The Information seekers consumed bars to reduce stress and to improve their mood.The COVID-19 pandemic introduced risks and challenges to global food and nutrition security. In this paper, we examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nutritional intake of China's rural residents using panel data and a fixed effects model. The data were collected in 2019 and 2020 and covered nine provinces and 2631 households in rural China. The results reveal that an increase of 100 confirmed cases in a county resulted in a 1.30% (p < 0.01), 1.42% (p < 0.01), 1.65% (p < 0.01), and 1.15% (p < 0.01) decrease in per capita intake of dietary energy, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, respectively. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant and negative effect on dietary macronutrient intake in the low-income group at the 5% level of significance. Our study indicates that the potential insufficient nutrition situation, nutritional imbalance, and dietary imbalance of low-income rural residents should be addressed appropriately.(1) Very preterm infants are at increased risk of cognitive deficits, motor impairments, and behavioural problems. Studies have tied insufficient nutrition and growth to an increased risk of neurodevelopmental impairment; (2) Methods Follow-up study on cognitive and neuropsychological development at 6 years corrected age (CA) in 214 very preterm infants, including 141 breastfed infants randomised to mother's own milk (MOM) with (F-MOM) or without (U-MOM) fortification and 73 infants fed a preterm formula (PF-group), from shortly before discharge to 4 months CA. Infants with serious congenital anomalies or major neonatal morbidities were excluded prior to intervention. The purpose of this study was to investigate in LTP patients the actual use of prescribed epinephrine auto-injector and appropriateness of its prescription. In addition, we investigated in these patients (1) occurrence of new food reaction in the following three years after to diagnosis; (2) need and number of access to emergency services; (3) presence of possible predictive factors to further food reactions. One-hundred sixty-five adult patients sensitized to LTPs have been included. During follow-up, we recorded 68 further reactions, most of them (77.9%) characterized by local symptoms; rarely the patients required an emergency-department visits (16.1%) and only one patient (1.7%) used the epinephrine auto-injector. The patients with a previous history of anaphylaxis at baseline turned back to access to emergency services also during the follow-up (p = 0.006). The majority of patients with recorded systemic reactions (p = 0.004) and treated in an emergency room (p = 0.028) did not have any co-factor-enhanced at diagnosis. We noted an association between platanus pollen sensitization and severity of further reactions during the follow-up (p = 0.026). This study investigated whether long-term administration of buckwheat can suppress age-related cognitive decline in senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 (SAMP8) mice. For 26 weeks, 18-week-old male SAMP8 mice were fed a standard diet containing 5% (w/w) buckwheat, Tartary buckwheat, wheat, or rice flour. In the Barnes maze and passive avoidance tests, mice fed buckwheat whole flour (BWF) showed improved cognitive performance compared to those fed a control diet, while no improvement was noticed in case of the other diets. Analysis of the gut microbiota showed that BWF and buckwheat outer flour administration increased the abundance of Lactococcus and Ruminiclostridium, respectively, at the genus level. The expression levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), postsynaptic Arc and PSD95, and the mature neuronal marker NeuN in the hippocampus were increased after BWF administration, which was induced by the activation of the ERK/CREB signaling pathway and histone H3 acetylation. A similar increase in cognitive performance-related hippocampal BDNF expression in SAMP8 mice was observed after the oral administration of starch prepared from BWF. Molecules developed to activate the bile acid-receptor TGR5 regulate pathways involved in MALFD pathogenesis, but the therapeutic value of TGR5 activation on the active form of MAFLD, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), still needs to be evaluated. As TGR5 agonism is low in MAFLD, we used strategies to promote the production of endogenous TGR5 ligands or administered pharmacological TGR5 agonists, INT-777 and RO5527239, to study the effect of TGR5 activation on liver and metabolic diseases in high-fat diet-fed foz/foz mice. Although described in the literature, treatment with fexaramine, an intestine-restricted FXR agonist, did not raise the concentrations of TGR5 ligands nor modulate TGR5 signaling and, accordingly, did not improve dysmetabolic status. INT-777 and RO5527239 directly activated TGR5. INT-777 only increased the TGR5 activation capacity of the portal blood; RO5527239 also amplified the TGR5 activation capacity of systemic blood. Both molecules improved glucose tolerance. In spite of the TGR5 activation capacity, INT-777, but not RO5527239, reduced liver disease severity. In conclusion, TGR5 activation in enterohepatic, rather than in peripheral, tissues has beneficial effects on glucose tolerance and MAFLD.In this paper we report on the development and field-testing of proposed food-based dietary guideline (FBDG) messages among Tanzanian consumers. The messages were tested for cultural appropriateness, consumer understanding, acceptability, and feasibility. In addition, comprehension of the messages was assessed using culturally representative images for low literacy audiences. Focus group discussions were used as method for data collection. Results indicate that the core meaning of the proposed FBDG messages and images were understood and acceptable to the general population. However, participants felt that nutrition education would be required for improved comprehension. Feasibility was affected by some cultural differences, lack of nutrition knowledge, time constraints, and poverty. Suggestions were made for some rewording of certain messages and editing of certain images. It is recommended that the field-tested messages and images, incorporating the suggested changes, should be adopted. Once adopted, the FBDGs can be used to inform and engage various stakeholders, including parents, caregivers, healthcare providers and educators on appropriate nutritional practices for children and adults. We conducted cross-sectional, interviewer-administered intercept surveys with 325 adult SNAP participants at six incentive programs, five comparison farmers' markets, and nine comparison supermarkets in California in the summer of 2018. The program provided dollar-for-dollar point-of-purchase incentives with $10 or $20 maximum at participating farmers' markets. We measured produce consumption by an NCI screener; food security by the USDA 6-item screener; and program satisfaction with open-ended questions asked of a subsample.
