Our findings indicate that social information use can influence resource acquisition in temporary aggregations of non-grouping animals, but individual differences in satiety may hinder effective information spread associated with exploitable food patches.In this study, the long-term effects of different salinities on the performance, sludge morphology and shifts in microbial communities were studied in a simultaneous anammox and denitrification (SAD) process at a C/N ratio of 0.5. Stable nitrogen removal efficiencies of 86.96 and 84.58% and nitrogen removal rates of 0.95 and 0.93 kg (m3 d)-1 could be achieved under low (25 mmol l-1) and moderate (50 mmol l-1) salinity, respectively. However, the performance collapsed when the system was exposed to high salinity (100 mmol l-1). The content of extracellular polymeric substances increased as salinity increased, which resulted in larger sizes of granular sludge under low and moderate salinities. Nevertheless, high salinity shock disintegrated granular sludge, thereby decreasing the average granule size. The Illumina-Miseq sequencing results revealed that Candidatus Jettenia was the sole salinity-tolerant AnAOB genus during the entire operation, whereas the main denitrification bacterial genera shifted from Denitrisoma under low salinity to Denitrisoma, Thauera and Ignavibacterium under high salinity. A mathematical model was established using a method of combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation with experiments, then the model was used to further analyse the effect of RPR on the thermal environment of the CSG. The experimental greenhouse was simulated as an empty building to obtain results independently from these factors including crop and ventilation conditions. The results showed that the occurrence time of the maximum air temperature will be delayed when RPR increases to 0.3 during the daytime. As RPR increases, the heat storage layer of the soil gradually becomes thinner, but the north wall remains unchanged. RPR has a relatively small effect on the minimum temperature of each greenhouse part during the night. Mathematical models of the relationships between RPR, the solar energy that entered the greenhouse and the released heat energy of the enclosure structures were established, respectively. This paper can provide theoretical guidance for the structural design of the CSG.This manuscript examines how the Precautionary Principle has been applied to provide a mechanism for protection of the environment and health in response to the introduction of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in Europe. It discusses how the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) handled national requests across four cases in which Member States had failed in their attempt to trigger the Precautionary Principle in order to uphold a ban or suspension of the cultivation or sale of GMOs in their territory. The analysis of these judgements suggests that the court has applied a narrow interpretation to the scientific evidence emerging from risk assessments, and has thereby limited the potential for precautionary measures by Member States to be upheld by the court. This outcome reflects a `weak' application of the Precautionary Principle by the court in contrast with the `moderate' formulation and `strong' interpretation of the principle offered by the European legal framework. Moreover, the analysis highlights that the CJEU's rulings are not keeping pace with the development of the European normative framework which considers the Precautionary Principle as a key tenet and, through the 2015 Directive, enables Member States to ban GMO cultivation without referring to scientific evidence.This article explores the criminal regulation of misoprostol as a controlled drug in Brazil as a new form of abortion criminalization. A qualitative analysis of Brazilian case law shows how the courts use a public health rhetoric of unsafe abortion to criminalize the distribution of misoprostol in the informal sector. Rather than an invention of the local bench, this judicial rhetoric reflects global public health discourse and policy on unsafe abortion and the double life of misoprostol as both an essential medicine and a controlled drug. In contrast to previous studies, the article shows that abortion criminalization is not the cause, but rather the consequence of misoprostol's double life. In the last section, it draws on an outlier judgment of the case law to chart a regulatory future for misoprostol and its supply in the informal sector as a site of harm reduction and safe abortion in public health policy.
