UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. When doing this it is important that the new handles match the dimensions of the previous handle.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles commonly found on doors. The handle can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing. Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with external and internal doors generally requiring different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it is dependent on the way your door and handle are utilized. For example, external doors require an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured using a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however, in the event that this is not possible, you may remove it to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is crucial to make sure it's not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This can to deflect attacks and protect your door.

The addition of this simple element is among the most effective ways to fix this issue and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as they aren't always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially made for use with multipoint locks sprung, they will not fit multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the backplates of door handles of various kinds of uPVC doors. They are sold as a single unit.
