratory parameters could predict severity of retinal damage. The aim of the study was to explore the risk factors for retinopathy in severe preeclampsia (sPE) and investigate pregnancy outcomes with different degrees of retinopathy. This retrospective cohort study included women with sPE who underwent ophthalmoscopy and delivered after admission to West China Second University Hospital, between June 2013 and December 2016. Clinical and laboratory characteristics were retrieved from medical records. Patients confirmed with retinopathy were followed up with telephones. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors of PE-related retinopathy.Five hundred thirty-four patients were included, of which 17.
